  1. Thank you very much for that. Listening to the Katha on Japji Sahib by Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee Bhindranwalay and Giani Takhur Singh Jee, they mention the different types of avtars and what their qualities and limitations are.
  2. I agree with Dal Singh. Making unsubstantiated claims when trying to link two different religions is really going to cause more damage then good. A man like Bahadur who has a Phd in religious study and is very knowledgeable on comparative religions tried his best in trying to show a link between Gurmat and Islam, even to the point where he started to falsify his evidence just to show a link. But knowledgeable Singhs here completely dissolved his false theories. Sikhi is the teesr Panth. It is distinct from Islam and Hinduism. Either you beleive in the house of Guru Nanak or you beleive in the house of Mohammad. You cannot put your feet in two different boats and stay afloat. Eventually you will end up falling. A study of other religions should only be undertaken once you have a deep and profound understanding of your own Deen Dharm which is Gurmat. I would suggest sarbat to download as much katha from Gurmatveechar site into his ipod or mp3 player and spend atleast an hour a day just listening to the deep arths of Gurbani done by our scholars. May I suggest you please listen to Japji Sahib Katha done by Giani Takhur Singh Jee, it is very similar to the katha done by Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee Bhindranwalay. For really deep spiritually stuff I would suggest you listen to the Katha of Sant Jagjit Singh Ji Harkhowalwalay.
  3. Amardeep Jee, can you post the link for that.
  4. How is that something in common? These are two completely different things. It's like saying, the followers of Rumi have a nose, and we also have a nose, look how much in common we have. Bhai, you should be thankful that you have this Manukha Janam after many lifetimes. What is more, we have been blessed with Sikhi which is a rare occurrence amongst humans since not even 1% of humans are blessed with Sikhi. Study about Gurmat, listen to Katha, read Gurbani, do Simran to make this Manukha Janam Safal instead of reading about Rumis or Naazims. That will not get you anywhere, but doing simran will, listening to Katha will, reading Gurbani will.
  5. This shows we should never shake the hands of a religious Muslim.
  6. Guru Nanak Dev Jee was Jagatguru. Rumi was a great Saint, but how does that make him a reincarnation of Guru Nanak Dev Jee? As the saying goes "all great men think alike" but that does not mean that just because they think alike they must be reincarnates of each other. If Guru Nanak Dev Jee was his reincarnate then surely it would have been mentioned in our canonical scriptures or even our historical granths on the lives of the Gurus. Since he was a great Saint, maybe he was reincarnated as one of the Bhagats or even as a Gursikh because I believe that after doing great Karma or Bhagti that we get a chance to be born to become Sikhs. The fact that we have been blessed with Sikhi while in human form is something extraordinary since Sikhs make up not even 1% of the human population. So Sikhi itself is a very rare thing to happen to a human. So those who are Sikhs need and should to feel blessed to be one of the few humans who are Sikhs. We need to make sure we take full advantage of our Janam in human form, and blessed with Gursikhi we should do enough Bhagti in this lifetime that we do not even need to be born again. BHAYEE PRAAPAT MANUKH DEHURIA GOBIND MILAN KI EH TERI BARIA Amritvela needs to be kept by all Sikhs and atleast 1 hour of Nam Simran along with a minimum of our Nitnemi Banis should be done everyday. Life is unpredictable, you never know when death can happen. Live everyday like it is the last day. So every day should be spent on as much Naam Simran and Bani recitation as you can do. Don't let your human form (MANUKH DEHURIA) go to waste.
  7. My vote is going to NDP. Before Ignatief I was a Liberal party supporter. But since that coward refused to acknowledge the Sikh holocaust of 1984 I will make it a point to vote NDP. As you mentioned, NDP are pro immigrants, they are also against the dumb decision to buy all those fighter jets. Why does Canada need those new fighter jets when Canada should spend that money on the economy and job market. Even though NDP will not win majority but no other party will either. So we should support NDP. Ruby Dhalla is not worth voting for. She hasn't done anything for the Sikh community. Bains is still good. He speaks up for the Kirpan. Sukh Dhaliwal also deserves to win. Ujjal Dosanjh is the most worthless MP coming from our community. If he is an atheist or whatever he should atleast be fair. If on one hand he is pointing out the acts of violence committed by members of the Sikh community, should he not also point out the acts of violence committed by India? This traitorous man is a big time hypocrite, and more than anyone else he deserves to lose.
  8. What is so bad about what he said? everyone has feelings in favour of their own country, religion over others. For example it is not uncommon for Sikhs to say that Sikhs have the biggest hearts or that Punjabis have the biggest hearts in India, doesn't mean we hate Hindus or Muslims. Everyone has some level of patriotism for their own. As for his comments about Indian media, I'm sorry to say but Indian media is not worth defending. Of course Pakistani media is also just as Jhootaa/Makkaar as Indian media is. But Indian media takes sleeziness to a whole new level. Afridi is a good man, one of the few people from pakistani society who is internationally respected.
  9. Thing I don't understand is, in 1947 India had royal dynasties in the form of the princely states of India. The leaders of India during the so called independence in 1947 decided to dissolve these dynastic princely states because they were deemed as undemocratic in a new India. But then Indian politicians just replaced these old world dynasties with their own dynasties where their own (often corrupt) sons and daughters take over when the father dies. Today most of the MPs, MLAs, CMs, PMs, ministers will eventually be succeeded by their own children. If this was the way it was going to happen, then what was the point in dissolving the princely states?
  10. True. The growth of Haryana has nothing to do with Haryana or it's governing policies. They just have the good fortune of being located right next door to Delhi because of which many multi national companies have located there. Even the people of Delhi and the rest of North India are now moving to Gurgaon since it is right next door to Delhi. The housing is cheaper and better then Delhi itself. But that has made Jaats who owned land in and around Gurgaon stinking rich! Just one acre is worth crores of rupees. So Jaats who could not even afford cars a decade ago are now crore-patees This is very positive growth. It made me very happy to see the ratio improve by so much. 48 point improvement is a huge mark which only gives me hope that Punjab will be able to reach the 900 mark by the next census.
  11. Looks like India's population will overtake China by the next census in 2021. Although, if the Indian subcontinent were one (India/Pakistan/Bangladesh/SriLanka) it is already larger than China in terms of it's population. The population gap between Punjab and Haryana is narrowing. By the next census both states should have about the same population. The good thing is that Punjab's girl to boy ratio has improved but it is still so low that we cannot feel but shame. Hopefully Punjab can reach 900 girls to 1000 boys by 2021.
  12. Great Seva Veerjee Is there difference between the Hazoor Sahib bir to the regular Sri Dasam Granth? Also, can you list Kathas on Gurmat Veechar that are done by Nirmalas.
  13. Saw this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KakZkh9Iu7U
  14. Compared to the average Sikh, the Nadharis/Kukas are very strict and Pakkay in their principals. Have you seen their weddings? no matter how rich a Namdhari is, they have the simplest weddings. Both the bride and groom wear simple white cloths, no dhaaj, len dhen. Since they are much more strict than the average Sikh, they also do not do female infanticide. We may not agree with them on the Dehdhari Guru part, but they deserve credit where it is due.
  15. Baba Mohan Singh Bhindranwalay's Katha are just too good. Currently I'm listening to Japji Sahib Katha of Baba Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwalay, the first two were not easy to understand because of background noise, but it gets clearer after the part 3. I listened to Sant Jagjit Singh Harkhowalwalay's katha on Adhyatam Prakash, it was amazing because as I was listening to him I opened up a copy of Adhyatam Prakash Teeka done by Mahant Ganesha Singh Jee side by side while listening to Sant Jagjit Singh Jee. So it is almost feels like I'm learning Adhyatam Prakash from Sant Jagjit Singh Jee. But for some reason most of the second part was blank.
  16. Dhaaj and Len Dhen and the expenses during wedding are the main reasons for abortion. Just the wedding expenses amount to lakhs or rupees, then Dhaaj and the len dhen(where the girl's family start to give golden jewelry and suits to boy's family members) is another great expense. Kukaas/Namdharis have simple weddings and don't take Dhaaj which is why the problem of female abortion is not a problem amongst them. Sikhs need to go back to the basics and have simple weddings. The more they indulge in cultural traits which are against Gurmat the more they will suffer. Culture is good, but where ever culture starts to contradict Gurmat principals that aspect of ones culture should not be followed. It is a real shame and Laanat on any Amritdhari who takes Dhaaj and Lain Dhen during his wedding. If we Amritdharis cannot live by example then who will?
  17. I don't think Rehras is suppose to be read after sunset. The way I was told was that Rehras should be read before you eat your dinner which is usually always after 6 pm. But the timing of Pehras is the more accurate way to determine when to do Nitnemi Banis.
  18. Yeah I heard that too. I think it's the guy bringing him in first and says don't take his turban off, but the other guy seems to think other wise. Just look at all sipahis who were standing their, they were all mostly Sikhs with Paghs and they just stood there. That is how low we have gotten that a Sikh's Pagh is being taken off so disrespectfully and we just stand there watching it happen. My uncle (Mama Jee) tells me that once he was going to Ludhiana in 1985. He saw two Hindus beating up a weak looking Sikh. When they disrespectfully touched his Dastar, just then two Sikh Naujawans(young men) who were also witnessing this ran towards those two Hindu men and beat them up severely. Sikhs back then it seems were much more Ankhi.
  19. A muslim friend once told me that eating brain can make you smarter. Don't know how true that is though.
  20. Is it true that back in India these Sikhs (followers of Baba Tarmala Jee) have a university called Brahmgiani university and they say it can turn you into a Brahmgiani? this is what someone told me. Can someone confirm this if it true or not.
  21. What I can't believe is Punjab is behind Himachal which is much less developed than Punjab. What is even more unbelievable is that Punjab is ahead of Gujarat!
  22. What an amazing song that was. It really touches the soul.
  23. In the past few times the leopards have been killed in India, they were killed because they strayed out of their dwindling habitat in search of water but sadly they met a very brutal end at the hands of the most dangerous animal of them all...Man
  24. That was crazy! check out this video of the tiger hugging this Indian guy:
  25. Lets not put the lion down. It is the most beautiful animal alive (in my opinion). Both lion and tiger are cats that need to be preserved in the wild. The tiger is in danger of being wiped out in the wild because of chinese demand for tiger parts which they use in their traditional medicine. It will be one of the biggest tragedies if the tiger population decreases anymore than it already is. India is currently home to the last of the wild asiatic lions in the small reserve in Gujarat in Gir forest. The Indian leopard is also another great big cat that needs protection. In the last few years there have been many cases of leopards being killed (often beaten to death) by villagers. Check out this disturbing video of Haryanvis beating to death this leopard while the police do nothing to stop them:
