  1. This whole thing is a sad and sorry tale. It makes me realise how lucky we are that the police can't just be bought here. Does anyone know what happened to Ratinderbir Kaur and how she is doing now?
  2. Hi das, a friend of mine had a small daughter who got signs of eczema, she was a bit older than yours maybe 8 months I think, but what she did was give her only fresh boiled food (no jars) and massaged pure mustard oil on her every day, however your baby is only four months old so I don't know about the diet, she must still be on milk. I don't know whether you have tried switching her milk? Perhaps she is reacting to something but it's best to ask the health visitor first.
  3. Laal Singh, Gurbani is beautiful, it is full of wisdom. As you read and meditate, more and more meanings become apparent. It is also apparent that there is a paradox at work at times. In some places Guru ji says naam is recited by those who are blessed, at others Guru ji is asking for the naam himself or Vaheguru ji's glance of grace, but at others Guru ji says that as a man sows he reaps. The bhagat's also say things like "oh my mind, realise your true self, you are the jot saroop", and also instruct the person to jap naam. Sukhmani Sahib gives instructions for those wishing to alleviate various sorrows and they tend to be to either to destroy the ego, stay in the society of the the Saadhs, or do constant naam japna. People do have choices and I understand where you are coming from Laal Singh, but Gurbani cannot be summed up by saying we have no choice, hukum also means the eternal laws of Vaheguru, or Vaheguru ji himself, for he is at one the law and the universe, according to his laws nature is at work, the planets revolve, and the human body regenerates, according to his laws certain actions equal certain reactions. However, he has also told us that we can overcome our past and past misdeeds are forgiven or washed away with naam, that the mind which is full of dirt such as ignorance, greed, ego, envy, etc can be washed with naam. After all that, what I was trying to say Laal Singh is, I do believe we have a choice even within Vaheguru ji's hukum, however I will read what you have to say and think some more. I am aware that I really do not know much and am always looking to learn more. Thanks.
  4. just read the reply at the top of the page. thanks.
  5. The ghee jot is always lit at akhand paats aswell and thats why many ladies bring their own ghee to the gurdwara to put in the jot dish as this is never allowed to be extinguished. I was told that good spirits are attracted to the smell of the ghee and especially shaheed singhs! Anyone ever heard this?
  6. I find these theories alarming. Who knows what will happen if anything, but it is true, an awful lot of people talk of the year 2012 and some people say theres no such thing as coincidence. Why that year and none other? Even astrologers speak of the year although they just say there will be ramifications. The foretold future looks grim to say the least, I don't understand why it has to be that way. Guru ji told us quite a bit, but I think it is awful that there might come a time when we will need to look so hard to find a singh, especially since I am married to one and have given birth to one in the making! (well if he wants to be a singh - that's up to him)
  7. If anyone knows of any other Sevapanthi bhagats coming to England then please let me know. I would love to do darshan and maybe speak with them. I would like spiritual guidance, and a chance to be inspired by living humble sikhs who do so much.
  8. aww that is so lovely. Friends and society (sangat) do a wonderful job of keeping people mentally uplifted. It shouldn't be taken for granted, it is a gift.
  9. On a more practical level, I think you can find some Bani in arabic at Mata Gujri Library which is situated in Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara in Leicester. A very fine library if I don't say so myself! I spent many happy times there.
  10. I too have experienced that tying joora on top of the head and combing the hair twice a day not only results in a very small amount of tangles but also helps the hair to grow long. Doing the above in addition to lots of meditation will yield amazing long locks.
  11. It's good to respect family too. I don't want this to be about whether you should tie beard up or not, I hope Vinegar has got the help he wanted, and I hope he fares well in the job interviews!
  12. I did not mean to offend, I just wondered whether you had received negative reactions to your beard that's all. I appreciate that everyone is different and I enjoy seeing the rainbow of Waheguru Ji's colours.
  13. Wahegurubol, why try to tame something of such beauty? Whatever shape or size I think each person should celebrate their beard for it's uniqueness. The bushier the better!
