  1. The Maharajah's box: an imperial story of conspiracy, love and a guru's prophecy by Christy Campbell (Author) Anyone got a copy needed 5 pages from it scanned if anyone has would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Gurfateh, thanks for that, wonderful post. Could you give some more information on the author please. Bears a storng influence from the writers personal inclinations and intuitions towards Bhagti, which is perhaps what makes it more interesting. With regards to the agreement with water, I recall coming across that idea a while back but cant remember the source. Anyone know of other sources for that teaching? Looking foward to the next parts.
  3. From http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/54129-jathedar-baba-joginder-singh-ji-buddha-dal/ Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! A short video message to Sikhs around the world from the Jathedar of Budha Dal, filmed by Sikh Channel crew at Hola Mohalla 2010: Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  4. ....if the sikh groups before singh sabha had been perfect it would have never arisen. Agreed. But that doesnt make Singh Sabha prefect. Singh Sabha cannot just be thought of as a movement (independence of Gurdwara etc) it was also a set of ideals, a philosophy, a set of theories etc.
  5. Caught the first half of the katha, it was great. There is more of Giani Sher Singhs katha available http://www.nihangsingh.org/website/mm-shereaudio.html
  6. There will be an Amrit Sanchar at Raqba in the evening on Vaisakhi day just like every other Sangrand. Baba Joginder Singh usually does seva in the Panj Pyarai.
  7. In reply to some of Das's points: The Panj Pyarai gave their heads physically in the first Amrit sanchar ceremony. Many Amrit sanchars took place afterwards and not once have I read that any Sikhs head was physically taken before taking amrit. Therefore, physically having your head cut off for an amrit sanchar is not tradition, it was a unique occurence and sacrafice by supreme souls to symbolically illustrate the surrenderence before the Guru. Its not a case of trying to mimic what the Guru's done, Maharaj didnt go hunting on their own, they took Sikhs with them and encouraged them to hunt. Nihang Singhs still go hunting, however I think its illegal in India. Also there are some sakhis of Baba Mitt Singh relating to lions in the jungles around the Godavari River.
  8. Neo Veer you wrote: Many nihang singhs beleive without parkash of sri dasam granth, amrit sanchar is invalid. That is very inaccurate.
  9. Have you read Chandi Di Var? If you had you would know it quite clearly starts 'Taihee Durga Saajkay Daita Da Nass Karraiya.' If people didnt have an agenda to push that would quite clearly be the end of discussion regarding who is praised in Chandi Di Var.
  10. http://www.panthic.org/audio_videos.php In the first recording on the left, Giani Sher Singh talks about the difference between scholars who study in the traditional sampradai and those who study in universities, noting the differences areas of emphasis and areas of study. Enjoy.
  11. baba santa singh mentions in this how chandi di var is to be recited.
  12. Because your campaign is defined by its stance on Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and thats what this whole issue is about, as I have said.
  13. As the Jathedar of Damdami Taksal whose pupose is the propogation of Gurbani and as an avid supporter of Dasam Bani and its parkash, the Sri Dasam Granth Sahib issue is relevant if you wish to use Sant Jarnail Singhs name. If you are using Sant Jarnail Singhs voice there as you feel that he is authoritive commentor on Sikh affiars, that you cannot dodge issue of Dasam Bani - its parkash and his comments saying those who do not believe in it are nasstik. We are looking at this in context, because the context is on the Nindia of Dasam Bani which Darshan Lal and his supporters have done. It is for this reason they have been kicked out of the Panth. So if you wish to use Sant Jarnail Singh in another one of your camps childish propoganda videos that his firm belief in reading and performing parkash of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji is entirely relevant. Everyone knows this, you guys are just making a mokery of yourselves.
  14. Malvei De Mahapursh, im surprised they managed to fit them all into 1000 pages. Old Nihang Singh boli: "Malve'ch vasda sadh, majhe vich chor."
  15. I was with Baba Joginder Singh when one of the commitees (cant remember which mela for) came to give the prize money for the horse. One of Bidhi Chand Dals horses came first and Budha Dal horse came second and third. different horses have differen purposes, some for endurance, some for sprint, some have a very nice chal.Badal with their money can buy expensive breeds of horses, such horses dont really belong in rural competitions tbh. do you get endurance races? Nihangs have their horses going non stop from morning to night sometimes so how long would an endurance race last? Heres Nihang karmjit singh riding a marwari horse, this singh taught be horse ridiing years back when he was at raqba, he did seva of ther horses at raqba for many years since he was a young lad but moved elsewhere a couple of yers back. In terms of horsemanship as well theres Baba Mugger Singh whose world famous he has one or two protegees. theres also two or three young nihang singh in budha dal to look out for, been winning a lot of competitions - one of thems the one that featured in the incredible india advertisement.
  16. Nihang Singhs often set off early in the morning and arrive at their desitanation late at night, doing this everday on horseback. If a horse is big and heavy it will tire quicker becasuse it has to carry the Singhs weight as well as its own. Their horses are proper strong, in competitions at punjab rural games or where you come to see who has the best animal, their horses usually take first second and third spot. A panel of animal experts from some science committe thing trying to revive the keeping of horses in Punjab come to Raqba now and again to check up on a few the horses. They have done quite a few tests on one of them saying it is off immaculate breed and that should it ever go unwell or anything they will themselves pay for it to recieve the highest quality healthcare etc.
  17. For someone that has such poor grasp of english writing, he has fantastic spelling - the two dont go together.
  18. I also have to agree with panthdardi that there is a lack of respect shown to Guru Granth Sahib. This is made very clear at the start of the video when Giani Ram Singh starts by saying "Dhan Dhan Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj Ji Di Nigge Godh..." This is blatant beadbi and he clearly isnt showing enough respect to Guru Granth Sahib Ji? Oh my god, I cant stop crying since I heard him say it. ***Note sarcasm*** panthdardi - jog on mate, your boring son
  19. lassi - water, milk and plain yoghurt (a lil bit of sugar if u want for taste) is the best thing to decerase your pitt. avoid things like honey, chocolate these are very garm and will increase your pitt. drink plenty of water, i would say avoid hot milk until your pitts at a decent level. cous cous used in shardaee is also very cold so reduces your pitt. Ultimately what you have to do is realise which foods or substances increase your pitt and you gradually have to cut them down. nuts are really bad, especially almonds have a lot of garmee if u do use almonds soak them in cold water over night as this takes the garmesh out. avoid spicy food - fried food is your worst enemy. its simple basically, some foods and substances increase the garmee inside you some cool your body down. You have to really avoid the garm stuff for a while before your pitt sorts out then after that you can have a balnced diet. Avoid fried food for the plague for about 3 months, otherwise no matter what you do when you have a samosa or something brings your pitt back.
  20. fateh veere thanks for sharing, is that all they showed on tv? Sant Jagjit Singhs speach cuts off when it gets good, and Nihang Salinder Singh whose head pathi in the Budha Dal just now looks like he was standing to do a talk.
  21. Gurfateh, Theres a sant from the Bhurivale lineage who I think is based mostly at Hardiwar but comes to Raqba quite often to visit Baba Joginder Singh. If he doesnt make it for a month or so when he comes hes always very upset and tells Baba Ji how hes been longing for their darshan for so long. Sometimes he comes all that way, sits for a few hours but doesnt say anything really, gets up and says Baba Ji has done a lot of kirpa by giving darshan and extends a request asks Baba Ji to comes visit them with the Dal at Hardiwar. When they do talk it always makes interesting conversation to listen, the beauty flowers that they are looking at when its time for the afternoon walk or gun contained within certain plans, or the ways of sansar etc. After he leaves Baba Ji spends a while mentioning how great it is that so many different Udasi, Nirmale and Hindu sadhus visit Raqba daily and how this glorifies Maharaj's darbar with the presence of so many holy men. Every sant or santni is given a small amount of money and clothing or any necessity they may require. Always nice seeing the multicultural aspect of the Nihangs and the prem & satkar that exists between mahapursh of diverse traditions. Akaaal
