  1. wasnt the distinction between men and women clearly pointed out, when men where ordained with the name SINGH, and women with the title KAUR, as genders we both have different roles to play which complement one another, we do not have to imitate one's behaviour or strive for a false sense of equality, which in reality is our ego's overcoming our sensibilities, i dont see how it will make a women more in tune with being a sikh, by wearing a turban, just as it does not make a man more of a sikh, if he wears a turban and then acts against the ideals it represents,
  2. in a sense some people wrote that they themself tied the dastaar, but say if those same chroniclers, are the one's that wrote she was ordered to wear a dastaar, chroniclers are evil people, : (
  3. hey ! i think at times it does seem like the whole world is against u, everywhere u turn it seems like there are ppl giving u condescending looks, etc their ignorance of the subject n insensitivity can get even thr strongest of souls down, BUT iv found for all the negative ppl there always those that will appreciate u for what u r, n the beliefs u stand for, jus recently, a random old muslimg guy comes into my office, (am an estate agent) n i ask him how i can help him, n he says, he doesnt want a thing, but jus wanted to talk to me n say how pleased he was seeing me, i was like we talked about the present situation, n he talked about how seeing me n my appearance, how it gladdened him to see that not every1 around us is ditching their beliefs at a drop of a hat, that guys thoughts n sentiments, will prob stay with me for a long time now, hang in there star, *HUG*
  4. ok, i havent a clue, when and why did this practice come about, thanks in advance, ; )
  5. this site is a TOTAL EMBARASSMENT !!!
  6. thats an interesting point you have raised, its similiar to the question, IS GOD ALWAYS RIGHT, n if the answer to that question is yes, then by default, everything which happens is right. but to truly believe and follow the diction that God is always right is far beyond us mere mortals, because we fail to understand the intricacies of life, karm, etc. hence it was introduced in the Bhagavad Gita and lata in by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, that as humans all we should worry about is our deeds and not the reward for those deeds, leave the rewarding of deeds to God himself, but in turn God is the all doer, but to ensure that ppl would not have an easy get out clause when they commited evil, this level of thinking was introduced. Free will, etc was also introduced, so in a sense we are right to propogate the arguement of free will, because of our limited understand of God.
  7. Infernal, but have u seen God to worship him, for all you know God could b a fallacy, hence its in the Satguru that we see God, so following the Satuguru's words is following God's will, n not following his word is against God's will, n i like the way Truthy put it, Sun n Sun rays, nice analogy
  8. :$ i dont actually feel that women need to wear a dastar, but in regards to the issue, iv been wearing my dastar since i was 12 i think, iv been mistaken for a muslim a fair few times as well. Ppl tho will always stare and show a level of ingnorance to something they do not understand, its jus a unfortunate human trait. As long as you are comfortable with what you are, sod what the world thinks of you
  9. ok, would pretty much wholeheartedly agree with the account posted above by NEO SINGH iv read the account on several occasions, and have also heard the story in many sakhi's being told at the Gurdwara, the names of the panj piyare are very significant to Daya, Dharam, Himmat, Mohkam, Sahib, for the Khalsa to be established Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji instilled five Shakti's within the Khalsa's mind body and soul Daya - Charity and compassion towards others Himmat - Strength, Courage Dharam - Religious belief Sahib - Ordered Governance Mohkam - n lastly i cant remember the english for this, il add it as soon as i get home n refresh my memory. by instilling these five powers within Sikhs and the Khalsa was established to fight against the Moghul ruler's of the time, and up until all the five shakti's were intact the Sikh rule was prevelant, and as they say the rest is history n in regards to Nihal Kaur's comments, it was if i remember correctly Guru Arjan Dev Ji's son who was reprimanded, but not for showing miracle's, he was sent to the court of the Moghul ruler of the time, and he displayed many miracles by the Guru Ji's order's but then he read a line of Gurbani wrongly so in order to not cause offence to the Moghul ruler, Infernal Monk, IMHO, the Satguru is God's representation on this earth, hence they have power over all of which exists, so bringing someone back to life wouldnt b something out of the ordinary
  10. :$ i think the biggest obstacle, is myself, and my mind We all have the tools towards gaining more understanding, gaining more knowledge but sometimes we are let down by our own procrastination, but maybe this isnt such a bad thing. All of us are on our own individual journeys, and one day enlightenment will bless us all.
