  1. This is a must read! 2. Anyways To the person who made this post, where are you now sis? Do you still need any encouragement/guidance/support/advice? I'm sure we can help you out and advise you or give you tips on how to stay a strong singhnee
  3. karmjeet that's a wonderful post.. I'm interested in learning more about what happens to brahm gyanis after they pass away.. Where did you get that info? Or maybe Gursikhs just passed it on to you?
  4. where did that show air? i don't even remember it
  5. According to what most of the Panth says, an Amritdharee person should marry another Amritdharee person. There is more balance this way. Marriage is the union of two souls, and if the two souls are on a different path, there can be lots of problems. I've seen Sikh people marrying non-Sikhs or just plain "punjabis" that don't follow the religion, and it has MOST DEFINITELY caused s-e-r-i-o-u-s problems in the relationship. At first it may not seem like a big deal, but eventually, the religious/spiritual differences can create a huge barrier between the husband and wife. It really lowers your spiritual connection. Marriage in Sikhism is about spirituality and connection to God. Keeping a similar rehat (code of conduct) will enable the partnership to stay strong and focussed. Your souls will become one and you will have the same destination and will use the same means to reach that destination. I'm saying all this not only because of what rehat maryadas say but also because I've seen one too many mixed religion marriages go WRONG. Sticking to ONE religion (between the partnership) is best.
  6. wow! some of those pictures are very, very beautiful. I like the first two especially :D
  7. interesting photo, although i don't know who bhai raam singh ji is and why they're treating him like a guru.
  8. Dearest brother. Sikhi IS about becoming humble and modest, controlling your mind, and becoming a saint-soldier. Sikhi is the game of love, and Amrit is simply the first step that will put "prem rus" into you, and get you ready to feel the divine bliss of Naam and Bani. Amrit is simply the initiation process, and it is absolutely essential ("pritham rehat ye jaan khande kee pahul chhake"). However, this physical Amrit is there to HELP you develop the internal Amrit Naam. It's definitely not along the lines of Sikhi to utter your nitnem without knowing the meaning, or to do paat like parrots. You should make an effort to understand what you are reading (bani/paat), then you will feel ultimate bliss. Sikhi IS about becoming a Saint-Soldier who gives every breath to Guru Sahib. Veer ji, doesn't "living each day for the guru" go hand in hand with "giving your head" to the Guru? To me, it's the same thing. I've given my head, but I try to live every day dedicated to Guru Jee. It's one and the same in my world. It's all about pyaar, and Amrit puts that pyaar into you. >just a humble opinion!<
  9. Akalbir, you're so right! To "heydudeswassup", I agree that sometimes it probably is just sleep paralysis. However, I know of Gursikhs that have actually SEEN spirits and ghosts pressing them down. When you do a lot of simran, your "third eye" opens, and you are able to see things that normal people can not see (like ghosts, spirits, shaheed singhs, etc.) And I was told by an high avastha Gurmukh that this is the first step to getting Guru Ji's darshan My opinion is that it probably can be sleep paralysis sometimes, but there are times when you can FEEL that it is something else. You can feel the power of a spirit or ghost in the room, you just know it. I know of a Sant who has a very high avastha and she is able to see these spirits. SHe has seen them at her bed and they have tried to paralyse her and press her down when she sleeps, but she's a very powerful gursikh, so the more paat she does, the more these spirits get scared of her. Now they are starting to leave her alone, because she has started to read a lot of bani. The strength and bravery of Guru Ji's Khalsas is amazinggg. Chaugird Hamaray Raam Kaar, Dukh Lagay Na Bhaaee
  10. I AM surprised, however, that the moderators of this site would approve of such a ridiculous post
  11. I never said anything wrong about sikh awareness! relaaaaax people
  12. dear maha pavitar ji you should ask on another website, maybe someone with real knowledge will be able to help you out
  13. To the dear brother who posted above, Don't go to any door except for Guru Ji's. Guru Ji can free you from ALL your problems, so don't listen to faithless cynics and try any other strange remedy to deal with your problems. Guru Ji can make your life wonderful and without pain. Once again, don't listen to faithless fruits, just recognize that you should only go to Guru Ji's door now. naanak dhar ghar eaek hai avar n dhoojee jaae ||10||11|| O Nanak, there is only the one door to His Home; there is no other place at all. ||10||11|| gur pushh dhaekhiaa naahee dhar hor || I have consulted the Guru, and I have seen that there is no other door than His. naam nidhhaan paaeiaa par ghar jaae n koe ||2|| Obtaining the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one does not go knocking at other doors. ||2|| an ko dhar ghar kabehoo n jaanas eaeko dhar sachiaaraa || Whoever finds the door of the One True Lord, does not know any other house or door. (I'm sure you get the point). Try doing sukhmani sahib/jap ji sahib as often as possible, and make sure you do keertan sohila and rakheya dhey shabad before sleeping. Do ardaas that the spirit leaves you alone and moves on. If you have 100% faith in Guru Nanak, he will save you and protect you without a doubt. Don't worry Tu Kahey Doley Praniya - Tudh Rakheyga Sirjanhaar.
  14. "Maha Pavitar" - I'm quite surprised at your post. Sikhi is obviously a universal religion. Hair is naturally present on every single person in the world. People only started removing their hair recently because of societal/social pressure. So why would it not be universal for everyone to keep their hair? It's naturally on the bodies of almost all men and women born! Keeping hair would be practical for ALL people. To everyone else. Even if the Guru Granth Sahib does not explicitly say "keep your hair" - think about it this way - if you become enrolled in a school, none of your textbooks will contain any information about the school UNIFORM. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji is still your TEACHER, but the Khalsa Panth is the school. You need to enter this school and follow the rules of the Khalsa, as ascribed by Dhan Dhan Maharaj Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Jee and his beloved Gursikhs. Consider this shabad: paanch singh amrith jo dhaevai thaan ko sir dhhar shhak pun laevai|| apun mil paancho rehith jo bhaakhai thaan ko man mae dhrirr kar raakhai|| (meaning): Offer you head and take the Amrit prepared by five Singhs. The code of conduct (Rehat), which they bless you with, should be enshrined in one's heart. In all rehat maryadas (akal takht, damdami taksal, akj, etc) keeping all hair is essential. Guru Gobind Singh Ji tells us to follow the rehat given to us by the Panj Pyare. ALSO - the guru granth sahib ji states that you should listen to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING your Guru tells you to do. Jo Gur Kahay Soee Bhal Mano! So that means we should treat ALL Gurus equally. If Guru Gobind Singh Jee indicated that we should keep our hair and told us so take Amrit, we MUST listen to him in order to be Sikhs! Bhai Desa Singh's rehatnama also states the following: prathham rehath eaehee hai kehee || paahul main jo singhan kehee || (meaning): The most important principle is to forever remember the Rehat given by the Singhs at the initiation ceremony. We should obviously listen to the rehat given to us by Gursikhs who actually know what they're talking about, like the Beloved Panj There is another hukam that Shahey ShahnShah Dasmesh Guru Gobind Singh Jee wrote to the sangat of kabul, here is a brief translation: You should take baptism by the sword, from Five Beloveds Keep your hair uncut for this is a seal of the Guru Accept the use of shorts and a sword Always wear iron Kara on your wrist, Keep you hair clean and comb it twice a day. (Guru Gobind Singh) If you look through the Amrit Keertan book also you will find the following shabads by Guru Gobind Singh - "Bina Shasthr Kesang Narang Bhed Jano" (Guru Gobind Singh) - Without Kes and Shasters you are considered to be a sheep. and "Bina Theg Kesang Dhivo Na Dhidhaarey" (Guru Gobind Singh) Without Tegh (weapons) and hair, do not come to get my darshan. Hair definitely does assist in doing bhagti, I know that for myself at least. Sometimes Gursikhs have talked to me about how they can feel all of their hairs vibrating with Naam when they do simran :D waheguru!!! I love that feeling when each and every hair on your body is tingling. And you feel so blessed that God himself put each hair on your body. It's a wonderful thing. :)
  15. take it ez there kid. NEO, it doesn't matter. Guru Gobind Singh Ji said that the first rehat is Amrit, so that's the truth. Bani says "jo gur kahey soee bhal mano." We should listen to everything Dasmesh Pita Jee says. It was his Hukam, we should listen to it if we want to be Sikhs. That's the bottom line.
  16. yes, if you lot will continue to cry about how the man in the picture has too nice a body, I suggest you try to draw a picture yourself, and see if you can create a more "politically correct" picture, according to your picky standards. Have fun trying!
  17. Hello Harpreet! 8) I suppose you're correct about the brahm giani thing, maybe I was wrong in calling him that because I never met him, but I was writing based on his books, his experiences, the things people have said about him, his pictures, etc. See, it's not like I sit here for hours thinking of things to say and ways to refute silly arguments, I wrote the above post at work, not really thinking people would doubt the obvious fact that he was a Sant. (mods, do you have any doubts about Bhai Randhir Singh Ji being a Sant? I doubt it.) So I was just saying how I felt out of love for such a beautiful person like Bhai Randhir Singh ji! Of course I'm not a brahm giani yet, I don't think a brahm giani would post on such a forum preaching to others! Also, whether he is a "brahm giani" or not, I still certainly believe Bhai Randhir Singh Ji to be a Sant just like Sant Attar Singh Ji, etc., and I have grown a lot from reading his books and learning about his life and experiences. That's all that matters to me. I may not have time to respond to another post, as I do not use the internet often. But I basically said how I feel above. God Bless!
  18. Dear brother jt, "AKJ" may not believe in Sants, but I do.
  19. The rehats are a part of Sikhi too. The rehatnamas that we follow strictly are the ones written by Sikhs like Bhai Daya Singh ji, who was the first Panj Pyara. He was the first one that stepped up in the original amrit sanchaar, willing to give his head to Guru Sahib, regardless of what people thought, fearless of death or whatever the consequences may be. Bhai Daya Singh Ji must have been extremely close to Guru Sahib. Also Sikhs like Baba Nand Singh Ji - Baba Ji was extremely close to Guru Gobind Singh, so he would never write something that went against Guru Jee's teachings. There are also key parts in rehat that were written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself. He was our Dasmey Patshaah - and we should definitely follow HIS teachings along with the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
  20. log jaanai eihu geeth hai eihu tho breham beechaar || People believe that this is just a song, but it is a meditation on God. jio kaasee oupadhaes hoe maanas marathee baar ||3|| It is like the instructions given to the dying man at Benares. ||3|| koee gaavai ko sunai har naamaa chith laae || Whoever sings or listens to the Lord's Name with conscious awareness kahu kabeer sa(n)saa nehee a(n)th param gath paae ||4||1||4||55|| - says Kabeer, without a doubt, in the end, he obtains the highest status. ||4||1||4||55||
  21. Bhai Randhir Singh Ji was a Brahm Giani, a brave Khalsa, an amazing Sant. Poor lallshvari. I hope God has kirpa on you, sis. sa(n)th kaa dhokhee sadhaa apavith || The slanderer of the Saint is forever impure. sa(n)th kaa dhokhee kisai kaa nehee mith || The slanderer of the Saint is nobody's friend. sa(n)th kae dhokhee ko ddaan laagai || The slanderer of the Saint shall be punished. sa(n)th kae dhokhee ko sabh thiaagai || The slanderer of the Saint is abandoned by all. sa(n)th kaa dhokhee mehaa aha(n)kaaree || The slanderer of the Saint is totally egocentric. sa(n)th kaa dhokhee sadhaa bikaaree || The slanderer of the Saint is forever corrupt. sa(n)th kaa dhokhee janamai marai || The slanderer of the Saint must endure birth and death. sa(n)th kee dhookhanaa sukh thae ttarai || The slanderer of the Saint is devoid of peace. sa(n)th kae dhokhee ko naahee t(h)aao || The slanderer of the Saint has no place of rest. Waheguru, please save all the lost souls and teach them the true way.
