    Aurangzeb

Hi All, I've read a lot of positive news lately between Muslims and Sikhs. lots of shared history between Muslim sufis and Sikh Gurus. However one point of contention seems to be how Muslims and Sikhs view the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. There seems to be different accounts of his legacy - either a pious Muslim leader who did execute people based purely on political grounds rather than religious ones, - on the other a despotic ruler who forced the Hindus to Islam. Historical records provide evidence for both. What are the views on the people on this forum?
  2. Please listen to Gyani Thakur Singh jee, talking about the 5 prayers of Muslims. Please start listening after 37:00 min: http://www.gurbaniupdesh.org/multimedia/04-Katha/13-Giani%20Thakur%20Singh%20Ji%20%28Patiala%20Wale%29/Katha%20Sri%20Guru%20Granth%20Sahib%20Ji/CD12%28Ang1026-1190%29/0977-Ang-1082-Pankti-17.mp3 Bhul chuk maaf

  4. Sat Siri Akaal Jee, I don't know why we cannot claim easily that even if the Holy Qur'an is a miracle of God and is authentic and also we can share the belief of all prophets, peace be upon them all, and also in Muhammad * as the last one we can be in the same time gurmukhs who can live according to teachings of our holy Gurus. One thing doesn't exclude the other one, it's time to spread universal love, isn't it?
  5. Really good exegesis of the multi-faceted activities of the Budha Dal during the eighteenth and nineteenth century. There will be a follow up of similar activities in a sequel, extending from the 20th-21st century. http://tisarpanth.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/political-activities-of-budha-dal.html
  6. Out of interest, seeing the rise in the da'wah jihadis who vilify Sikh history to gain easy conversion points; what do purataan sources, both mughal and Sikh, tell us about the relationship between the 5th, Sixth Gurus and the Mughal emperors. Specifically if this could be a questionnaire, then: -What truly happened when Guru Arjan Dev Ji met Khusru? -Did the Guru have any rebellious intents? -What did Jahangir think of the Guru before executing him? -What was Chandu Shah's role in the matter? -What transpired in the meeting between Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and Jahangir? -What led to the Guru being arrested/courting arrest? -What occurred that Shah Jahan and the Guru started measuring swords? -What was Jahangir and Shah Jahan's opinion on the sixth Guru?
  7. Jaal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi: I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was Man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying? Yet once more I shall die as Man, to soar With angels bless'd; but even from angelhood I must pass on: all except God doth perish. When I have sacrificed my angel-soul, I shall become what no mind e'er conceived. Oh, let me not exist! for Non-existence Proclaims in organ tones, To Him we shall return.
