  1. Homosexuality was actually included in the DSM (official diagnostic manual of psychiatry and psychology) as a disorder but was later removed for political reasons. There was concern that politicians would use the inclusion of homosexuality within the DSM as an excuse to stigmatize gays. That being said, there is no scientific basis that it is not an illness. Over time the heavy propaganda push from the SJW types has forced society to accept it. Now, their propaganda has reached such an extreme that people cannot even publically say that they think a homosexual lifestyle is wrong without fearing for their jobs. Of course, this politician should have been savvy enough to realise that publicly stating such things in today's environment is political suicide.
  2. I've noticed that you have a bad habit of replying without bothering to fully read what other people are saying. We are not saying to restrict all guest posts across the board. If the guest identifies themselves then the guest post would be allowed. So just type “-Satkirin” or something at the end or beginning of your post and that’s all you need to do.
  3. Putin frequently rubs their imperialist noses in their own lies. He's really quite clever!
  4. It's not censorship b/c all are welcome to become members. N3O, you see my point above. People post as guests in actuality are not. I also think that threads should be made to comply with their topic a bit more strictly. Sometimes a thread organically evolves into a different discussion. But other times people just start hijacking with their own agendas or people start trolling. They should ideally be split into new topics. But forcing membership will at least stop trolls, who up to this point, have not added anything worthwhile.
  5. Veer, please end the practice of allowing guests to post in any controversial topics. I feel it invites trolls. A way around this might be to open sections of the forum for guests and close off any sections that might have controversial posts to only members. But allow all to view, similar to how Sikh Sangat has it.
  6. you seem to have pretty low self esteem b/c of your impressions of your saroop. I bet if you do more simran/bani in the morning you will feel internally stronger. i know a singh who swims in the public swimming pool. He wears a swimsuit that covers most of his body with stainless steel kirpan in kesh.
  7. even worldly poetry is not always bound by grammer rules...so why would Gurbani be?
  8. Is this a teeka of his entire Guru Granth Sahib ji katha or just a revised version of the Japji katha?
  9. Let’s not forget the fact that the Bani of Dasam Granth Sahib ji is an original source witness to the shaheedi of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, whose kurbani allowed for the continual survival of Hindu dharm. This really irks many of those with a Hindu cultural imperialist agenda. Again and again we see Indian school textbooks disounting Maharaj’s shaheedi, stating lies about it. Some texts say that he was hung for instigating riots!! Dasam Granth flies in the face of their cultural superiority agenda.
  10. chall fer Satkiran ji. We agree to disagree :) Congrats btw.
  11. A lot of arguments against your position are going hugely off the main topic of conversation, and thus don't make much sense. Bottomline is that it is Hukam, and for us in our dharm, we are supposed to accept that. Guru ji himself tells us to learn about the Guru's teachings from the sants, and that is what the sants teach. Take it or leave it.
  12. Oral tradition is valid as evidence. It is our panth’s oral tradition, coming from more than one unbroken lineage of teachers, that all of Dasam Granth Sahib ji is Gurbani. Despite the existence of numerous lineages of teachers, there is not one single contradiction to this point of view. Additionally, oral history can have great integrity. So much so, that even the supreme courts in Canada have recognized native oral traditions as providing a substantial evidentiary basis for native land claims. ie. White-owned courts have acknowledged that natives can make a claim on land controlled by whites based on oral evidence alone!! The oral history is of course in addition to the internal evidence within Dasam Bani that corresponds perfectly to the teachings in Guru Granth Sahib ji and other evidences as well. The bottom-line is that the Dasam Granth Sahib’s status as Gurbani IS and has always been the accepted belief of the Khalsa. As the interlopers, the ones who are challenging the accepted belief of the Panth, it is incumbent upon these people to present evidence of their assertions. They have made numerous posts on this forum but I have not seen any actually step forward to provide any substantial evidence for their claims. Anybody can criticize, anybody can say this or that isn’t Bani, but where is the evidence that actually goes beyond mere conjecture?!?!
  13. Most of the stuff you seem worried about isn’t going to affect your day to day life as Gursikh. And yes, you get tested.Everyone does. But I feel you are in the same mindset that a lot of people are in when they enter the dharm, focusing more on the outer stuff. All fired up about the political and social revolutionary aspects. Nothing wrong with that. But, the relative importance of the outer things to the inner spiritual life is akin to the skin of the almond to the almond itself. There are variations between Gurdwaras as well. Some places are more restrictive while others are not. Some places the sangat is very spiritual minded while other places they are not so far along in the path. You seem to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater over a few things that, for the most part, are unlikely to majorly affect your life much unless you let them. They usually do not directly affect you. Going to sangat everyday is hugely important for one’s jeevan. But the difference is I go there for my jeevan, not to critique things or look for faults. The ones who go to fight fights usually lose out, while the ones who focus on Naam gain. I’m not saying there aren’t fights worth fighting. But how will you accomplish anything if you fight every fight? btw, when I called those things bunk I meant that most of them are not legitimate Sikhi. The majority also happen to not believe in them.
  14. Big difference between people who believe in some aspects of the dharm and are moving towards the Guru vs. those who don't believe in it all.
  15. A lot of that stuff is bunk. Some of it isn't. So what? It's about you and the Guru. Same thing I tell people who get upset at Gurdwara politics. You will be tested. They learn to ignore it and focus on their own spirituality. There are people at all spiritual levels walking this path, some are naturally more ignorant than others, some feel a need to lord it over others. The gandh in the world might get you down. But these people are dealing with their own issues and karmas. Our job is to develop our relationship with Guru ji. partly, it's a matter of picking and choosing our battles.
  16. It won't work. Their propaganda is so outlandish and improbable that a simple google search and the application of the teeniest bit of logic renders it inert.
  17. You are just hungry.... go get yourself something to eat man... just kidding, i dunno
  18. You are making a giant presumption on the beliefs of those who serve in the Punj. You are also engaging in all or nothing thinking and overgeneralizing regarding the position of women just based on one or two things. No Sikh that I have ever met sees women the way that you state in your post. You are being emotional and not rational. Btw, the kirpan da amrit for women is an old belief of a small minority of Sikhs, but the rest of us believe that it is meant to be Khande Batte da Amrit for both genders.
  19. I have never been to Australia, my brother visited for a while and told me that the cost of living out there is immense. And judging from news stories, racism is a much bigger problem out there than in Canada.
  20. Propaganda. Here is the true account of what happened, as written by a HINDU MAGISTRATE: https://khojee.wordpress.com/2009/06/02/operation-bluestar-the-gallant-defender-1984-links/ Additionally, interviews with some of India's own generals show that the general thought that Sant ji was not at all "manufactured" by government. Although Sant ji was very strict, in accordance with the needs of the time, he was also known for his compassion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3w0d0CIvh4 Here is the story of his life from yet another perspective, as told by his fellow student at the taksal. Anyone can see that the jeevan he lived was that of a sant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzSt8PI40fc&ab_channel=SARABLOHK
  21. 10 Gurus in human body form, 11th in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji form, 12 in roop of the Khalsa. Point here is there there is only one Guru, but manifest in different outward forms. Also, the Khalsa is roop (form) of the Guru only, while Guru Granth Sahib ji is the Guru.
  22. Some posters have such burning anger in your replies to each other!! Instead of trying to understand each other some posters just pour gasoline on the fire! It is possible to disagree while still being civil with each other.
  23. A lot of accusations flying around. Maybe better to post facts without attaching labels to people's names like blackcat. I know its hard, but if you really want to inform sangat of what happened you will be better off if you leave the emotion out of it as much as possible.
  24. It is not uncommon for a student to study from multiple teachers at different times. Sant Sundar Singh ji did study from Sant Bishen Singh, but eventually moved elsewhere to set up his own taksal. This in no way makes their claims about lineage incorrect. For example, Sant Jagjit Singh ji Harkhowal is regarded as student of Sant Jawala Singh ji, but he also spent a lot of time studying from Tanday Wale mahapurkh. Additionally, DDT’s claims of lineage are written in granths released during the lifetime of Sant Gurbachan Singh ji.
