  1. It is an expression of art . I totally agree with that. The problem is when people take it for real. I went to a gurdwara in Jaladnahr where on the entrance there was a life size painting purporting to be of Akali Guru Gobind Singh, and a youth about 20 ish on his way out touched the feet of this painting with his forehead, and and then with his hands. This disturbs my mindset drawof because this is just going into idolworship. And its hapnin in the gurdwaras. You are easliy dsturbed methinks
  2. Originally they were all amritdhari, but as they jhave come under the influnce of th snaskritn texts and hindu mat they have partially abandoned the Amrit sanchaar.
  3. Regarding the Mohan Singh Kartar Singh tape, you should make up your own minds after listening to the tape recording. This tape clearly states that Sewa of the taksal is gioven to Kartar Singh and the sewa of The gurdwara to Mohan Singh. Sant Gurbachan Singh further states that if Mohan Singh does fulfil this sewa then Kartar should assume responsibility for it. He futher gave his siropa to Kartar Singh and asks all the jatha to help and guide Kartar Singh. An interesting note after the fight at boparai was that Sant Jarnail Singh was present and he witnessed all that went on. He made a small reference to it at sometime, showing that what went on was not inaccordance with Sant Gurbachan Singh order. The Gurdwaras name is Akhand Prakash methinks. not sure. Mohan Singh was much older than Kartar Singh and so people resented someone young like Kartar Singh coming in. Again this happpende with Sant jarnail Singh coming in, it was resented by some of the elder members of the jatha. chatanga
  4. Fateh to all Why is sanskrit and sanskrit texts essential for a Sikh to further himself ? Dont we have all that is required knowledge-wise in the Aad Guru Darbar? and Dasam Guru Darbar? Or is there a shortage of knowledge in these Granths that made Akali Guru Gobind Singh send 5 Sikhs to Kashi to "top-up" thier knowledge? Have you seen the pics of the nirmala on shastarvidya website with the paint on their foreheads? Is that something that Akali Guru Gobind Singh Jee encouraged? These Nirmalas I dont think are the Nirmalas of Akali Guru Gobind Singhs times, same as the Udasis and Nihangs. BUt then again neither are the Sikhs. Forgiveness for any mistakes chatanga
  5. This is reply to RupZ. I am no scholar but a chatanga , but I wish to offer this in reply to your post. The 5 Sikhs that were sent to Benaras or Kashi were refused vidya there becasue being nonbrahmins they were not entitled to learn the sanskrit language. On their return to Damdma sahib Guru Maharaj taught them the essential knowkedge they were refused at Kashi, and henceofrth Damdama Sahib became known as Guru Ki Kashi. Just like Guru Ki Tribeni, it was seperate from the Hindus. Throughout 3 yugs the brahmins refused to share the sanskrit texet with non brahmans do you think that in the age of Kal, they would share it? Its unlikely. The Nirmalas and some of their supporters on the shastarvidya website calim the Hindu Kashi connection becasue as a smaprdaye they have fallen well below the standards that Guru Gobind Singh set out for them. ie mainatance of the 5 ks. Why dont they do parchaar in the gurdwaras. In 20 years of being conscious i have only once seen a nirmala sant at our gurdwara.
  6. What are the origins of the nirmalas, even they dont know. What they and other samprdayes say about their origins dousent stand up to the standards of Sikhi. Please inform this chatanga what you know about the Nirmala origins.
  7. Those photos are very good but i have to say (again) that the paintings of somebody who is supposed to be Akali Guru Nanak is quite rubbish. So are all the others that purport to be the true paintings of the Gurus. Why the 4 samprdayes place such a great emphasis on these paintings I dont understand. Aad Guru Darbar says gur ki murat shabad jane - the murti of the guru is the WORD. The sooner we get rid of stuff like these paintings the better.
