  1. I personally think that is a very cynical way of looking at it myself. I think some intelligent people intuitively feel interconnectiveness with creation and seek a bond with their creator. Also, cultures help can help stabilise their existence with a framework.
  2. I think your points are valid, but as we can see with this example, the Uk sangat does seem to have some sway in some Gurdwaras. In this case, and to the Nanaksar Gurdwara's credit, they very quickly rectified their mistake, and were apologetic for it too. We know there will be/have been other Gurdwara management that have unscrupulously valued their income over anything else and tried to adopt belligerent attitudes towards the sangat objecting, usually crawling up mainstream gora's bhunds as victims of 'extremism' <cough, cough> As for how to proceed with proving the issue of commitment, your idea is as good as any I can think of off my head. We need to come up with something together. And let us recall our ithihaasic precedents: we know when sullay were converting in the 1700s onwards, Singhs took all manner of steps to ensure the conversion was genuine, from feeding them pork for x amount of days, to putting boar's blood in the Amrit, to temporarily burying them to cast off their previous auras into the ground. So this is inline with our culture.
  3. This one is dodgy, I think more than that is needed. Words are easy.
  4. Not really. Afghan Sikhs are included, so it is beyond 'race'. Plus anyone who actually truly believes Panjabis are some homogenous genetic group is a moron of the highest proportion. This is obviously the case. I mean one particular skirt wearing, head waggling jaat has been causing havoc in this respect for ages, but I can only think with cards in the air right now, we can't tell where we will be going in future until the cards settle down somewhat.
  5. Some of our lot are living in lala land........... This is an embarrassment.
  6. Picked this up. I previously made a thread about Omissi's other book which was made up of translated extracts from ww1 soldier's letters. This book looks a lot more dense than that one.
  7. I know this is the site to ask this question: What is the difference (if anyway) between the Karamsar and Nanaksar sampardayas? Also, are they both linked to the Bhai Daya Singh sampardaya, and how do they differ in this respect if they do? Hope someone can illuminate me.
  8. Good to see some mainstream media is finally grasping that SP is a community organisation and not some 'gang' of hoodlums. Great work by the B'ham sangat in supporting this family.
  9. Mad isn't it. The OP references some jutt website, when Udham Singh doesn't appear to be a jut.
  10. This country might as well send a personal message to all degenerates to do whatever they like and give them a pat on their back whilst they are at it too.......
  11. Wow! The kind of beating your parents would give you back in the day......lol
  12. I notice this is standard procedure for goray. I think they do it to try and give off some impression that the case is impartial. These 'representatives' they use are usually pre-tested sell outs.
  13. What I understand is that kesh is the external representation of a Sikhs internal belief. If this is right, what is the power of kesh without the belief/sharda? A lot of us from Panjabi backgrounds will probably know people/have friends or even relatives that were compelled to keep kesh by parents, who grew up to not really believe. - what does that teach us? Open question to all.
  14. @singh77777 There's a lot of relevant stuff about being shasterdhari in this video you might find interesting.
  15. I'm not amritdhari or keshdhari even, so I don't wear a shaster like that. But guys I know hide it under their jumpers/jackets etc. in a gatra. I know it's harder to do in summer when you're probably wearing a T-shirt, that's when a smaller functional one is useful. A slightly looser T-shirt would probably help!
