ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਨਾਵਣ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਤਰ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
Punn Dhaan Anaek Naavan Kio Anthar Mal Dhhovai ||
Giving donations , charities,  and countless cleansing baths can not wash off the filth within the heart.
 
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਗਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਬੇਬਾਣੈ ॥
Naam Binaa Gath Koe N Paavai Hath Nigrehi Baebaanai ||
Without the Naam, no one attains salvation.
Stubborn self-discipline and living in the wilderness are of no use at all.

PRACTICE THE PAUSE
pause before judging
pause before assuming
pause before accusing
pause before speaking
pause before you are to react harshly, 
and you will avoid
doing  and saying things
which you will regret later.

Note: For us as sikhs, Waheguru is our purpose, and His bhakti alone, is the fire which lights our journey towards Him.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਸਾਥੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Bin Naavai Ko Sang N Saathhee Mukathae Naam Dhhiaavaniaa ||4||
Without the Name, there are no companions or friends. Liberation comes only by meditating on the Naam. ||4||

Heerae Jaisaa Janam Hai Kouddee Badhalae Jaae ||1||
Human life is such a precious jewel, but it is being lost in exchange for a mere shell. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਕਾ ॥
NAAM N JAANIAA RAAM KAA ||
You do not know the Name of the Lord.
ਮੂੜੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਹਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ 
Moorrae Fir Paashhai Pashhuthaahi Rae 
You fool - you shall regret and repent in the end! 
*Note: Guru Jee is here telling us, we are quite smart in doing so many other things, but, we are fools for not paying attention to the one and only thing that  really matters, and that is meditating upon His Saachaa Nao, to cross from this side of the creation, to our True home in Sach Khand.

Sree Raam Naamaa Ouchar Manaa ||
Chant the Name of the Supreme Lord, O my mind.
 
ਆਗੈ ਜਮ ਦਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਘਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ 
Aagai Jam Dhal Bikham Ghanaa 
Otherwise, in the world hereafter, you will have to face the awesome and cruel army of Death.

Har Nirabho Naam Patheejiaa Maeree Jindhurreeeae Sabh Jhakh Maaran Dhusatt Kupathae Raam ||
One who has faith/love in the Fearless Name of the Lord, O my soul - all his enemies and attackers speak against him in vain.
