  1. People need to understand it's your actions that matter not what family you were born into. A "high" cast person is no closer to God than a "low" cast. If you see God's light in everything God created how can you even think you are above anyone. WJKK WJKF
  2. If you think your children might be affected in this way then surely it can't be considered as an option. What about the sin of knowingly bringing a life in to the world, who will be in pain. If you continue to have children after a first disabled child surely your Imam or religious leader's should advise you this can't be right.
  3. I agree with this comment. Guru Ji did not give us the Kesh, Kada, Kangha, Kachera and Kirpan simply as symbols. All these items have a purpose and to take Amrit and become a member of the Khalsa you must have all items, which may be bought or given to you by people. But you must also have a very unique mind set which can only be gained by God's grace. Sorry if I offend anybody but I see so many people who look the part (sikh/khalsa) but wouldn't be able to fulfill the part when need be. I can imagine them saying "but what about my.........." what ever they think will not be without them(there egoism). I feel to be a true member of the Khalsa you must be able to give up everything for anything(right), even if that anything has nothing to do with them. There aren't many people like that in this world (l am not, nor do I pretend to be) that's why the world is the way it is. WJKK WJKF
  4. Just a quick reply to what jasperS wrote, I feel that a hallucination causing substance or something that makes your body produce higher volumes of said substance should not be used as a short cut to reach that deep meditative state he mentioned, as I think the whole process and time taken to reach that state of mind must play a vital role in a person's under standing of the "vision". Sorry if I have offended anybody due to my ignorance. WJKK WJKF
  5. Maybe the question should be why don't Sikh's in the UK keep licenced firearms, why it is not encouraged by our religious leader's, if we have gatka class's in our Gurdwara's why we don't have some sort of firearms club where we could organise clay pigeon shooting days out. I have been to a clay pigeon shoot it's not expensive and gets even cheaper if you have your own shotgun and there's no age limit just as long as you can manage the weight of the gun you can have a go.
  6. I think now if you want to marry any body and bring then to the UK they have to pass an English test so the language barrier shouldn't be a problem in reporting abuse. As a parent (in UK for example) it's your responsibility to make sure your child is ready to be married ie has a job to support somebody from abroad while they adjust to life here, is not in another relationship, doesn't have any substance abuse problems ie drug or alcohol. Also the other parent (in India) should have the same responsibility and make inquiries into the family they wish there child to be joined with. Almost every village has someone who is abroad and could make a visit to the family. If people don't get blinded by the belive that happiness can only be found abroad and that nri kids are soft and don't tell lies we wouldn't have this problem. WGJKK WGJKF
  7. WJKK WGKF I am new to this forum so please forgive me if this topic has already been mentioned in the past. I am also still learning about sikhism so forgive my ignorance. I live in the UK where we are not allowed to keep hand guns but it is legal to own a shotgun or rifle for as long as you have a licence. But I don't know of any sikhs with licenced firearms. I think this is odd as we have been blessed with the Kirpan by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, I understand a Kiran is not a firearm but mustn't we move with times, if in today's times we are required to stand up against injustice and have to turn to physical means shouldn't we be ready. I am sorry if I have offended anybody please forgive me as this was not my intention. I look forward to reading what you think. WGJKK WGJKF
