  1. How about you express what exactly is the issue with the article so we/I have something to focus on. Your subtle response does nothing to stir a discussion for me.
  2. http://gurmarag.net/SikhAwareness/Text/Freedkot%20Teeka.pdf download the .pdf above, copy the gurmukhi text and past it in the search field.
  3. specifically what issues do you see with the love/sex divide? do you think the article is not really focused and shifts into too many areas ie: love/sex/tantric/marriage/social foundation etc etc?
  4. few suggestions, Are you intentionally trying to keep a certain size of the pages, or would you be willing to make the pages a bit larger. The reason for this is that given that Laarivaar saroops can seem congested, so I think it would be great if you can lengthen your paper and widen it just a bit so you can put sufficient spaces between the lines. Are you also trying to do as much of this free handed as you can or would you consider using a ruler to keep the line across the letters consistant? I love the size of the letter, I think they are perfect and can be easily read. It is wonderful that you are doing this, my prayers are with you friend. Just a minor correction , beginning of pouri #5 you have written Khukha, instead of Thutha for 'Thaapea' or my eyes might be decieving me.
  5. unfortunately, no author was given when I copied the document.
  6. Japji Sahib express this more clearly, DOlu Drmu dieAw kw pUqu ] dhhaal dhharam dhaeiaa kaa pooth || The mythical bull is Dharma, the son of compassion; sMqoKu Qwip riKAw ijin sUiq ] sa(n)thokh thhaap rakhiaa jin sooth || this is what patiently holds the earth in its place. jy ko buJY hovY sicAwru ] jae ko bujhai hovai sachiaar || One who understands this becomes truthful.
  7. alright, I hope its ok for me to start a new topic. Found this Article on Sex which I thought was very enlightening and profound. I hope no one is allergic from the few sprinkles of Yoga that you will find in the Article. It certainly gave me a breath of fresh air. I personally feel there needs to be more openness to this topic on our Sikh tradition. Outside of every answer to an individual inquiring about Sex is to do 108 mool mantras and that its bad if you think of sex, you should treat everyone like your sister, don't look at women/men, get married, etc etc. But I've hardly read a response which gives the person insight into what their mind is doing, hardly an answer they can use to understand what sex is, rather the response lead or suppression and guilt. We seriously need to gather ourselves and look from the outside on this topic. e
  8. ^ in addition to the suggestion above, you can also try to locate sangat that happen at peoples homes. Sometimes a neutral location like someone home can produce for much better environment than a Gurudwara can.
  9. I don't believe the hand Mudras have any relationship to inducing the 3 Gunaas. They may deflect them, but certainly not induce them. here is a link which defines some of them: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/mudras/mudra.php and as for them working...yes they do work and do create an influence on your mind...whether it is a placebo effect or an actual influence you can certainly question, but the effect in my experience have been real. are they necessary, in reality what is necessary is your hunger to seek the Truth. If this hunger or thirst has enough craving then it becomes the greatest Mudra for your mind.
  10. the tone of the documentary was so biased it wasn't funny, I couldn't help but cringe at the english woman who was commenting...she had no idea what she was talking about. What the East has inherited from its spiritual grounding, the west can only dream about.
  11. The fuss is about the 'anek hai'. They agree that 'ek hai'. Ask anyone and they will say God is one...but it is 'my' God that is that one, not yours or theirs. It is My One God and My One Path to that MY ONE GOD is the only way and this MY ONE GOD is the sole manifestation proof (in written text) of his existence and I (Religion) with MY ONE GOD has the sole knowledge of how to reach him. People don't see the multitude of his reflections in different fashion, form and expression. Limited views, limited minds can only see the narrow paths to the one who is found in the fields of limitless mind. We seek the one with the mind who cannot be found with the mind. We seek words, justification to support our position, our egos, our biased viewpoints when the one who we seek does not speak in the language of the mind. This noise of the mind is just an excuse so you can feel the need to be silent. So you can understand the necessity of going silent. The noise is there so you can crave the need to be noiseless, to be free of thoughts, to be free of labels, to be free of our false identity. The Noise is there to make you aware of that which you are missing, just as Pain is there so you can appreciate the experience the pleasure. What do we do, we feed the noise with more noise and think that somehow we have reached clarity of noise. If thought is Noise, then even the thought of God is NOISE. i probably went offtopic, but just thought i'd add some more noise.
  12. I would avoid trying to relate it to sikhi in the context of an 'ism'. You won't find this relationship on the outer level, rather this relationship will form when you've gone beyond the mind's attachment to labels, its filters and biased viewpoints. The quote you posted is not trying to belittle AOM, rather the Guru is trying to bring them out of the Sargun (maya) aspect of the AOM and trying to transcend them to the Nirgun state of AOM. Which should have happened, but did not. Somewhere something went wrong, the Guru is trying to point the Sidhaas towards that. AUM is just as sacred as Waheguru and vice versa. The sacredness of a Mantra lie in the Bhaavna of the Sadhak reciting it. A Nihung went to eat at a Dhaaba, upon leaving he went to paid the owner and accidentally dropped his rupee into the Tandoor. The Nihung waited until the tandoor cooled and went inside to find his rupee. when he entered the tandoor he goes, "oh Allah" as it was still a bit hot. The owner puzzled asked the Nihung are you not a Sikh? If so then why did you say Allah. The Nihung says, why would I bother my Waheguru for such a small task.
  13. It is very interesting to note that Constantine was a Pagan worshiper before he converted to Christianity. He was a Suria Upasik (Sun Worshiper) and the date for his worship 'coincidently' fell on the 25 of the December and so it was deemed by the priest to please the emperor that it will also be the birth date of Christ. http://www.aloha.net/~mikesch/xmas.htm "A star cult, sun-worship, became (in the third century A.D.) the dominant official creed, paving the road for the ultimate triumph of Judaeo-Christian monotheism. So strong was the belief in the Invincible Sun (Sol Invictus) that for example Constantine I (d. 337), himself at first a devotee of the sun cult, found it, indeed perfectly compatible with his pro-Christian sympathies to authorize his own portrayal as Helios. And in 354 the ascendant Christian church in the reign of his pious but unsavory son, Constantius II, found it prudent to change the celebration of the birth of Jesus from the traditional date (January 6) to December 25, in order to combat the pagan Sun god’s popularity—his “birthday” being December 25."
  14. "Om" is not associated only with the Hindu religion, but symbolizes the Omnipresent, Omnipotent Divinity. The mesmerizing syllable 'Om' is not a product of man's imagination, it is ever present, all pervading and can be felt within a seeker whose mind is tranquil and free from all disturbance. the link below will answer all your questions. http://om.exoticindiaart.com/
  15. Stopped watching it after the first 10 minutes of them playing 6 degrees of Jesus Christ.
  16. inquiry: #1 - #2 - #3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyaYQuZ1EdE&NR=1 #4 - Mooji is a disciple of Sri Poonja Ribhu Krishna who was a disciple of Sri Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi ji.
  17. interesting thing is any type of meditation one does has a link one way or another back to Pantanjali.
  18. In Yog mat, there is a method of Kapalbhati Pranayam which instructs one to forcefully exhale his/her breath. This is perhaps a modification of that technique with a Mantra.
