suleman is a spirit trapped in this world who searches for mukti. he possesses a body and then through the vessell speaks to the sangat at rara sahib in the presence of sant ishar singh ji rara sahib. the incident has been written about by sant waryam singh ji in their books and many people from the villages around rara sahib were witness to this incident. it is worth listening to!!

tsingh, i have a lot of respect for you and your views but again with rara sahib samparda as you can see on their website they have the knowledge of all of the vedant texts and are slowly preparing them in pdf files like the faridkot teeka, twarikh gur khalsa, sri gurpartap sooraj granth.

They hope to get all of the sant bhasha granths on line such as viveksar, parchi bhai addan shah, parbodh chandar natak and other vedant granths will all be on the net with viakhiya. The Samparda still learns about all granths like the other nirmalas.

They may be a new breed in the clothing not being that of the distinctive nirmalas but the training that they recieve is from many other sants for various knowledge. Take a look at Sant Baljinder Singh Ji Rara Sahib Walae, they are the ones putting all of the literature on the net, they spent years at both Sato Wale Gali and Sevapanthi Ashram along with Giani Mohan Singh Azad learning from Sant Kirpal Singh Ji, Sant Surjit Singh and Sant Makhan Singh. They have the traditional nirmala roots.

I will try to get as many of these books into PDF form and put them on the net.

I know people my thing sampardas of rara sahib is mainstream sikhi but actually has nirmala roots. For that reason i think the greatest books containing knowledge by nirmala sants are by Sant Waryam Singh Ji Ratwara Sahib Walae

'Gur Gira Raag Mala Mandal Prabodh' by Sant Tehil Singh - this is a short granth about raagmala. not my cup of tea, but I'm sure the Taksalis and AKJees will love it.

Just to let people know the above book is being scanned onto gurmatveechar and will be available as a pdf file on gurmatveechar.com

There is a lot of differences between all of the Nirmala upsampardas. some to the far left have stuck to just vedant some to the far right have stuck to nirole gubani and you get those who are inbetween. It may be worth looking at Nirmal Panth Bodh

Kam1825 got a reaction from GurjantGnostic in Gurbilas Patshahi Chhevin
The Gurbilas Patshahi Chevin usually has three different authors attributed to it. The first is Bhai Mani Singh Ji who is believed to have uttered the works when requested. Bhagat Singh was a student of Bhai Mani Singh Ji who is believed to have re-uttered the work and lastly Sohan Singh is believed to have written the account into the form we have today.

The Gurbilas has been available to purchase from the Patiala University fince the 90's. Jathedar Joginder Singh Vadenti has the book republished in 2002 with forewards from Giani Sant Singh Maskeen and Giani Balwant Singh Ji Kothaguru Wale. However once that came out Kala Afgana wrote his version of Gurbilas Patshahi 6 finding the book full of Brahmanism and because of this Vadentis version was removed.

There are some interesting passages in the granth. The maryada of akhand paaths and Raagmala is found in this granth along with the importance of wearing a keski.

For the meanings of Rahao i suggest listening to the katha by Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji on the shabad in the guru granth sahib ji that has the first rahao. You can hear them there.

The Waheguru Mantarath Granth actually has 500 meanings for the waheguru shabad. some of them are very lengthy. Hopefully it will be translated in the near future.

You mean the Waheguru Mantarath by Pandit Isher Singh Ji Kashi Wale. It is written in sanskrit and is not in print at all. I only know of one individual with a copy and hopefully it will be translated at some point.

Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji give 24 meanings for Rahao!

Neo the Pooran TAm avtar stated in the Sato Gali Teekas means higher then a complete manifestation. If you read further in that and the taksal steek it states that Guru Nanak Dev ji were not the manifestation of God by the Lord manifest to save the earth fromt he sins in Kaljug

Kam1825 got a reaction from Arsh1469 in Gur mantar and Mool Mantar
mool mantar was the mantar given by god and guru nanak dev ji which was given to the world to expalin what God was in the ideology of Sikhism. theis was recited in heaven when guru nanak dev ji were in communion with god for the three days they spent under the river beas.

gur mantar is given by the guru to his follower and by the grace of the guru and your concentration on the mantar one find the lord who is always withing one and becomes enlightened

beej mantar in sikhi is ik onkar. this is the primal seed invoked in every sikh that there is only one god.

Maha mantar is the part of the mool mantar that is given by god to guru nanak dev ji while they were in communion. it is from Ik Onkar to Gurparsad. some people think this is the mool mantar but actually it not and is referred to as the maha mantar ( the great incantation)

Mala mantar is the japji sahib

To find out more about these mantars then read the japji sahib steeks by sodhi teja singh ji, sant giani gurbachan singh ji bhindrawalae and sant giani kirpal singh ji sato gali walae

Kam1825 got a reaction from dalsingh101 in Has anyone read Saruktavali?
Yes i have read the Sarkutavali, very good text, part of the early learning in taksal and the nirmala sampardas.

    Covers topics such as:
    Adhiyai 01 : Dharam
    Adhiyai 02 : Guru
Adhiyai 03 : Avidiya, Upma, Seva
    Adhiyai 04 : Gyan
    Adhiyai 05 : Vichar
    Adhiyai 06 : 8 abstances
Adhiyai 07 : Mantar and Sargun

etc it goes on for 15 adhiyai and is worth reading over again and again.

The steek by Bhai Bhagwaan Singh is really poor so i think you have been misinformed. I suggest the teeka by Sachkhand vasi Sant (Mahant) Surjit Singh Ji Sevapanthi which is called the 'Sidhant Bhandar'. You can pick it up for 100 rupees

Sarkutavali Katha has been recorded by Giani Hardeep Singh Ji Hazoor Sahib Walae but i have to get it sent over from Hazoor Sahib due to the number of tapes along with their handwritten teeka. Will post it up when i get it

Sri Narayan Hari Updesh is awesome, lots of Vedantic texts are quoted, very difficult to pronounce all the quotes correctly. I forgot which Nirmala Pandit wrote it but it has to be a gem amongst the literature avaialable. The Sakhia in it are fantastic. I dont really know how else to describe it.

If you do not have Sri Narayan Hari Updesh i suggest it to all as a must have!!!

Baba Lakhvir Singh ji were handed the guddi however they left due to internal problems. they are still in chandigarh and have a dera there.

Baba Harpal Singh Ji were asked by Biji (Bibi Ranjit Kaur Ji who was the wife of Baba Waryam Singh Ji) to come out of samadhi as they just used to sit in the bhora and do constant bhagti. They are now in charge of Ratwara Sahib. They also have immense gian. They want Baba Lakhvir Singh Ji to go back but i dont think it would happen now.

Both sants are of great gian.

It reminds me of Baba Ishar Singh Ji rara Sahib and Baba Mohinder Singh Ji Jargsahib. Baba Mohinder Singh Ji should have got the guddi after Baba Ishar Singh Ji left for sachkhand but left for jargsahib due to this Baba Teja Singh Ji had to take their rightful place.

Kam1825 got a reaction from Arsh1469 in My time in india with the Sants
When i went to India at Christmas i was lucky to see so much in 10 days. I saw alot of mahapurkh and got given alot of words of wisdom. Here are photos of the great sants and dera i visited.

First of all in the below photo you will Sant Balbir Singh Ji of the Buddha Dal whos darshan we got to do at Fatehgarh Sahib during the Jor Mela. Baba Ji were very very pleasent to talk to and presented to myself and my father a blue dastar each that belonged to them.

The second photo is of Sr Maan Mahant Gazab Singh Ji of the Sewapanthi Ashram in Amritsar. They are the younger of two sants, the main Sant at the Ashram is Sant Surjit Singh Ji Revari Walae who were given the Mahant leadership of the Bhai Mani Taksal by Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Sato Gali Walae. Sant Gazab Singh Ji were without pride, we did not realise they were sants initially as they sat with us praising sant surjit singh ji, then they personally made us langar and served us. Sant Ji gave me Sant Surjit Singh Ji's Steeks of the Bhavrasamrit, Vichar Mala, Gian Bhandar, Sarkutavali, Chanyaka Rajneetee and Gagar To Sagar, free before we left. Amazing seva i must say and steeks i would recommend to everyone to read.

The Third photo is of Sant Gurinder Singh Ji of Rara Sahib. Their dera is based close to Sri Kesgarh Sahib. They used to do Seva of Sant Kishan Singh Ji of Rara Sahib before they passed away in the early 90's they now do alot of parchar and are a credit to the lineage of Rara Sahib

The next photo is of Sant Hari Singh Ji Randhawe Walae. Tehy took us to their house as we turned up late at night. Staying with them was brilliant they are full of knowledge and have just released their second book. They told us about the problems the Sikhs in canada face today with the rise of Kala afgana and his men diluting sikhism with lies. Baba Ji gave us the VCDs which we have put on the net. It was baba ji that asked me to do this seva of putting everything on the net for all to have access for free to audio video and literature. Baba Ji were working on a massive steek on the Raagmala in order to stop all of the conflict over the Bani. I have so much respect for them and always will.

The next photo is of Sri Maan Pandit Sant Jagjeet Singh Ji Harkhowalae, Baba Ji were brilliant and had just returned from a nagar keertan. When we arrived at Sultanpur Lodhi we found Baba Ji watering the crops in the fields, washing the clothes of all of the sevadaars and tending to the animals. We offered to do the work for them but they refused asking us to sit and eat langar while they finished their duty. Baba Ji presented me with computerised versions of the Suhail Parkash and Bhannu Parkash which i have posted on thsi forum and alot of other books and audio. They also want all of their things put on the net rather then having a third party make money from gurbani. Baba Ji are so knowledgeable i would recommend all going to learn from them. Great jewel of the nirmalas i think

Next is something special, Sant Mahadev who live in Bandala. They are a shish of Sant Dalel Singh Ji Viakirt and are gur bhai of Sant Davinder SIngh Ji and Sant Sukha Singh Ji. They were born in Nepal and are of Chinese descent. Fantastic sadhu sants

The next photo is of Sant Salvinder Singh Ji of Bhikhi Sahib where are now the mahant of this dera due to the unfortunate passing of Sant Karam Singh Ji. Sant Salvinder Singh Ji are young but their keertan updesh is inspiring. They should be in the uk soon. Sant ji presented us with tapes of Sant Karam Singh Ji so that we could put the keertan updesh onto the net.

The next two are photos of the leader of the Buddha Dal, Akali Baba Santa Singh Ji who we met at the Jor Mela at Fatehgarh Sahib, Baba Ji have now aged alot and need to be helped by their devotees when the eat, sit up and walk. Baba Ji may be old aged but are still very much alert. Baba Ji presented myself with money and parsad along with a couple of tapes. Unfortunately not all nihangs are nice which i found and the tapes were taken back from me along with the cash as soon as i left Baba Ji's room by the nihangs waiting like robbers. The photos show Baba Ji with their helper, Baba Ji with me paying my respects to them and the third is of Nihangs in the room with Baba Ji.

The next is a photo of Sant Seva Singh Ji of Rampur Khera. When we found Baba Ji they were busy sweepng the floors in preperation for the bars of sant harnam singh ji. Baba Ji gave us lots and lots of literature which i hope to get ont he net soon along with about 30 MP3 cds of bhai pinderpal singh ji and Sant Hanam Singh Ji Rampur Khera walae, all of which will be on Gurmatveechar soon. Baba Ji does not allow anyone to touch their feet and are very strict. They have a library at the gurdwara where all audio and literature is distributed free. Great Seva for the panth by them

The next couple of pictures are of Sant Sukhchen Singh Ji. We went and visited them at their home. The area in which they live is poor and people go far to wells for water. There is no village gurdwara and baba ji are using all the money they get from katha abroad to make this. The phots show firstly baba ji, second Baba Ji with their horse, Third myself sitting on Baba Jis horse and the last one of the Gurdwara Baba Ji are builing for the vilage

Next is Sri Bhainee Sahib the main quarters of the Naamdharees. They were so happy to have us there and showed us the whole of the Gurdwara and area, we got to visit the Namdhari Guru Jagjit Singh who were humble and wise. They sat with us for some time and spoke to us. We were given VCD's and a woolen Mala each. Baba Ji also took us to the area where the Akhand Paatha take place, it is an area of complete purity where the paathis remain away from their partners, can only eat the food of the gurdwara and only drink the water from the well. No one can enter the area where the Akhand Paath is ongoing but due to the fact that we were not Namdharis were were allowed in to go and pay our respects in front of Maharaj. We also got to see the namdhar volleyball and hockey team. the hockey team is very highly regarded in india. One thing i will suggests to all is going for a simran session at the Har Ki Mandir at Sri Bhainee Sahib in the early morning it is blissfull all sitting together reciting the Gurmantar.

The three phots of Sri bhainee Sahib show initially the sarover which was ampty when we went. it is naturally filled with rainwater only. the other two phots show the akhand paaths of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with Two Paathis also doing continuous paath of Sri Jap Ji Sahib.

Right a great place i will recommend all to go to is Nirmal Kuttiya in Taran Taaran which is the dera of Sant Davinder SIgnh Ji, They are the shish of Sant Dalel Singh Ji Viakirt. Their katha is incredible and i was given 50 tapes which will be on gurmatveechar soon. The simran sessions here daily are similar to that of the Namdharis and each person who stays gets given their own little meditation hut like at Ratwara Sahib. Unfortunately at the time Baba Ji was in Canada. Their brother is Daljit Singh Nirmala in the UK who people can get audio and video of all nirmal sants from

The three photos of the dera are ttached. The first is a picture of the wall with photos of four sants, from left to right we have Sant Karam Singh Ji of Hoti Mardan, Sant Harnam Singh Ji Jian Walae, Sant Dalel Singh Ji Viakirt and Swami Parmanad Ji.

The second photo is of a female reading the Bani of Maharaj

The third is of Guru Gobind Singh Ji dressed as a Nirmala

The last two phots are of Sants at Rara Sahib, first being Sant Taja Singh Ji who are in charge of Rar Sahib Sant Ji are merged with God. They took over the seva of sant ishar singh ji in 1975. Sant Ji gave me the 151 divans of Sant Ishar Singh Ji which can now be found on gurmatveechar.com

The last photo is of the Sants who work in the langar Hall. They took over the seva from Sri Maan Sant Balwant Singh Ji who passed away last year. Sant Ji are the ones on the left of the photo. They gave me some sweets and CDs of Sant Balwant Singh Ji which will also be on the net.

There is so much more but i will save it for other posts. hope you enjoyed it.

it is full of vedant alot of which is used by Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji in their katha. Sant Giani Mohan Singh Ji also uses this text in their katha. There is a steek available in punjabi and a translation by Lala Sri Raam in english which is priced around £50 - £80. Thankfully it is also free on the internet on the link below

not all from the times of the Guru's Vairag Shatak, Chanakya Raajniti, Sakutavali, Vichar Mala, Adhyatam Ramayan were made during the time of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

around 100 years later Pandit Gulab Singh Ji created the Bharasamrit, Adhyatam Ramayan, Parbodh Chandar Natak and The Moksh Panth Parkash.

around 50 years after that Pandit Nischal Das created the Vichar Sagar and Vritee Parbhakar.

Soon after you get the works of numerous other Nirmalas including Bhai Santokh Singh Ji.

Chatanga being a nihang you would not heard of many of these as they tend to focus on Rattan Singh Bhangu's Panth Prakash and nothing else as it is only about wars and the tamo guni way of life the nihangs live in accordance to.

The Nirmala focus is more on salf realisation rather then just basic historical compositions.

I haven't recorded Sant Hari Singh Ji's katha on these granths or Bhai Balbir SIngh Ji's as they taught them to me privately for vidiya and not for the public

I am quite surprised people have not heard of thse granths more. There are quotes out of these granths in the Guvak Chana by Sant Hari Singh, the Rohanee Updesh (jeevan of Sant Ishar SIngh Ji Rara Sahib Walae) by Giani Mohan Singh Azaad, books by Sant Waryam Singh Ji Ratwara Sahib Walae, etc

Another popular granth taught by Sant Giani Hari Singh Ji is the Vairag Shatak by Pandit hardial ji. Very Very good granth, well worth reading.

The list of Nirmala granths can go on for ages. But the ones mentioned above as well as the Vairag Shatak are your basis before we start on gurbani.

unfortunately we are losing vidya at a rapid rate.

Chanaka Raajneti is written by Bhai Sobha Singh Sainapati under the direction of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The Vichar Mala was written by Anath Das and is a conversation betwen Guru and Shish on 7 levels of knowledge and the necessity of having a guru.

The Sarkatavali is written by Pandit Hardiyal Ji who was a distant relative of Guru Amadas Ji again focusing on the need for the Guru, Gyan, Dharam, etc

All three of these can be found in the forms of steeks. The best versions are by Sant Surjit SIngh Ji Sevapanthi.

Other granths of note are Adhyatam Parkash, Bhavrasamrit, Parbodh Chandar Natak, Vichar Sagar, Virtee Parbhakar and Moksh Panth Parkash that one learns regarding a basis and foundation in vedant before they move onto Gurbani. All of these granths are taught to students still by Sant Hari Singh Ji before they move onto Gurbani.

I am guessing the recordings will be from steeks which is a shame as it is no different to what you can read, i will try and get the recordings by Giani Hardeep SIngh Ji on these granths which are done in the form of open katha in a gurdwara with alot more sakhia and links to gurbani to help people understand the relationship between vedant and gurbani

Apologies, full review of the book by a genuine scholar below for those who want to read it

Review of the Mool Mantar commentary
In 2015 Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi of Leicester published an English commentary of the Mool Mantar. There have already been written dozens of such commentaries. However, what makes this book so fascinating and unique is that it is based on the research and writings of Baba Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale who was one of the greatest Sikh scholars of the 20th century. The book follows the traditional interpretations (sampradaya arth) of Sikhi which have been passed down orally through many centuries. While the ocean of traditional sampradayic wisdom is abundant in the Punjabi language, this book appears to be the first attempt of introducing the traditional interpretations in the English language solely targeting a western audience. This is what makes this book so spectacular and fascinating.
The book has an easy layout and is divided into several chapters. The first chapter sets the context and position of the Japji Sahib in the Sikh tradition. By drawing on sophisticated and difficult writings not easily available to Sikhs in the west - Nanak Prakash, Suraj Prakash, Gurmukh Prakash and the Rahitname - Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi has shown how the Japji Sahib has always been an integral and foundational aspect of the Sikh tradition. Many passages of these aforementioned books have been translated to English for the first time in history, showing how many of the Gurus have successively praised the Japji Sahib and what benefits the devotee will gain from reciting the holy verses.
The second chapter is a discussion on how Guru Nanak and his revelation fits in with the wider Indic traditions of religion and what sets Guru Nanak apart from the earlier avatars and India religions of the past. The purpose of this chapter is to show the readers how Guru Nanak’s message is a continuation of earlier dharams while at the same time being distinct and independent. There are several quotations from the Puranas , Upanishads and Islam to enhance and enforce the message of Guru Nanak. The impression you get from reading this chapter is that Sikhi is not a faith that originated out of the blue in the 15th century. Rather, Sikhi is a majestic faith with roots going back several thousands of years to the early days of creation. Classifying Sikhi as an old religious tradition is a typical outlook in the samprdayic traditions, but it is the first time I have seen such depth in the English language. The chapter draws heavily on the sophisticated terminology of Vedanta while showing how these concepts are present in the Guru Granth Sahib.
On page 63 begins the Mool Mantar commentary itself. Each word of the Mool Mantar has been given several meanings drawing from the Sikh tradition and the many Sanskrit origins of the various words. Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi shows how the Mool Mantar can be interpreted from its historical context but also from its linguistics. I was personally fascinated to see the depths of the Mool Mantar and how the different words add deeper perspectives to the Sikh faith, clearly showing how Sikhi is a universal faith welcoming people of all backgrouns and religious traditions. The chapter shows how on the one level the Mool Mantar can be engaged with purely within the Sikh tradition and from a purely meditative approach. On the other hand the chapter shows how the Mool Mantar fits perfectly into centuries old traditional Indic philosophy and the chapter gives a glimpse of how the Nirmala, Udasi and Taksali scholars of the past have been using, positioning and categorizing the mool mantar in their wider discussions with Brahmin priests and scholars all over India. This sophisticated level, I believe, is an aspect most Sikhs in the west have been deprived. In this chapters, Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi has drawn from Guru Granth Sahib, the vaars of Bhai Gurdas and the Persian ghazals of Bhai Nand Lal Goya. Interestingly, the commentary also draws on the lesser studied Sarukhtavali Granth and Vichar Sagar which have been integral books of the traditional samprdaic curriculum. The Puranas, Vedas, Ramayan and Upanishads are also referenced throughout this chapter.
The book is not written as a dry and academic book you read once and then forget everything about. Rather, it has been written with the purpose of inspiring Sikh youth in the west to develop an interest for the traditional and esoteric interpretations of Sikh philosophy. The roman spelling of Gurmat philosophical terms have been kept (instead of merely translating them and keeping the original words out). I believe this has been done purposefully to widen the readers’ vocabulary as well as to inspire them to look deeper into these philosophical concepts by their own study. I am pretty sure Kamalpreet Singh will succeed in his mission of inspiring and widening the plurality of Sikh expression in the west, not only by his online activities, but also with the publication of books like this, of which this book is only amongst the first.
I am looking forward to future writings and translations of Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi.
    Enjoy the reading!

This is for those who may be interested, I have had the opportunity to write a number of books recently, initially they were for sponsors of the podcasts but due to demand I have decided to put some of them out on a self publication site. Slowly they will increase in number with the Sarkutavali Teeka and Gagar Cho sagar also being added in June and August respetively.

At the moment there are three books available to purchase which are the 'Sahaskriti and Gatha Teeka by Mahant Ganesha Singh', 'Matra by Baba Sri Chand Ji' and 'The Jap Ji Sahib Katha 01 - Mul Mantra Katha by Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindrawale'
They are all on the following link

Thank you, and just so you anyone is aware there is no profit for these books as they all go back into the Sikhism in Snippits podcast
