  1. intresting that sham chaurasi is given a high status of learning. my cousins are fromthere and they have never mentioned this so i spose that they dont even know this. i was told the the original rabab of Bhai Mardana was destroyed in operation bluestar. anyone shed any light on this?
  2. But it also got me thinking how unbelievable some modern Taksalis are in light of his writings. Some individuals must simply not read this stuff on purpose! These are classic Nirmala works, drawing on puranic quotations, sakhis from purans, references to Pandit Ishar Singh Kashi wale's writings, Mukat Marg granth, Pandit Tara Singh Narotam's work, the infamous Gurbilas Patshahi Chevvin is quoted at a number of points... can you give us any examples you have encountered with the modern taksalis? and also Sant Gurbachans first schooling was with an Udasi Saadh, where he learnt the sanskrit texts before Gurbani, which probably explains this. Modern as you refer to them, Taksalis probably never had this luxury.
  3. jus one question. in another translation of Bhai Mani Singh Ji's letter it said that TREH CHARITAR meant the female character, with TREH meaning female. in hindu or sanskrit number TREH means 3, not 303. if what you describe treh as, woudl that mean the treh charitar were not compiled in one granth at all? ie all in single or maybe groups of 20, 50 etc.
  4. i will try and get to the bottom of this. my friend is very close to Sant Ranjit Singh and i will try to get this Q? to him. yes i noticed the same thing and i tried to explain this to some others and they laughed at what i was saying as they had no knowledge of what it really was about and also cos on the tv you could only see the chains and not the tooth. Sant ji background is that he was a sewak of a sewak of Sant Ishar Singh, im sorry i cant remmeber his name. But deffo his background goes to Rara Sahib.
  5. any katha available online ?
  6. good response to the stupid witch.
  7. Shaheediyan, the 2 Guru Ravidas Gurdwaras I have been to, dont really want the Nihang/taksal types there, becos they do not agree wholely with the views of these samprdayes. The first sikhi camp we did at our local gurdwara we went all out to invite the youngsters from the G.R Gurdwaras, even to the etent of meeting with the committee and discussing our intenetions and ways of doing parchar etc, and having absolutely no mention of the Khalistan movement etc. Not one person came from there even though we still do advertise the camp there still. As one of the top guys there said to me " we are sikhs , but not singhs", and they take out reference to khalsa raaj in the ardas as well. They dont believe in the ks, so how would a taksali/nihang going there be acceptable to them? Gur Sikhya Sahib Granth is not the same as Aad Guru. this is name of the granth that i couldnt remember in my earlier post.
  8. theyve had a granth of thier own for about 10 years. it has the compostions of Bhagats Raidas Ji, Kabir Ji and maharishi Balmik in it. I cant remember te namne of it, but they created to seperate from sikhs. its up to them if they want to do this. its not like they had much respect for Aad Guru anyway.
  9. Singh2 Ji, Doaba consists of the districts of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala and recently Nawanshahr only. Roopnagar or Ropar as its called today has never been classed as being part of Doaba. http://www.sangdhesian.com/images/punjab-map_big.jpg you will see here that anandpur falls east of satluj and outside of doaba.
  10. singh2, a couple of points to reflect upon: "[2]. In the Guru Granth the name Gobind is written both as Govind and Gobind. But in Guru Gobind Singh's writings it always occurs with " b " as Gobind. Guru Gobind Singh spent most of his life in the Doaba area of the Punjab where the words with "v" are pronounced " b . " Guru Gobind Singh used it very often in his writings. He writes bade bade for vade vade; maru bajia for maru vajia; abigat for avigat; Bishnu for Vishnu; barn for varn, and innumerable other cases. So Guruji preferred to write his name as Gobind and not as Govind. " I have never heard of Guru Ji crossing the satluj into doaba in any history. I think you need to find out about this. Sikh history maintains that Guru Ji spent all of his life in Malwa, when he was in Panjab. "Six years after the compilation of he book and two years after the death of Bhai Mani Singh a dispute arose among the scholars as to whether such philosophic writings as the Jap and Akal Ustat should remain side by side with secular writings or whether they should be kept in separate volumes. Such scholars maintained that it was not proper to discuss writings like Triya Charitar in the gurdvaras. No one, of course, doubted that the works were those of Guru Gobind Singh. The matter was decided in a strange way [4] " I dont think that this would have been the point of contention as the original Dasam Granth which was lost at Sirsa had the same more or less content and layout as the granth that Bhai MAni Singh Ji compiled. The point of contention here was whether the saroop of Dasam Guru should be allowed alongside Aad Guru as Guru Ji had given gurgaddi to Aad Guru. other than that an excellent article. Ive learned a lot from it. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
  11. y'day i was fortunate to have darshan of Baba Jagdev Singh of Jain, Hoshiarpur. he is a nirmala and wears bhagwa. you know this Mahapursh, Tsingh ji?
  12. if they can t cremate him, then it will mean little to the man who died. it probably means more to the muslims to have him buried that for the Sikh.
  13. sukhwinder singh is a top guy, but im sure he would cringe at you using the title akali for him. also the katha by Giani Satnam Singh, sporadic though it may seem is certainly worthy of being pon your channel. if you have the means, then try and obtain recordings of RAAG RATAN that used to be on channel panjab. that would be amazing.
  14. sorry i cant remember his name, but it looked like the guy in the video who is explaining about Baba Ji.
  15. i met the current head of the dera when he visited UK about 4 or 5 odd years ago.
  16. i have met a few afghan sikhs. they were cloth merchants in kabul. they spoke punjabi in lehndi dialect what we in sometimes call jaangli ie jungli. panjabi cos of they way they speak. farsi and pashtu are both major languages in afghanistan so no surprise they spoke those fluently as well. to get an idea of the way they spoke panjabi, if you go to channel kbc on sky 836, when they speak panjabi its the same as that. I think it may be also refered to as pothohari. anyway back to afghanistan it is so sad what has happened to the centuries of sikhi in afghanistan. dont think it will ever return to normal for the Sikhs to want to go back there in the numbers they were.
  17. is gursharan singh at Nanaksar Thath? if you can scan the pages for friday. would be a great help. thanks.
  18. can anyone give me notations to anand sahib in ramkali, and/or lavan in suhi? really need the anad sahib asap. many thanks.
  19. Thanks Navjot for thanking me. earlier you said that there is nothing worng in reading gurbani and worshiping shiv Ji. I from myself have not said that you are wrong, but moreso Guru Ji has said that worshiping idols is useless. Many times over. Still you refuse to acknowledge this. Ignore it if it makes you feel better, i mean theres nothing else in your posts. I havent given anyone any instructions but only told what the Gurus instruction is. The half hindu asked his question. he has been given what Guru Ji has said. NO more , no less. No fuss. UNtil you butted in with your dont beleieve these lot.... lets compare your attitude with the akj. One-sided, and on deaf ears.
  20. navjot why are you entertaining your hundreds of thousands of clever thoughts, against the wisdom of GurBani then? None of these will go with you in the end. No one needs to give clever thoughts on this forum, if they simply obeyed Gurbani.
  21. this is due to the "mix-up" between 2 Mani Singhs. One , a Kamboh, same caste as Giani Garja Singh, who came from Multan, and the other Mani Singh who was from vill Longowal, Sangrur. even now on the net i find conflicting accounts of which Mani Singh was the scribe of Aad Guru Sahib. Kambohs claim that it was their Mani Singh who was the shaheed Mani Singh. any can confirm ? also 1 woman chatting drivel is enough for 1 man. if it was 2 they could tag-team him and drive him insane within a matter of moments!!!
  22. it was "a brief intro to sikhism" by the sikh missionary society southall. Bijla Singh answered these questions very comopetently and the answers are/were on this forum. mods may help on this.
  23. Where are the answers to the following questions, BOYS ! A. Do you believe that All Gurus were one soul (jot) and different bodies. Yes or No and explain based on Gurbani im no scholar, but am just beginning to read parts of both granths. so plz forgive me for my intrusion. In Aad Guru I have not yet read anything that says that the Gurus were 1 jot in 10 jamas. However in Bachitar Natak of Dasam Guru, there is a section where it is written that the jot was passed from Guru Nanak to Angad and so on. Then it says that all the spiritually wise people recognised this and only fools thought of them as seperate entities. Is this the answer you was looking for?
