Why we are called Sikhs? Sikh name to Sikh religion which Guru Ji gave. I am Sikh since generations. I am proud of being a Sikh. Sikhism is the best modern and progressive religion. Non Sikhs ask me and I want answers for the following questions. 1. Which Guru Ji started Sikh religion? 2. In which year Guru Ji started Sikh religion? 3. At which place Guru Ji started Sikh religion? 4. In which place and year Guru Ji declared that my religion name is “Sikh” 5. In which place and year which Guru Ji declared that my religion is a separate from others, and it is a separate Kaum also. If any Guru Ji made Sikhs a separate Kaum (nation) he must have written in SGGS. 6. Is our Sikh religion a religion or Kaum(nation) While answering please mention name of book and page, edition year etc. I tried very hard to find answers to these questions from old Janam Sakhis, Panth Prakash, Gur bilas, Suraj Prakash, Guru Granth Sahib, Bhai Gurdas Ji and Dasam Granth also. But no where it is written about my questions. Please do not quote from Modern history books. Please help me.
WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh Guru Piyari Guru Swari Khalsa Saadh Sangat Jio, Daas has a request in front of the whole Khalsa Panth. There is a Gurudwara Sahib in my locality by the name Gurudwara Dookh Nivaaran Saahib. It is located near hwy 410 and Steeles Rd area in Brampton. That Gurudwara used to be under the control of Missionaries and it used to be called Sikh Lehar Centre. But with Guru Sahib Ji's Kirpa they were not successful in preaching their ideology. Guru Sahib Ji protected His Khalsa Panth. It is the same place where a dispute had happened a few years ago because of Darshan ex-Ragi. But Khalsa Ji, no one would have ever imagined that one day tides would turn the other way and the management of this Gurudwara Sahib will be under Panthic GurSikhs. Khalsa Ji, in the beginning of this year, a naujwan Singh born and raised in Canada took the Gurdwara Sahib building on lease. He is now the sewadar there now. Its fascinating how much things have changed over the last months. Everything that Missionaries preach against is now being practiced with Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj Ji's Apaar Kirpa. This Singh and his Singhni prepare Degh and cook Langar in Sarbloh Ji, there is an emphasis on Guru Sahib Ji's Bana, suchmata (cleanliness) is given importance that Missionaries would call Brahminwaad... And the biggest thing of all is, every Friday evening there is a Simran Program held by youth. That is something really ironic to happen there because Missionaries stop people from Japping Naam. But Khalsa Ji, as much as Guru Sahib Ji has given his Quom this opportunity to step up and make a difference, its not happening. The Sangat's attendance there is very low. Khalsa Ji its our responsibility of youth to stand by our brother, and support him in running the Gurudwara Sahib. There is a lot of weight on that Singh's shoulders. He can't do it alone. Khalsa Ji that Singh is a father of three children and he has to manage that too. It will be shame for all of us if that Singh wouldn't be able to carry the Sewa forward because managing a Gurudwara Sahib can't be done alone. There's no commitee uncles controlling the system in that Gurudwara Sahib ji its just Singhs. Khalsa Ji daas is sorry to this but we will have to face a unforgiving future if don't stand by Singhs that are trying to make a difference in our quom. So I beg Guru Khalsa Panth to please step up and give support for running the Gurudwara Sahib Ji. It's OUR Gurudwara, of Guru Khalsa Panth Ji. On Saturday October 15th, Bhai Surjit Singh Ji is from the UK is going to be doing Katha from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Please attend and show your support Khalsa Jio. (Bhul chuk maaf ji) WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh.
http://dailysikhupdates.com/breaking-namdhari-leader-wants-to-join-khalsa-panth/Namdhari Leader Wants to Join Khalsa PanthDSU News Bureau) 3 June 2015- Namdhari leader Thakur Dalip Singh and his followers arrived at Hassanpur, Punjab to visit Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa and to express his willingness to join Khalsa Panth. Bapu Ji was arrested by police and taken to the hospital for force feeding. Although, Thakur Dalip Singh couldn’t meet with Bapu Ji but he met with Sangarsh committee leaders and expressed unity for the cause. It is important to point out that not all Sikh groups under the Akal Takht have come in support of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa nor have they visited him. Thakur Dalip Singh isn’t the head of the Namdhari community but an estimated 80% of Namdharis follow him. The important points towards unity were the following: 1) Namdhari Leader Thakur Dalip Singh has told his followers to use the word Guru while saying Guru Granth Sahib Ji as before his followers pronounced Aad Sri Granth Sahib. 2) They have agreed to use the Fateh greeting as before it wasn’t always used. 3) Majhbhi Sikhs have been given equal rights as before they ate langar separately and were treated unequally, but now those Majhbhi Sikhs that are Naamdhari will be treated equally according to Thakur Dalip Singh. 4) Thakur Dalip Singh has pledged to support Khalsa Raj and a separate Khalsa State. 5) Thakur Dalip Singh has organized a program in the past where Panthic groups were present. In that program, the theme was for unity of various Sikh groups for a common cause. Also, in that program the Dohara ‘Agia Bhaei Akal Ki’ was read and names of only the ten Sikh Gurus were said which has never happened before among the Naamdharis. Thakur Dalip Singh further pledged to join the Khalsa Panth and to follow it’s Rehats. The historic meeting for unity is being recognized as a turning point to achieve long avoided goals of the Panth.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. CyberSangat ji (I hope that's appropriate to say), I'm kind of new to this site, and I came here mainly because of the load of questions I had. A few of them are about the 'Khalsa Rehatnama', found in the Gutkas issued by Baba Santa Singh ji of the Buddha Dal. I find It to be quite strange. It had portions from Bhai Nand Lal Singh Ji's Bani (his Rehatnama and Tankhanama in specific), a portion from a Gurbilas, Suraj Prakash (I think) and a few other select paurdees (stanzas) from other Rehatnamas and Granths. Why is it like that? Who Compiled the 'Khalsa Rehatnama' of the Buddha Dal? Why are only a select few paurdees in the Buddha Dal's Rehatnama? Also, I know a Akhand Kirtani Jatha Singh and he reads a 'Khalsa Rehatnama' which is a compilation of like 6-7 different Rehatnamas and shabads from Sarbloh Granth and Sri Dasam Patshahi Ki Granth during Amritvela after Nitnem, he has them written down in a few papers. I have never heard of, known of, or seen a Singhni or Singh do that. Is it like an AKJ version of the 'Khalsa Rehatnama' or something? I haven't even seen Akj Singhs or singhnis do something like that. I do paath of a few Rehatnamas, but I don't understand why the Buddha Dal's 'Khalsa Rehatnama' is so short and cut up.
