All of us here have probably heard of a purported cancer epidemic in Panjab (which is mainly put down to excessive use of fertilisers/pesticides, although I do remember reading that certain areas in Panjab had a higher rate of radioactivity than normal which might point at other more insidious causes - like people burying nuclear waste there?) You know I've always been interested in natural plant based remedies, and lately the boom of interest in cannabinoids (in the west at least) shows some real promise in this area. Even CBD oil is now openly available here, although Rick SImpson (the Canadian man responsible for bringing the potential benefits of the plant in this application to the masses), feels that THC is the most potent cannabinoid to combat cancer mutations. Then we have the theory that the wide range of cannabinoids in the plant (more than 60 of them) actually work best together and not in an isolated fashion - referred to as the 'entourage effect'. I've heard of a couple of relatives (none that I was close to) passing away from various cancers back home over the years. For those of us that have been there, we'd probably know that hemp/cannabis grows like wildfire over there. In fact the variety of cannabis known as Indica (which Rick Simpson says is best) actually originates from there (Indica is apparently a corruption of the Latin Indikum which means 'from India') I can't help but ask: are Sikhs unwittingly (especially those from an agricultural background) sitting on a potentially powerful solution/treatment to the medical problem over there?

    Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I have heard from people that health, diet, diesease is mentioned in both the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth Sahib Ji. Does anyone have any further information, it would be interesting to know? I know time and time again its mentioned in Guru Granth Sahib Ji to sleep little and also eat little but is there anything else? What is the best guide to health and diet so we can ensure that our body is upkept to the best degree which is important for meditation? Also is there anything/any advice that sant/mahapurshs have given on this topic? Would appreciate any insight. Thanks

  4. Health is our wealth. If we have good health, everything will go well. Eat according to your health. Eat fresh vegetables, fruits, dry fruits, salads, milk and product, whole grains, pulses, condiments, soy and products, and beans daily. Eat fruits than drinking its juice. Fruits contain fiber that is necessary for your digestive system. Eat Punjabi Khana such as Makki di Roti, Saron Da Saag, Butter, Lassi and Desi Ghee, and Karah Prashad. Avoid eating fried food stuffs and junk foods such as hot dogs, pizza and burger. Eat Yogurt in each day diets if possible. Eat more in day but less in night; however most of us do it reversely. Avoid over eating in especially in parties. Avoid soft drink, as these usually contain chemicals used for long preservation and high sugar. Never avoid eating fats as unsaturated fats and oils are useful for assimilation of vitamins such as Vitamin K and Vitamin E. If facing acidity, eat alkaline foods. Take physical exercises daily: Run 15 minutes daily to keep you fit and fine, if your health does not allow running, then take a walk for 30 minutes daily. This helps to flow sufficient amount of blood to several organs including pancreas that produces insulin to control your blood sugar. Walking and running decrease blood sugar level in blood.
