  1. take a look at the post colonial divisions in Africa. it's interesting that many states have a very large ethnic minority in it along with a majority. If state lines had been set up differently this would not have happened. it's almost like the divisions were set up a certain way to prevent Africa from getting it's act together.
  2. most of the experts were dead wrong in most of their financial predictions... it seems among the few who actually know what they are talking about there is gerald celente and this guy - http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Aftershock-book-predicts-economic/2011/07/25/id/404782?utm_source=outbrain&utm_title=?Aftershock?-Book-Predicts-Economic-Disa/. better to invest in gold, silver, skills and knowledge, good health, and bani imo.
  3. messed up... wonder how many of the voters will be chelay of cults trying to sway the elections towards anti-sikh candidates? a high court had previously ruled that unshorn hair is a fundamental tenet of sikhism.
  4. All the Gurus were yogis, but the definition of a true yogi is one who is one with God. You can find it in Guru Granth Sahib ji. They didn't need to do kundalini yoga to reach their state. kundalini yoga seems to be a lower spiritual tool than shabad Guru. A lot of what Yogi ji taught seemed to be Sikhi with some kundalini yoga spice thrown in, not proper Sikhi.
  5. To read lareevar saroops required an intensive amount of training. Today, with only minimal training, a person can pretend to properly read padd ched saroop. This allows for an easy supply of (nishardic) "granthis" to supply the many new gurdwaras. personally, i think the jathedar should just call for a sarbat khalsa, hammer out the powers, responsibilities, and limitations of the jathedar position, and have the panth select a jathedar. Whether him or another, it would break the sgpc's and Badal's hold and reinvigorate the image of the Akaal Takht.
  6. yep, been done on sikhsangat. maybe here too.
  7. very inspiring to see sikhs getting together to defend their neighbourhoods!!
  8. knockoff diamonds only exist b/c of the value of real diamonds. as for needing them, absolutely, yes we do. the less the panth heeds sants, the more it falls into disarray. the whole path of sikhi involves a normal person with good karms taking amrit, then progressing on this path, eventually becoming a sant and merging into god. sikhi is a garden, we all are unripe seeds or sprouts at some stage or other, the sant is the fruit of this garden. so whether we think we need them or not, there will always be new sants emerging b/c there will always be people seriously walking this path.
  9. it's guru ji himself who set up the importance of sants, as written in bani. they can do greater prachaar b/c they have greater energy to attract other souls. and when discussing deep dharmic things can speak from experience rather than just from reading. i don't think there have been many worthwhile kathakars who didn't learn from sants. i've heard maskeen ji learned from an udasi dera, and bhai pinderpal singh learned from javaddi kalan taksal. we can differentiate b/c sants join people to guru ji, while frauds join people to themselves.
  10. in general, it's the panthic deras that do the most prachaar, the sants are the pillars of sikhi
  11. 'basically, their beliefs about naam dhrir are only held by akj. no one else in the panth believes that this kind of thing is required.' This is totally false. Before even AKJ was organised as a jatha, bhai Randhir Singh was japping naam with bau Mal Singh and they used swaas swaas technique. Amrit Sanchaars before AKJ used to impart swaas swaas technique. Swas swas simran technique is not naam dhrir. naam dhrir is the method of imparting gurmantr used by the punj of the akj. the method is unique to the akj, none other in the panth believe in it. swas swas simran technique, however, is everywhere. sikhs throughout the panth of any group or none use it.
  12. http://www.sikhawareness.com/index.php/topic/10652-naam-dhridh/page__p__91569__hl__+naam++dhrir__fromsearch__1#entry91569 this thread may answer your questions. basically, their beliefs about naam dhrir are only held by akj. no one else in the panth believes that this kind of thing is required.
  13. i would look up dr. schulze's teachings. probably massage and contrast showers will help with blood flow - 7 sec extremely hot water + 7 sec extremely cold times 7 cycles of both. also, eat less, drink more fresh veggie juices. dr. schulze has some recipes for different ailments. a lot of his stuff can be found on curezone.com, although there's a ton of dross to shift through. http://earthclinic.com/ also has lots of home remedies.
  14. coconutism and bananaism is rampant throughout asia. in japan the most popular surgery for females is to surgically alter the eyelid to make their eyes appear wider, like the eyes of white people.
  15. July 27, 2011 by TNN Source: timesofindia.indiatimes.com Jul 27, 2011, NEW DELHI: Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik's ringing endorsement of Hindutva and Hindu nationalists has left saffron leaders embarrassed. Breiviks (58K) Breivik posing in a compression garment in a photo released six hours before the attacks. The insignia on his left shoulder reads: "Marxist Hunter - Norway - Multiculti Traitor Hunting Permit" Ram Madhav of RSS called it "motivated propaganda", while VHP's Vinod Bansal insisted that his manifesto, in which he has praised Hindu nationalists, "made no sense". However, BJP MP B P Singhal was quoted as saying that the killer's ideas were not wrong but his methods were. In his over 1,500-page manifesto titled "2083: A European Declaration of Independence", Breivik talks of Hindutva elements as allies and urges them to fight shoulder to shoulder with his knights. His mission: To stem the spread of Islam in Europe. That India occupies a large part of his perverse mindspace is clear from the 100 pages he dedicates to the country. He comes out in support of "sanatana dharma movements and Indian nationalists in general". He provides the BJP, RSS and ABVP websites as references for more information. The Indian government, he claims, should have insisted on a name change of the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan, because they were named after the Hindus who "were massacred" there. Modern India, he says, "white washed this Hindu genocide", which he likens to "Auschwitz". Breivik quotes an NCERT directive of 1982 (which actually shows India embracing its multicultural identity) to say he is outraged that it stipulates, "characterization of the medieval period as a time of conflict between Hindus and Moslems is forbidden". Reacting to Breivik's rant, Ram Madhav, senior RSS leader, said: " His entire so-called manifesto quotes conservative writers from both sides of the Atlantic. Ideological similarities have been drawn from all over, so to say suddenly that it is linked to Indian nationalists or Hindutva is simply motivated propaganda." The VHP's Vinod Bansal said: "Most of what he has to say makes no sense, except the bit about appeasing Muslims is right. Basically, the UPA government under Sonia Gandhi has been indulging in it and also framing policies in such a way that the whole country is converted to Christianity." Hindus, Breivik says, have been victims of the greatest historical "genocide" by waves of Islamic jihad. He quotes right-wing historian KS Lal to argue his point. The most important part of this document is his cherry-picking of history and religion to come to some terribly distorted conclusions. Breivik claims he wrote several emails and also used Facebook to reach out to people in India. It is possible that he sent his manifesto to the addresses he farmed ahead of the massacre. There are several themes running through Breivik's tortured manifesto. On the one hand, he attacks Islam and the "appeasement" of Muslims by everybody from western countries to countries like India. But on the other, he has a special place for what he calls the Marxist intellectuals, who, he says, dominate western thought and stifle free societies. --- Doesn't surprise me one bit that he finds Hindutva inspiring. Hindutva itself takes Nazism as a major inspiration, with founding ideologues very openly praising Hitler's policies and methods.
  16. the word god invokes a different concept in different peoples' minds, everyone has a different idea of what god is. those who *know* god can only explain god to those who do not know by using the idea of god, the concept of god. the knowing of god exists at birth, but the intellectual concept of god, as we understand it, is taught to us by the world.
  17. no more elections, no more committees. have the gurdwara run by punj pyare, all of high spiritual jeevan, amritvela, and proper moral character. most good changes never get implemented due to fear of losing votes.
  18. what is a kavach for, is it rakhya
  19. what about massaging almond oil into your scalp at night? or sarron di tayl? moisturizing the scalp might help the itching. also, exposing it to direct sunlight, through an open window, for a period of time each day could help.
  20. everything, with the exception of the "indiscriminate" plan was heroic.
