Question: Lets say a married man does naam bandghi and reaches God. Can he still have a baby? I mean can he still have a physical relation with his wife and produce child? Or kaam vashna is gone for forever?

Kaam can attack at any moment, can attack any person despite their spiritual status. That is why kaam, karodh , lobh , moh ahankaar are called the 5 thieves. They can manifest themselves as disguised so that you fail to recognise them.

I will use the example of joga singh.. who just got married.... left his last lav... because Guru ji requested him to stop whatever he was doing and come to Guru ji the moment he reads the letter. He left his bride .. incompletely married... to travel.

Then he stops at night at the door of a prostitute and keeps trying to get in all night. Was his brain tricked? Was he prepared to engage in kaam before he was married and then... got the letter... did not get married.... was going to see Guru ji ... got tempted on the way. Was it his repressed desire in him which brought about his temptation. What if he had not been stopped when he was getting married and Guru ji sent him a letter and he left ploughing the fields and travelled all night to see Guru ji.. would he have given in to the temptation?

So this was kaam trying to attack him in its disguised form. Guru ji had to come to defend and stop him from sinning because he was under the influence of kaam and could not think straight. All night - did he not think about what his would-be wife would think of him? He did not say his prayer...mool mantra or whatever else a Sikh should be saying if he was going to be facing his Guru Ji the next day? Guru JI was near him and he could not recognise Guru Ji at all. Kaam had blinded him.

Another example is Ravan. He must have performed lots of bhagti and he had ten heads. He had a wife too... in fact many of them. He had one hundred sons. Was there a shortage of women in his kingdom? Why Sita ? Well it was his downfall coming shortly and the best way was for him to be made to commit a very horrible sin so that his powers can be snatched away. Divine powers were behind this.

So how can these 5 thieves be defeated?

The answer is in this shabad SGGS Ang 205-206

    ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ

Says Namdev, I therefore, serve the Lord alone.

I would say that the pangti does not directly say do not worship stone idols, however it does point to the worship of God. It shows us the folly in believing one stone is God and while we are stepping on another stone. If the one we are worshipping is believed to be God - and we have adorned it beautifully with stones and other decorations - what is the same material that we are actually stepping on ? Its a stone as well. So why are we stepping on stone and worshipping it too. We should worship the spirit of God, not stones. This shabad is by the Bhagat Naamdev Ji.

  3. It's all about devotion to one deity. The mind is more collected and peaceful.  Unfortunately hindus cannot decide which one to pick. Divided attention means less shardha.

Har ek simar ek simar ek simar peyare har ek simar.

Whether through Jesus or through the Gurus. . God is one...

Sikhi does tell us to consider the the gurus as one..  its up to us to delve deeper into our own religion and find out the correct way to pray and also correct our mental thoughts.

Religion is also more about community which I think appeals more to people.  Hindus and sikhs lead more isolated lives whilst the Christians seen to be more supportive of each other.  This would easily influence a lonely person to join.

Sikhi is all about meditation. . Which is more easily achieved by working solo as most of us do.  The Internet provides the mental support from colleagues with similar aims to ours.

It's all about where your personal motivation and support can be obtained from.  No religion is right or wrong its all about what our individual requirements are.

And can u please make me one saakhi on daily basis?

    That will save my life...

I will pray Guru Nanak bless you with best ❤

When bhai mardana wanted to go see his family. .. Guru Nanak dev ji took him using astral travel. He had nothing in his hands so he requested Guru Ji for a gift.

Guru Ji filled his choli with pebbles which he took quietly and when he opened it on arrival at home they were actually turned into gold coins.

This sakhi reminds us to place our trust in Guru ji and not question every little happening we see because the outcome can be changed in an instant.

A good example is one of my relatives mum was diagnosed with dementia.  It was sad but later when her dad passed away... she realised the dementia was a blessing in disguise.

Her mum never registered that her life partner is gone and never felt the sadness which might have further harmed her. A little good or a lot of good in something we might see as bad.

Was her dementia a blessing or a curse?

  5. I read a sakhi from janam sakhi bhai bala which was about a thief. His mum told him to cover his ears whenever he passed a dharamsala.

He did this until one day he was pricked ny a thorn and he heard the words that devte dont blink.

After that he got arrested and the police made a nakli durga maa to appear to him in order to get a confession from him as he denied all charges of theft.

He looked and saw she never blinked. That one sikhiya of the Guru saved him. I always thought this pangti was connected to that sakhi so I understood it differently. I must have read this pangti there.

However now I discovered it had a deeper meaning... much deeper... which thanks to you asking for it I had to look it up and be sure.

The words ratan jawahar manik actually mean veraag, gyan and naam which come into the budhi when we listen to the bachan of the True Guru. All the time I thought they meant actual rubies and gems without a deeper meaning. I now understand better what rubies, gems and jewels are in Gurmat.

    This is...

U have made my day by this line...

    That...

God has used you to give...

    It made my way clear...

Even today i heared from Gurbani too,  that We need to b givers...

Givers givers only,  humble to every one's feet, dont feel like very low,  coz when we are humble to His creation,  He will be humble to us :)

    SGGS Ang 2

In the mind are gems, jewels and rubies, provided thou you act upon (hearken to) even one instruction of the Guru.

  7. Good question.  We give and think we have given.  In reality God has used you to give.

So you only hurt if you think you give.

That is why kabir ji says mera muj me kich nahi. Jo kich hae so tera. Tera tuj ko saumpdhe kya laage mera.

The saloks of kabir ji have many lessons in them. It is good to listen to them and read about the deeper meanings once in a while.

I personally feel lots if comfort from them.

    Understand....

Mean i just need to keep trying & pray that Guru Nanak...

Now its up to you :)

Yes thats the spirit. God does not want us to beg.... and keep asking... rather start giving and sharing and planting.

It all comes back to you that one day. However we are also not supposed to hope to get the fruits of our giving and planting.

This is the way to control the mind and keep it in one place... at the feet of our Guru Ji.

Constant repetition of his name helps achieve this.

i have firm belief in hukum..if i did not see light at one point of time it was that i did not have the hukum to see light then..how much ever targets i personally plan..if there has been no hukum given ..come what may things wont happen. At the same time my efforts have to come ..hukum to get success will come whenever it has to..

Rather I would say... he has blessed us with what we earned and are able to handle. Therefore looking into the past does not really benefit us. A forward thinking is more beneficial. The past teaches us things... we should plan for the future and set ourselves goals which we want to achieve. The future gives us hope. Every new day gives us another chance to do what we feel we did not achieve yesterday or today.

How great is God... we view churasi as a punishment. However he has given us lives over and over again so that we can learn at our own pace.

    Seriously?  Hukam is everything?

I am planning alot of things from last 4 years, but still nothing i can do myself...

God just requires submission... the more total it is - the better the results.

There are many sakhis of  bhagats who sat down doing bhagti and God himself came to perform their jobs.

aap karo humre sab kaaj. ... I think this pangti is from chaupai.

Bhagats or devotees are supposed to get absorbed in the name of God and leave everything else to his hukam.

walis discussing te same with a friend and he told me about what Baba Bulleshah would say - Kazi Panj vele te Bulla har vele

...which means for the Kazi it was Namaz time  five times in a day  however for Bulleshah every time was for namaz..

I find this inspiring ..restrictions if you ponder on will always be..i have given in to such excuses and lost time...i feel it was just excuses for me for not doing bhagti.

Very nice quote. However assuming uyou had wasted no time -  would your  life this moment have been different to what It Is?

Sukh vele Shukrana Dukh vele Ardas ..Har Vele Simran...this we keep reading hearing time and again...i had asked an abhyasi once and he told me bluntly..is there any time for bhog? you get feelings and you get into the act ! its like that ..you feel to do now ..or any time you just do it..no restrictions ...thats what struck me ..my two cents ..Waheguru knows the best !

    So what happened after.  .
