  1. i agree with the above singh (however harsh it was) i see alot of talk by nihangs (whom i respected prior to reading posts on here) and im insulted and saddened by their lack of compassion. i hurd someone state something along the lines of 'if u wish to remain ignorant so be it'. isnt this superiority/ideal of thinking u are much higher/more learned than another an anti sikhi way of thinking? such comments remind me of the brahmins guru ji mocked. truth isnt exclusive to nihangs. iam what u would call 'mainstream' sikh-but to be honest, this is the most logical (taking into account bani) which corresponds with gurus teachings. i respect tradition being kept, however there are modern drugs such as paracetomol- or aspirin- or even morphine, which have the same affect as cannibis (preparation time is alot less however) why dont nihangs replace bhang with this?? it seems like they enjoy the buzz or something. corresponding to what singh said,it seems like they only do these things to 'act' hard/tough. i notice alot of people do this, generally in society,to appear tough/strong similar to people who smoke to look kool etc. i say this, because numerous people have told me,that nihangs in india have so much pride/ego. they walk with such attitude/look down on others/gloat and take pride in the fact that they eat meat/take bhang. no offence, but this isnt what hard means to me. hard is when u take on sawa lakh with only the intoxication of naam. i see u guys dont appreciate the fact that we dont read more into sarb loh or dasam granth ji,however are u guys forgetting the 1400 odd pages of bani?? doesnt guru ji teach us love? compassion? we all have truths..we all follow gurus rehit to how we feel suited..please dont look down on other people..something which relates to u doesnt necessarily apply to someone else. p.s u use bhang living in the uk?? im curious?? because i can understand people using it in the context of jungle warfare (because i wouldnt be able to handle pain either) but in the uk?? please..that cant be right!!
  2. ur post made sense, but i cant see how this relates to my reference to hindu dieties. i, in no way implied that hindu dieties came down to many gods and idol worship. what u have to remember,is hinduism and hindus are a loose term. did u know it was the muslims who came up with this term?? hinduism is an umbrella of beleifs and ideals (most of which contradict and clash with one another) its a term used to describe people from the indus valley. hence its wrong to say hinduism is x or y. because different groups of hindus beleive in different things. whilst some beleive in one god (which moves into the snaatam dharma) there are others who have multiple gods. As for idol worship,i think u'll find 99% of hindus do. this, along with the scaredness of the cow,is one of only few points hindus have a shared consesus with.
  3. dating is a no no. women should be seen as mothers sisters or daughters. and fathers brothers and sons for women. simple as. however,if u love on another, and care for one another, and u love eachother in ever single way (mentally, spritiually, physically, etc etc) then i think its fine. as long as a commitment is made i.e ur parents are told.
  4. I totally agree with sukhbir. 100%. I have read and observed this website with great detail, and after reading up from various sources,it seems these nihangs are the product of indian patriotism. they seem to look down on the 'mainstream' khalsa yet they are the epitome of naivity and unecessary pride (in regards to being proud of their land i.e india.) sikhi is about love, not questioning or insulting other peoples beleifs; with the derogatory comments made about the panth (as a whole) i feel nihangs lose their credibility- and this website reminded me of of a bully, trying to make a point. if we are to be called mugs of the british raj, then i would refer to nihangs as mugs of the india! i mean, many nihangs have so much pride in india, yet what has india ever done for them?? Dont get me wrong,i respect nihangs. they are great sikhs, and i certainly dnt exclude them from the panth. however,i do question their beleifs and practises, and from an unbiased view (because iam neither khalsa nor nihang khalsa) i would say its the nihangs who have twisted the message of guru ji; intoxications, ritual killing of animals, beleif in hindu dieties, patriotic thinking, pride (which ive hurd many nihangs posses; borderlines with ego),judging others (as this website illustrates) giving goats a special order (similar to cows in hinduism) etc etc. iam not insulting the nihangs-please dont think this. iam merely showing them that we all have obstacles. we all have bad things i.e bad points which would exclude us from the panth,or break our rehit. but no ones perfect. we are ALL sikhs. we are learning. of course we will make mistakes. my point is,live and let live. and if someone is happy with their life,so be it. its wrong and unjust to say one lifestyle is the 'right way' and to dismiss all other peoples beleifs. i for one, would not be happy with the nihang lifestyle, because for me,it isnt my way of thinking. it doesnt mean im a bigot. or im narrow minded. or im blind to see the truth, etc etc. it means the mainstream khalsa appeals to me,and makes more sense in the context to the bani the gurus wrote. all TEN gurus. and harps is right-we need to fight the crap within, then no one would touch us!! its because of our weaknesses that people expoit the panth and create divisions.
  5. excellent post veer! the point follows from steel bangle singh; we need less gurudwarai hence more sangat!
  6. yup thats what i meant! these main gurudwarai would be packed all the time!! p.s its me london singh! hehe
  7. singh,do u think guru ji meant khalsa i.e amrit dharis?? or khalsa as in relegious people?? i think it would be the former wouldnt it?? because khalsa in the context of guru ji implies that they would all be amrit dharis or sehaj dharis, etc.
  8. definitely! its the greed for material posessions. so many times i see 'sants' cruising around in the latest mercedes, etc. and its kindof contradicting because ud think the sant would rather that money be spent on something worthwhile. material possesions=money, and these days most the commitee members scam money and use donations to pay for their luxury lives. of course this is generally, there are alot of genuine sants/gianis,etc..it just seems people are having to enrich the gurudwarai, etc to cover up the real richness (maybe the former are easier to acheive!) anyhoo,i think we need less gurudwara, and more sangat! (or more money being used for needy causes i.e helping orphans from the dehli riots, etc etc) theres lives which could have been saved from that 17 million. (and thats just one gurudwara, and theres tonnes around the uk alone! and they arent cheap!)
  9. i was being sarcastic!! jeeesh lighten up!! and the capitals is a thing i like doing so no one misses my post p.s slang= boy. nothing wrong with the word. in the uk its not an offensive term.
  10. i want the page number dammit. and watch ur mouth singh. theres no need to act hard on the net.
  11. so its fair to say we are part of that group of hindus? (i wont say hindus because this term,as mentioned, isnt really representative of all the different beleifs) was satyug only evident in india? how come this line of truth doesnt exist anywhere else? was the koran and jesus/moses,etc etc all truth?? i agree we should respect all faiths, but since a hindu cannot be defined, then its untrue to say were are hindus in root. p.s where is that quote from?? (we are lotus, etc)
  12. From what i gather, nihangs model themslelves upon hindu warriors, and accept all teachings within dasam granth (although some argue much of dasam granth has been tampered with by hindu extremists) Are the nihangs then accepting, they are hindus in roots? Since they look down upon the mainstream khalsa i.e us 'mainstream sikh' and call us sheep, etc (and that they are the gurus army) doesnt this conclude we are breaking from guru jis message? Doesnt this also conclude that we are wrong is seeing sikhi as a seperate entity, and that guru ji was infact, only remodelling hinduism, and perfecting what was in existence many years prior to the khalsa? Sangats views please. WJKK WJKF
  13. exactly! my brotha made it all clear! u do something, and pay the price! and this goes with everything we do..it all has an effect on our karma. in terms of drinking and smoking being condemned,i can actually say there is bani which hints that smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited (after all the rehit maryada the tenth master ordained makes it clear; all intoxicants should be avoided) however i think clubbing is taboo..since we face lust, anger, ego, attachment, etc in everyday life! so to isolate clubs and say they are the only places with all these qualities is wrong! just remember,we live in kalyug, and everything dark is all around us! theres no escaping it! if it affects u,then dnt go..if it doesnt, they by all means go! (for the right reason) guru ji knows our intent when we do things!
  14. contrary to popular beleive (well amongst the panth) i beleive clubbing is wrong and only wrong,if u know the environment is going to affect u i.e make ur five vices battle ur senses/ur mind. if u can keep these under control, however, then i think its acceptable. after all,we face attachment, lust, anger, greed, pride, etc in the most subtle form i.e television. yet we all watch out. if u can do something without it affecting u,then by all means do it. but guru is everywhere,so to say clubbing is wrong because of the people-is anti sikhi in itself- all those clubbers all have guru ji in them too. besides,we all have differenct reasons in going clubbing. just remember-one day, when we are in the working world, clubbing or other social activities will become a norm. will we be too big headed to go to these places?? i think we should adapt to the times,to a degree. and before i get flammed,im saying WITH exception. i dont mean lets change the message of the khalsa. im saying,u have to be practical. i guess its no different to bindrawale and his statement that all sikhs should have a gun and motorbike. this isnt polluting gurus message or replacing the panj kakkar, its merely moving with the times. what use is a horse, when ur enemies will retreat in their sports cars?? similarly, what use is being educated all ur life,so u can make money and help the panth/less fortunate, when u throw it all in the sack, because u refuse to enter an environment ur too good for. i think common sense lies with sikhi. on the other hand,it shouldnt be made a habit. i think once in a blue moon is fine. but too regular i.e more than five/six times a year,is too much..and is more of a habit wjkk wjkf
