Yep, very true. We are so close to having our own commercial taliban that the whole world can know about
I know this problem is big and really annoying, especially in UK

You seem to sound just as racist as any other real Brit !!

No, I don't think it was anything like this back in 70's/80's, for that matter 50's and 60's as well - since that's when my family first came !

I believe that Nanak ji is not recommending or suggesting the nostril practice.
The balance and steadiness can be obtained with normal 2 way nostril breathing!

Well, I wouldn't say that I have the same impression any longer !
I firmly believe that these jugtees and techniques can help us all.-as longer as we keep it within gurmat boundaries.

Whatever job you do, try to make it the company of sadh sangat.
This is the company or dealing with people that can help promote the gurmat sikhi within you.
It doesn't have to be the company of Sikhs in their bana, it can be he simple company of people wanting your help or one's that rely on your expertise. In these cases you should act in the best of their interests that helps your own spiritual growth.

I know that it is very difficult in many situations where you work for someone and they only guarantee your employment if you guarantee financial gain at anyone else's expense but that which helps your manager gain. In these cases you may be acting in the best interests of your employer and not the client/customer, for example.

There is never any harm or problem going to any gurdwara and asking for your wishes.
If you feel it matters for some reason what the sex of the child is, then there is nothing wrong with requesting specifically. But please don't be upset or disheartened if he grants a different sex !
It's all about learning and evolving with the line of 'what you hope for' and 'what his hukam grants' !
This is one of the qualities of being a Sikh, to be in line with his command.

Me and the family went to see this at a theater with less than 30 sold seats.
Overall, I wasn't extremely impressed, but it was very pleasing to watch.
It started off very well, with a lot of emphasis and emotion shown in the earlier scenes like the janeo...but then after an hour it seemed like the classic rush job to get get the movie done. You could tell that the beginiing half hour was planned well, but the material shown after was most probably scenes that were chosen and picked together out of a another half dozen.  Maybe this was because I knew there were many other sakhees inbetween and then realized that it would be impossible to fit them in a single movie.
The depth of the sakhis and the deeper true message wasn't shown or expressed. It focused away from the spiritual significance of Guru ji's messages. Again, this was probably because some of us have done deep vichaar on the events and messages when compared to someone learning it the first time.
I feel that it had the 'missionary' agenda because it mentioned more on kirat karo, and vand shako as Sat mentioned in his post.
This agenda was more apparent with the Kurukshetra story which was slightly twisted in the direction of missionary 'meat' agenda
There was no core message of nam jap or going within and finding the harimandar.
I can understand the people that are protesting because I felt that there were some scenes where an actor's face from the side were shown and these were totally unnecessary.
The fact that we know the actor was not sikh, didn't please me at all and neither me or my wife felt comfortable with it...I mean if they had used an actor just for effects or to stage some physical moves, then the odd few seconds of 'No face' or the slight side would have been acceptable.
These few second scenes where it is clearly an actor and not a computer animated image, were completely unnecessary.
A moving animation wouldn't have been a problem theses days as we've seen them since 1988's  "Who framed Roger Rabitt" movie.
The movie would have appealed more if they gave some narrative with regards to his udassis and got to the depth of core sakhi messages. Even showing some stills with narrative could have taken the film a lot further by filling in missing gaps and time frames

I'm glad I had the opportunity to see it before it gets taken down. You have to watch it with an attitude to absorb it instead of watching to nit pick and find faults.  Glad my kids got to see it as it gives opportunity for parents to elaborate further.

I understand what he is saying about Prayag and triveni.   However, the physical interaction does not really come into it and it doesn't have to. It's just that our intellect tells us that they must have engaged in physical activity to conceive, whereas they don't. Remember, our bodies are 5 elements and so is maya. If you can go beyond that veil into the Truth, then it is possible to have no engagement in the 5 tat maya in order to bring a pure product of Truth.

people will tell you different, but in my experience and as per my own journey; you are better doing this once you can stay antarghat for long periods of times doing "mental -silent" simran and attempting rom-rom technique. Once rom rom is in full blow, ie. continues effortly from intital kickstart, then you should spend longer periods of doing "dhyian" (putting concentrated focus on shabad sounds).
You will find that if done prematurely. then dhyian and focus won't remain constant and mind will just wonder more than usual.
IF just starting out, then only attempt after you can go antarghat and remain in steady state (equilibrium)" Sehaj".  Then you can go back and forth with saas saas and sitting in dhyian

Hari Hari is a powerful mantar.
I've been attending Kundalini Yoga for quite a few years. I also do Bikram hatha yoga on occasions when I don't attend weekly.
In Kundalini, there are many mantras used and I wouldn't say har har is used more than others. Sat-naam is used, so is Wahe-guru, ang sang Waheguru, Chatar chakar varti, ek onkar satgur prasad, Gobinday mukanday as well as har-har-har-har-Gobinday........and there are a number of others.
However, I've never come across  "HAR HAR Waheguru"  as you mention above(bold)
A few years ago, I mentioned on the meditation forum about how I personally experienced the power of Har Har mantra and I recently mentioned it with regards to it's pronunciation on Bhagat Singh's thread below..

You have to remember that the Sri Guru Granth sahib ji is for all of humanity and mankind. Doesn't matter what religion or origins someone is from, the gurbani can be applied by all. This is why it references shabads with different mantars and doesn't stick with single gurmantar.

I don't know about that because "sohang" is in gurbani.

I understand what you mean about the "he is me",  and I would also agree with your understanding. Nevertheless, I can explain about the technique/intention they use with So-Hang jap, but firstly could you explain what "Jagayasus"  means?  (I'm not sure if I understood it correctly)

Now, with the So-Hang jap. I believe they do it as 2 syllables of So and Hang. ... so-hang...so-hang...so-hang.....  They can do it in single breath or a So and Hang in separate breaths.
The idea is to get so absorbed in the sound of mantar; that it becomes both So-Hang  and Hang-So..  Should be heard as if it is Hang-so and also So-Hang is being uttered.  Similar to when a person can't differentiate whether one is saying so-hang or hang-so.
This is their way to take you to jyoti-jyot milayee.   "I am him"  and "He is me".  so-hang,  hang-so

    QUESTIONS
    1)   For what reasons and what "Intentions" is the dancing referring to?  It describes a group of people that have a name.    However, are these group of people imitating another bunch of people? ...maybe a a group that does something similar with different intention and as an act of serving / praising the lord?
    2) Are they serving the lord with their dancing or are they serving their own maya hunger? " (clue is "Rotī▫ā kāraṇ pūrėh ṯāl.")
    3)  The shabad continues to describe how other people dance with the daily sounds of grinding stones, the potter's wheel,  oil-press..etc..  This is referring to people that are doing the work of karams as per hukam, but it's not their physical body that is dancing. They ARE dancing in harmony whilst doing Kirat. REMEMBER- DANCING is expression combined with repetition, to the tempo of repeating beat or rhythm.  I
    4) Can we see that there 2 groups of people described as dancing. One's dancing in display for intentions and fulfillment of maya hunger and the other's dancing internally whilst doing bhog of daily karams....  These karams are as per hukam and help contribute to the kirat.
    ਬੰਧਨ ਬੰਧਿ ਭਵਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥
    Banḏẖan banḏẖ bẖavā▫e so▫e.
The Lord binds us in bondage - so do we spin around.
    ਪਇਐ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਨਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
    Pa▫i▫ai kiraṯ nacẖai sabẖ ko▫e.
According to their actions, so do all people dance.
The above  describes how we all dance, but it's the "how" and as per "kirat"  that's important here.   Kirat karna, Vand shakna and naam japna  CAN ALL be done simultaneously in the form of dance(Yes, they can!)   The real significance of bhangra moves have a lot of meanings to them; They are about activities whilst doing  kirat (working in farms/fields) , there are  moves that mimic animals of the pastures,  the gadda(tractor),  preparing soil, sowing seeds... reaping the grain..cutting the corn....and many more  You need to think of these bhangra moves and music, minus the polluting lyrics that have infiltrated this traditional folk dance.
The bani above says" ਪਇਐ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਨਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ  "According to their actions, so do all people dance.  and the lines preceding gave details of the different intentions.   Those who ਨਚਿ ਨਚਿ ਹਸਹਿ, (Nacẖ nacẖ hasėh) and will be ਚਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਰੋਇ  are the one's that danced for the physical dehi's intentions. The shabad addresses a few main points directly  that characterize different dancing, ...The "What or Who is dancing? and also the Who is one dancing to?  Is it to EGO of maya, or is it to the Truth of the Niranankar. This all depends on where you consciousness is attached and what your intentions are.
It indirectly addresses EGO, since the shabad never mentions haumai or ahankar, but EGO is the reason of why One's body dances for intentions of maya, whereas, the other's inner soul dances in harmony whilst doing bhog of it's karams whilst doing sift salah of Satguru (HUKAM) ememeber what Naamdev told Trilochan about printing designs on the sheets whilst he was internally attached to the Lord. ...........

    ਹਾਥ ਪਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਚੀਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੨੧੩॥
Hāth pā▫o kar kām sabẖ cẖīṯ niranjan nāl. ||213||
With your hands and feet, do all your work, but let your consciousness remain with the Immaculate Lord. ||213||
Then, why would dancing be a problem if consciousness is NOT on 5 chor, but on Niranjan.   We've been foolishly misled to associate all dancing with nowadays connections to kaam, lust and sexual innuendos. This is because of the lyrics and motives they use to market the dances and songs.

Sacred dancing has existed in almost every ancient civilization. The different variants and forms of worship have to be appreciated from all these cultures to understand the meanings of unison and harmony. The arti itself is a representation of the divine cosmic dance that has existed since the beginning and that will continue to do so.

Five Tat realization and mastering is the key to conquering Maya in it's completeness. Why did Guru Nanak ji's body vanish and couldn't located?  .. because Satguru ji was able to completely dissolve his 5 tat maya sareer,  into maya itself, by his own will.
Many ancient zen masters have done this as well, and this is how they can do stuff like walk on water, disappear into fire ..etc...all at their own will....... because they've conquered those elements of water and fire.

It has made me realise that i have a very long way to still go and there is so much more. As an idea, I feel it is ONLY a fraction (1/10th) of the complete journey to sachkhand.
The only thing that can worry me at times is that I may feel that everyone thinks I'm becoming introverted and detached. But I am far from that because I feel much more in touch and attached with REALITY.
