I am going to be in Jalandhar for a while are there any places where i can learn gurmukhi (gurbani) from. I heard the Udasis have a place in jalandhar any ideas please

no that crap. i had family that fought in ww2 and the germans had taken pics of sikh pows and distributed them around the german armies to show that sikhs are human etc. As sikh had repuatation for being harsh fighthers. Its also a well known fact that the japs and nazis asked the british indian troops to go against the crown and if they do they will (nazis and japs) will grant india independance.

my dad was brought up in what was British east africa, he tells me there was alot of parchar etc, near the Singh Sahba Gurdwara there was a Girls skool for sikh girls etc , but this was in 50s 60s and they came to uk just as it was being made independent, so hes not been back since

yea i agree in bangkok there is harmony with all of the sikhs, even neeldaris and namtaris sit together at the Singh Sahba Gurdwara in bangkok, i was suprised at the unity between sikhs there, its makes me sad to think in the uk we cant have the same,

In southampton there is a Bhatra community and i went to skool with a few of them and my mate was telling me about the origins etc, well their caste is acutual fortune telling, just like a jatt might be farming etc and so on.

bhenji i know people in southampton and i know a people not naming names who spoke to the committee harjap and he did say those very words to that persons face. its strange how the committee just wanna know who wrote it rather then address the current issues, Theres hardly any practicing sikh youth in southampton i remember when i came to southampton they all have chairs in the langar hall etc, and its very rare to see a gurdwara in the uk and india which practice that there no prachar or anything like there is in bham or london etc its sad people have to resort to this to get youth these day involved

Wednesday 20th of december a meeting happened at the Gurdwara Nanaksar in southampton. The main committee suggested a bhangra bash this weekend in order to celebrate the shaheedi of the Sahibjadai. The youth committee was consulted and out of them only one bhenji opposed the idea. The committee main reason for this bhangra bash is to attract the kids. One of the Committee members Harjinder Singh Virdee (general sec) said lets move with the modern times. Harjaap singh Lakhpuri ( stage sec) said bhangra has said our punjabi language and kids learn punjabi so they can understand the lyrics. good videos keep them up, what is niddar singh up to these days, i saw him and this other guy in india in the summer while i was at budda dal, he said hes writing a book on the nihang dals, at first i wasnt sure if it was niddar singh cos i have only seen pics of him.
