sikhni777 got a reaction from Premi in Nidar Singh Nihang's translation of Charitro Pakhyan is out
A meal at a restaurant costs more than £25. So does a birthday or a Christmas gift.
I have a confession to make- I was doing my rehras path and went to the shop.  I handed my fiver then walked out. A fiver flew past me- I mistook it for my fiver and pocketed it. For some reason I had been viewing the fiver pretty lustfully before handing it over to the shopkeeper.  Then I realised what I had done.  I thought of the poor person who must have lost it. I should have handed it over.  But with so much cheating going on in the world - who knows if the rightful owner would get it or not.
I thought of throwing it on the street. That won't get it back to the original owner either.
Matha tek at the gurdwara.  Well I had failed my test. I love maya more than God. At least that one instant I did. Imagine what dhaat could have come my way if I had rejected that fiver.
Well so it stayed in the pocket and I bought something with it wowing to get my class kids some nice gift worth a fiver, as it was the only cash I had with me that day.
Despite having gone to the gurdwara,  I didn't use it for matha tek.
The guilt grew so great that I ended up doing everything - after that - everything I thought of ever doing with the fiver. Matha teked a fiver - 2 times until the guilt went away.  Got the kids some erasers for Christmas.  They were so happy - came home with a smile that day.
Never again look at money like that! !!!!

Kaam can attack at any moment, can attack any person despite their spiritual status. That is why kaam, karodh , lobh , moh ahankaar are called the 5 thieves. They can manifest themselves as disguised so that you fail to recognise them.
I will use the example of joga singh.. who just got married.... left his last lav... because Guru ji requested him to stop whatever he was doing and come to Guru ji the moment he reads the letter. He left his bride .. incompletely married... to travel.
Then he stops at night at the door of a prostitute and keeps trying to get in all night. Was his brain tricked? Was he prepared to engage in kaam before he was married and then... got the letter... did not get married.... was going to see Guru ji ... got tempted on the way. Was it his repressed desire in him which brought about his temptation. What if he had not been stopped when he was getting married and Guru ji sent him a letter and he left ploughing the fields and travelled all night to see Guru ji.. would he have given in to the temptation?
So this was kaam trying to attack him in its disguised form. Guru ji had to come to defend and stop him from sinning because he was under the influence of kaam and could not think straight. All night - did he not think about what his would-be wife would think of him? He did not say his prayer...mool mantra or whatever else a Sikh should be saying if he was going to be facing his Guru Ji the next day? Guru JI was near him and he could not recognise Guru Ji at all. Kaam had blinded him.
Another example is Ravan. He must have performed lots of bhagti and he had ten heads. He had a wife too... in fact many of them. He had one hundred sons. Was there a shortage of women in his kingdom? Why Sita ? Well it was his downfall coming shortly and the best way was for him to be made to commit a very horrible sin so that his powers can be snatched away. Divine powers were behind this.
So how can these 5 thieves be defeated?
The answer is in this shabad SGGS Ang 205-206

I would say that the pangti does not directly say do not worship stone idols, however it does point to the worship of God. It shows us the folly in believing one stone is God and while we are stepping on another stone. If the one we are worshipping is believed to be God - and we have adorned it beautifully with stones and other decorations - what is the same material that we are actually stepping on ? Its a stone as well. So why are we stepping on stone and worshipping it too. We should worship the spirit of God, not stones. This shabad is by the Bhagat Naamdev Ji.

It's all about devotion to one deity. The mind is more collected and peaceful.  Unfortunately hindus cannot decide which one to pick. Divided attention means less shardha.
Har ek simar ek simar ek simar peyare har ek simar.
Whether through Jesus or through the Gurus. . God is one...
Sikhi does tell us to consider the the gurus as one..  its up to us to delve deeper into our own religion and find out the correct way to pray and also correct our mental thoughts.
Religion is also more about community which I think appeals more to people.  Hindus and sikhs lead more isolated lives whilst the Christians seen to be more supportive of each other.  This would easily influence a lonely person to join.
Sikhi is all about meditation. . Which is more easily achieved by working solo as most of us do.  The Internet provides the mental support from colleagues with similar aims to ours.
It's all about where your personal motivation and support can be obtained from.  No religion is right or wrong its all about what our individual requirements are.

What i trurly believe,  every curse,  every lose...  For a Gurmukh is a blessing...
Coz he/she has to b that blvr that whatever Guru Nanak do for him/her is best will....
I cant even imangine now anything i regret in my life...
Coz as far as 23 year passed i am blind believer that everything i'v gone through was some how helping me to be better me...
To get deep conected with Guru Nanak...
I am suffring from 5 years of journey of finding true God...
    Many things i passed through...
But to be honest i wasnt satisfied with my experiance,
Something was missing always,  my peace was in other places, i was greedy of relations feelings,  i was stil greedy at duniya...
But finaly from last 3 months,  i am getting this clearly that when u move away ur heart from duniya u truely find peace....
U don't need to get worry for relation problems,  all over life stuff...
Coz when u leave all dat in Guru Nanak's hands, u will find peace in heart and ur problems will solved without ever knowing ...
I am at peace with my self...
To be honest its duty of a human to give his daily 2 3 hour to God...
But if posb,  for me,  if posb to serve with my full posiblites i can give my half day to Guru Nanak

Nice interpretation.    I like it when someone takes a shot at sharing their own grasp of a shabad or pangti
As one progresses spiritually, they start perceiving gurbani differently on multiple levels. The meanings become deeper and one thing it has taught me, is that many of the terms used aren't for the purpose of allegory. Although, they may certainly present themselves at certain  levels of depth..
I just wanted to add some food for thought with regards to this shabad and pangti..............

    ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਕਿ ਨਾਇ ਕਰੀ ॥
Ŧirath nāvā je ṯis bẖāvā viṇ bẖāṇe kė nā▫e karī.
If I am pleasing to Him, then that is my pilgrimage and cleansing bath. Without pleasing Him, what good are ritual cleansings?
    ਜੇਤੀ ਸਿਰਠਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਵੇਖਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਲਈ ॥
Jeṯī siraṯẖ upā▫ī vekẖā viṇ karmā kė milai la▫ī.
I gaze upon all the created beings: without the karma of good actions, what are they given to receive?
Within the mind are gems, jewels and rubies, if you listen to the Guru's Teachings, even once.
    ਗੁਰਾ ਇਕ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
    Gurā ik ḏehi bujẖā▫ī.
The Guru has given me this one understanding:
    ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੬॥
Sabẖnā jī▫ā kā ik ḏāṯā so mai visar na jā▫ī. ||6||
there is only the One, the Giver of all souls. May I never forget Him! ||6||

It's interesting to note, the number of time jap bani uses "IK"  It starts with Ik OngKar, and Ik refers to not just the 'one', but also the One consciousness, the one ONG, the One shabad, the One teaching, ...everything that is 'One' coming from the 'One'        If we pay close attention to this throughout the bani, it could shine some brighter lights .
On another level ,..."je ik gur kī sikẖ suṇī."  could imply .  "To listen to the ONE teaching/shabad/naad, just the ONCE"  it then goes into next pangti with "Gurā ik ḏehi bujẖā▫ī. ""The Guru has given me this one understanding"  ..........Again, the "IK"..the "one" understanding from the "one" ong-kar
The pangti also says,.... we all have questions and want to learn; which is why we go to Guru. But most of us only want hear the answers we like to hear or what suit us in maya.  The pangti is saying, "learn and listen to the teachings, and you'll find the treasures of answers that are already within you"   The whole access to universal gyan is within all of us, but we never know where to begin.
Looking at the shabad this pangti is from.....It describes the outer actions that people do around the planet. However, deep down towards the earth's core, there are many precious stones and jewels. Surrounding us in the skies, there are thousands of beautiful stars shining as diamonds and gems.   And right inside you, into the hidden core of your mind(where your jyot lives), are millions of gems, jewels and rubies..  These out of this world treasures ,CAN literally be experienced within you.

Yes thats the spirit. God does not want us to beg.... and keep asking... rather start giving and sharing and planting.
It all comes back to you that one day. However we are also not supposed to hope to get the fruits of our giving and planting.
This is the way to control the mind and keep it in one place... at the feet of our Guru Ji.

Rather I would say... he has blessed us with what we earned and are able to handle. Therefore looking into the past does not really benefit us. A forward thinking is more beneficial. The past teaches us things... we should plan for the future and set ourselves goals which we want to achieve. The future gives us hope. Every new day gives us another chance to do what we feel we did not achieve yesterday or today.
How great is God... we view churasi as a punishment. However he has given us lives over and over again so that we can learn at our own pace.

God just requires submission... the more total it is - the better the results.
There are many sakhis of  bhagats who sat down doing bhagti and God himself came to perform their jobs.
aap karo humre sab kaaj. ... I think this pangti is from chaupai.
Bhagats or devotees are supposed to get absorbed in the name of God and leave everything else to his hukam.

Crystal you talk about us about being on fhe bandwagon of this baba or that baba etc, but you are hanging off the nuts of niddar. You cant seem to get off of them and see that he is a twat and nobody wants to know him. You are too busy sucking his dong to realize that he is just a loser who got his ass handed to him by uptej singh and there is video proof of it.
Does niddar still accept hadh torh challenges? Cause im ready to challenge this guy when he comes to canada
Please tell me what his excuse is for eating kfc and mcdonalds? Whats his excuse for leaving his wife and children and eloping with a gori? What can he teach anybody when this guy doesnt give two shits about sikhi!

sikhni777 reacted to sarabatam in Contradictions in Gurbani?
There are no contradictions in Gurbani once we properly contextualized and conceptualize it. In order to reconcile gurbani arths which appear contradictory, we need to find if gurbani arths or gurbani position are conveyed from absolute point of view or relative point of view and see them as such.
For eg- asa ki var or anand sahib position on world being Vahiguru/Har ka roop and Shalok Nauvan position world being illusion. Both positions are correct, one position is from absolute view point of bhramgyan non duality-advait perspective and other position which states world being illusion is from relative view point for seeker whose surti  fragmented, affected by duality and maya-illusion its mentioned to raise surti of seeker who are stuck in worldly pleasures. Both positions are given to cater various spiritual seeker sitting on various different stages of consciousness.

was discussing the same with a friend and he told me about what Baba Bulleshah would say - Kazi Panj vele te Bulla har vele

...which means for the Kazi it was Namaz time  five times in a day  however for Bulleshah every time was for namaz..

I find this inspiring ..restrictions if you ponder on will always be..i have given in to such excuses and lost time...i feel it was just excuses for me for not doing bhagti.

I experienced a hug from God.  I really needed a hug from the man of the house I.e. my husband to be specific.  However he had made it clear that a hug will not just be a hug..  Some more will accompany it.
So this day,  I was in a lonely but prayerful mood. Either I miss my prayer time or I miss the hug.  I decided to forego the hug and settled down for prayer.  That night I got my hug from invisible arms which I understand were of the almighty.  I also understood that he has a spirit form.
I woke up feeling a bit sorry for God. Then I thought he has the whole world in his hands and he can get a body anytime he wants to. So anytime I come across the pangtis which talk about Guru ji getting a hug from God, I remember that experience and how God is there to provide support to his bhagats.
Funny enough I never paid any heed to those pangtis before.  There are a number of them actually - now when I read them.

In total, there are 4 types of Pralayas:

    1. NITYA PRALAYA : This takes place every moment, when the atoms that compose the various forms in the universe unite and disperse. e.g Birth and Death of animals, humans etc.

    2. NAIMITTIKA PRALAYA : This takes place during Brahma's night in which the three worlds (Bhuh, Bhuvah and Suvah) continue to exist but are made uninhabitable. The souls of individuals also continue to exist to be reincarnated in the next daytime of Brahma. During that period Brahma holds within himself all the beings of the material and the celestial worlds in a suspended state and sleeps.

    3. PRAKRITA PRALAYA : It takes place when Brahma completes his 100 years of life span. It is the change of the universe from its present to a latent condition and its dissolution in unmanifested nature, in which no evolution can take place until the dawn of a new manvantara. In this condition of dissolution, the Jivas remaining unliberated lie in a dormant state and get manifested again in the next creation.

    4. ATYANTIK PRALAYA : All forms, space, Maya, and time are absorbed into God and God alone remains. All 5 elements merged as follows: Earth->Water->Fire->Air->Sky->Maya->GOD/WAHEGURU. Anyone who actually merges with GOD can be said to be blessed with ATYANTIK kalyan because there is NO coming back to anything once merged with GOD.

Now, some of the mathematics is as follows:
The time of each yug is as follows:

    Satya-yuga: 1,728,000 human/solar years OR 4,800 demigod years OR 4 charanas.
    Treta-yuga: 1,296,000 human/solar years OR 3,600 demigod years OR 3 charanas.
    Dvapara-yuga: 864,000 human/solar years OR 2,400 demigod years OR 2 charanas.
    Kali-yuga: 432,000 human/solar years OR 1,200 demigod years OR 1 charanas.

    1 cycle of 4 yugs = 1 Mahayug

1 day of Brahma = 1 Kalpa = 1000 Mahayugs = Life span of other devtas = 12,000 years of Devas = 14 manvantara periods each one lasting 71 Mahayugs

    A day of Brahma equals
    (14 times 71 mahayugas) + (15 x 4 Charanas)
    = 994 mahayugas + (60 Charanas)
    = 994 mahayugas + (6 x 10) Charanas
    = 994 mahayugas + 6 mahayugas
    = 1000 mahayugas

Brahma Life span = 100 Brahma years = 311 trillion and 40 billion human years

    One interesting fact is that:
1 human year = 1 day of Demigods (6 months day and 6 months night)

When the sun is in the southern side of the universe (summer in the Southern Hemisphere), the demons have day and demigods have night, and vice versa when the sun is in the Northern Hemisphere.

During our one human year, the devtas sleep for 6 months and danav wakes for that 6 months, and during the 6 months when devtas wake - denav sleeps.

The above might explain why some very old people say that good deeds done in particular month carry more fal/fruit/reward as compared to other months. Same thing as in taking bath during Amrit vela has more importance than during day.

According to Puranic accounts, we are now in the twenty-eight yuga cycle of the seventh manvatara period of the present day of Brahma. Brahma is in 51st year of his life span.

One more thing is that first 10,000 years of Kaliyug has increased Bhagti Influence. This is mentioned in mentioned in "Brahma Vaivarta Puran".

Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji also mentioned that after some years of Kaliyug, all the tiraths of this world will cease to function, which mean they will NO longer provide good to visitors because the devtas providing the good will abandom the tiraths.
Babaji has also confirmed that the current life of Kaliyug is around 5000 years.
