  1. Ok will try 2.5 hours simran during midnight when I can manage it.Currently I do it after 6am usually. I really hope God doesn't come to me dressed up in this costume,I'd rather take a pass.
  2. The earliest I've done it was at 4am.I don't experience any sound at the moment. I usually just do out loud Vaheguru simran.Last year was 20mins daily. This year upped it to 30mins. You do it in darkness or any lights on at 12.30am?I've tried in darkness but had to switch on the lights as I had a terrible feeling of being watched by something.I think its just in my head as I've watched too many horror movies.
  3. I've noticed you mention this time many times.Whats the difference compared to starting at 3 or 4am?Very powerful in what sense? For 2.5hrs during naam jaap you sit on the floor?Do you adjust your legs when they go numb?More than 30mins and I feel like my legs start killing me.
  4. How does it work there, are you encouraged to take the bible home?Do powdered milk tins suddenly appear in your hotel room with a note saying you'll burn in hell if you don't convert?
  5. Came across this vid. This fella raises some valid points that need further investigation.
  6. Very fishy.People helping in this Farmers Protest are suddenly ending up dead. Before this it was a mechanic who was fixing trucks for the protesters whose car caught fire and burnt him at night. Now this. Those close to Santji should examine this "suicide note" closely and compare it with his previous writings.
  7. I 2nd Ragmaala veers question. How to experience and accept He is all? There has to be steps towards that realization. What good is there in knowing it's all Him?Shouldn't we experience that it's all Him? Yes fearlessness would go away as dead mauled bodies have no fear in them
  8. Great. You didn't miss out on anything. Now you have a healthier body and mind from everyone else in your family.
  9. Thanks veerji for the encouragement.Sadh-sangat is 1 thing I haven't been blessed with.I just do online sangat through youtube, this forum etc.Hopefully I can find good like minded sangat. Very true but thankfully i faced no such reaction from family only friends.
  10. I haven't drank or smoked in almost 2 years.A huge factor in quitting alcohol is the ability to distance yourself from other drinker friends as alcohol is a social drug and the further you are from drinkers the lower chance you have of being tempted to drink. This is the toughest part.Your so called friends will mock, belittle and straightforward get hostile with you as you move further away from them because they feel insecure and inferior that you are able to quit and they are still dependent on drinks. They will do their best to drag you in with all sorts of tricks and if that doesn't work they start calling you a bad friend, ungrateful, unmanly, holier than thou etc.Just ignore and realize they are not your true friends. Next is to establish friendship with non drinkers and get involved in activities where drinking is not present or taboo.
  11. Awesome mountain background. Is the images section on the front page necessary as its the same old images?Great upgrade admin
  12. Was wondering the same thing. Do you mean the Buddhist system of meditation on the breath and other body parts etc? You mentioned Ishavar Amalok, any english version vailable ?
  13. Namdharis again prove they are the Indian governments loyal running dog. Dalip I thought your brother expelled you from his cult? What happened? So now this cult has 2 "Gurus"?I think these guys took the saying '2 heads are better than 1' 'literally. These are the 2 wannabe gurus who killed their own previous "Guru" Jagjeets wife in cold blood for their power struggle over this cult. Before lecturing the Sikh panth with bullshit propaganda you might want to look after your own house first dalip.
  14. Good in what sense? Please be specific. If by good you mean he's pointing out hypocrisies, superstitious beliefs and misguided practices then yes, what he says does have truth in it as they are happening in India and worldwide as people seem to be getting absorbed in maya and are not interested in true bhagti and prefer to do rituals for earthly pleasures. Even then his tactics of mocking people and shaming them does no benefit as it does not rehabilitate anyone and only creates more defiance and stubbornness. Just focusing on the negatives in the Panth and mocking it on stage does not make someone a Parcharak as no Gurbani Gyan is being transmitted. If by good you mean he's promoting Naam Simran, Gurbani, Sikh Itihaas, Katha and Unity of the Panth then No, what he 'preaches' totally contradicts Sikhi and causes rifts in an already fragile Panth. In my very basic reading of SGGS translations online, again and again the emphasis is put on Naam Simran. Any system or movement that denies Naam Simran, mocks those who practice it and distorts the meaning of Gurbani is doing no favours to Sikhi no matter how noble their intentions may be. I suggest you head to the Meditation/Simran/Bhakti section and look up the stickied threads especially the Meditation thread.Read it with an open mind and try Simran for a couple of months. After that you decide if any dhunda or phunda is good or not. Studies have shown that humans daydream up o 47% of our waking time. So why not spend at least 15 minutes (1%) of the day on Simran. You don't lose anything anyways.
  15. Found this while reading a biography of a Thai Buddhist Monk. "Meditation is a good means for making a clean break with the unseemly business of the kilesas. Meditation techniques are arguably somewhat difficult to practice, but that’s because they are designed to put pressure on the mind and bring it under control, much like trying to bring a monkey under control in order to tame it. Meditation techniques are actually methods for developing self-awareness. This means observing the mind which is not content to just remain still but tends instead to jump about like someone who’s been scalded with hot water. Observing the mind requires mindfulness to keep us aware of its movement. This is aided by using one of a number of Dhamma themes as an object of attention to keep the mind stable and calm during meditation. A very popular method and one that gives good results is mindfulness of breathing. Other popular themes include the use of a word such as “buddho”, “dhammo”, “sangho”,or kesã, lomã, nakhã, dantã, taco in forward and reverse order, or meditation on death, or whatever theme seems most suitable. The mind must be forced to stay exclusively with that object during meditation. Calm and happiness are bound to arise when the mind depends on a particular Dhamma theme as a good and safe object of attention. What is commonly referred to as a ‘calm citta’ or a ‘citta integrated in samãdhi’ is a state of inner stability that is no longer associated with the initial object of attention, which merely prepared the citta by holding it steady. Once the citta has entered into samãdhi, there exists enough momentum for the citta to remain in this state of calm, independent of the preparatory object, whose function is temporarily discontinued while the citta rests peacefully. Later when the citta withdraws from samãdhi, if time permits, attention is refocused on the initial Dhamma theme. When this is practiced consistently with dedication and sustained effort, a mind long steeped in dukkha will gradually awaken to its own potential and abandon its unskillful ways. The struggle to control the mind, which one experiences in the beginning stages of training, will be replaced by a keen interest in the task at hand. The citta becomes unforgettably calm and peaceful once it enters samãdhi. Even if this happens only once, it will be an invigorating and indelible experience. Should it fail to occur again in subsequent attempts at meditation, an indescribable sense of loss and longing will linger in the citta for a long time. Only with further progress, as one becomes more and more absorbed in increasingly subtler states of calm, will the frustration of losing the initial state of calm be forgotten."
  16. 1) Don't get involved with intoxicants and make friends that are not involved in it too. 2)Put in much more effort in studies. 3)Start Naam Simran and stick to it no matter what happens.
