  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh "Parkarma, is when you walk around the guru granth saihb. Normal people do it clockwise, Nihangs do it anit-clockwise, makes more sense to do it anti-clockwise." I was just wondering how it makes more sense to do it anti-clockwise? I always thought that the reason behind doing it clockwise is so that Guru Ji's Saroop will always be on our right side. Since we always have bigger/stronger and well respected people on our right side. Bhul Chuk Mauph Waheguru JI Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  2. What is the meaning behind doing Parkarma of Guru Granth Sahib ji?
  3. fateh ji, Many Kathavachiks who have visited the Gurudwara in my city have mentioned about the library it's amazing! Steel Bangle, yes proper parkash takes place, someone has taken the Seva.
  4. Fateh, As Simran24-7 mentioned, it’s the soul that meets Vaheguru. When we die, we will be cremated; our body will be reduced to ashes. So we might as well donate our organs if they come in use to others. Fateh
  5. Is Sikhism a faith of hope and optimism? Author: unknown Yes, the Gurus prescribed the sovereign remedy of the Name for the ills of mortals. While some religions condemn men as miserable sinners destined to damnation and the unending fire of hell, Sikhism believes that there is hope even for the worst man. Koda the cannibal and Sajjan the thug, were reclaimed to good life by Guru Nanak with the gift of Naam. All is never lost. If man realises his mistakes and shifts the centre of him life from the lower self to the higher self, he can still attain the highest goal. But this change comes through the Guru’s word (Bani) and God’s Grace. In moments of crisis, even the most pious and virtuous of men may succumb to temptation. Undoubtedly, evil and sorrow test the mettle of man, but his true support though all his trails is faith in God and prayers for His Grace. Sikhism is a practical religion. It shows mankind how to live a worthy and useful life in the world. It teaches him how to face and overcome evil. With selfless service, devotion to duty, Guru and God, man can work his way to self-realization. He trust in God, fells that he is with him, and that He will guide him to his goal. When a Sikh has to face trails and tortures and everything seems lost, he prays for Divine guidance from his scripture, Guru Granth Sahi, and bears all difficulties with faith and fortitude. GURBANI affords him true solace and enables him to accept the Divine Will (Hukam) patiently. He prays in a spirit of dedication and not with expectation of any reward. A true Sikh never despairs even in the most adverse circumstances. He feels that he is in the company of the Guru, which gives him strength and he faces every crisis with courage and unshakable faith in God and the Guru. Sikhism is suited to the challenges of the modern age. Mr. Bunker, ex-ambassador of USA to India once said: “Cardinal principles of Sikhism are very much akin to my own religion. It is the religion of our time.†As pointed out by Dr. Arnold Toynbee, “In the coming religious debate, the Sikh religion and its scripture the Adi Granth, will have something of special value to say to the rest of the world.â€

Fateh, This may sound like a joke but it’s more serious than that. Nariender’s time will come but the sad thing is that he has followers and many of them are Armitdhari!!! Anyway, with Guru’s kirpa they will see the light and the only place they will get everything they want is from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I think we need unwavering faith in our Vaheguru that way nothing could take us away from our Guru ji. So the best thing to do is to do Ardas for the followers of nariender. Fateh

Yup, I think we’re talking about the same guy. Here are some of the things that were in the newspaper. It was in Punjabi so you’ll have to put up with my lousy translation I didn't include my view on this yet, sorry couldn't help it with the emoticons. Nariender Grewal was in a car accident in 1989 and claims that his soul went to sachkhand but was told he still had more time on earth. Supposedly he was well respected in sachkhand :? . Nariender’s followers call his first wife “vadi guru mata†(davinder) and the second wife is reffered to as “choti guru mata†(mandeep). It is said 42 life cycles ago mandeep was nariender’s wife. Even in that janam neriender was a saint, and amrik (who was mandeep’s husband in this life) was a thug. Amrik had murdered nariender and had kidnapped mandeep and the kids, he had raped her. Now in this life time amrik has to pay for his bad deed and offered his wife to nariender :? . “Only a Brahmgayani will understand that this relationship between mandeep and nariender is right (sareerak samband jaeez hai)† says one of his followers. After getting married in 2001, Nariender, mandeep, davinder and amrik bought a house together in 2002  . Here are some things that nariender had recorded in a video: -I’m not only Nanak but I’m his father :x -I call God a maha kanjar and I’m even his father :x -I’ll give you mukti  -Where in Bani does it say that God is in the Pothi, (pointing to himself) here is a saint  -(Guru) Gobind Singh took off his chola and offered it to (Guru) Granth (Sahib) well I took it out after 300 years and I’m wearing it now, I have Satnam with me. :? - (Guru) Granth (Sahib) has nohukam on me. Now the son has become the mother, he is not my mother, I am his mother. I wrote to the dharm raj to take Him in. I have given him mukti. :x -I am not scared of God. I am Satguru’s father and his mother. I am calling God my son, listen Satguru, Akal Purkh, Sat sri akal. -I’m the Satguru of Satguru come be my enemy if you wish :x  …..a lot more other stuff

  10. CHARHDI KALA Charhdi Kala signifies in the Sikh tradition a perennially blossoming, unwilting spirit, a perpetual state of certitude resting on the unwavering belief in Divine justice. The Kala of Sanskrit origin gives a dominant meaning which is ‘Energy’. Charhdi, in Punjabi means rising, ascending, soaring. So, Charhdi Kala would mean an intensely energized, ever–ascending state of the spirit of an individual or of a group. It is characterized by faith, confidence, cheerfulness, courage, fortitude, discipline and resolute willingness to uphold the cherished ideals and readiness to perform the assigned tasks even in the face of the most daunting challenge. In Charhdi Kala there is confidence in the ultimate victory of Truth over falsehood and of Good over evil. Abiding Cheerfulness is its hallmark - "Nanak Naam Charhdi Kala, Tere Bhane Sarbatt da Bhalaa". Courage is that state or quality of mind and spirit which enables one to face dangers with self-possession and resolution. Discipline resulting from training that leads to controlled behavior, mentally and morally, is also an essential constituent of Charhdi Kala. Perpetual readiness to act is another - he pursues the ideals he cherishes, makes no noise over a good deed, and proceeds to another. Kala also means "fine art", so actions in Charhdi Kala become characterized by elegance and gracefulness. It also means playing a winning "Game" according to the accepted rules of the game. To sum up , Charhdi Kala is not just high morale, but also unwavering faith in divine support, certainty of moral victory and sublimity of action. Even in the most adverse of circumstances, its constancy does not wane. source: Sikh.net
  11. Baba Maan Singh is coming to Toronto (Malton) somewhere around the end of Aug-Sep, he'll be here for the Nagar Kirtan. So Gabroo drop by, if you live close by you'll enjoy it for sure!
  12. You’re on the right path, and when you’re on the right path there is no stopping you. If Vaheguru is with you than who can be against you? Don’t worry, with Guru’s kirpa your family will come around. Once they see how determined you are, they sure will accept you for who you are. You just have to take that one step towards Vaheguru.
  13. On a serious note, we don’t eat meat because we would be killing the other life form. If we buy the meat for the dog then wouldn’t we still be encouraging another kill even though we won't be consuming it?
  14. hehe, if he khaala's the dog some mircha, he'll end up being the food!
