Hounslow Gurdwara Shamelessly Promotes Niddar Book

(Op/Ed)

Friday 16th of January 2009

Panthic Weekly News Bureau

Hounslow (KP)—On Monday, 12th January 2009, the All Parliamentary Group for the Punjabi Community in Britain celebrated the 3rd centenary celebrations of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at the House of Commons. At the same event, they had a book launch for ‘Nihang’ Niddar Singh & Parmjit Singh’s controversial book “In the Master’s Presence: The Sikhs of Hazoor Sahib (Volume I: History).â€

Last week the official video was released of ‘Nihang’ Niddar Singh admitting to “misleading the Sikh congregation†at Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib during the 300 years celebration in the presence of Singh Sahib Giani Kulwant Singh (Jathedar of Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib). It is widely known that in Niddar’s so-called Shaster Vidiya classes, university talks, seminars, and Sanatanist websites, he encourages women to cut their hair, believes women don’t need to take Amrit, that there are two types of Amrit—Khande ki Pahul for men and Kirpan Di Pahul for women, propagates the caste system, makes serious allegations against Damdami Taksal, slanders the S.G.P.C and Sri Akal Takhat Sahib as being neo-Sikhs, and believes in the worship of Shiva, Ganesh & other Hindu deities.

Astonishingly, despite countless exposés of admin cut Niddar Singh circulating across the Internet on Panthic Weekly, e-groups, forums, and websites, and the fact that the majority of UK Gurdwaras have banned him from doing any form of parchar, the Hounslow Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara showed open support for this thankhaiya and anti-Panthic RSS agent.

Despite, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Alice Way, Hounslow, claiming to support the Sri Akal Takhat and Panthic Sikh Rehit Maryada, they helped to organise Niddar Singh’s book launch and showed support for the anti-Panthic sanatanist through emailing the Sangat on e-groups, advertising the book launch. The email sent on the ‘Sikh News Discussion group’ stated:

“…This landmark book explores the history of Hazoor Sahib, the 4th Sikh Takht (Temporal and Spiritual Authority). This exotic and unfamiliar world is brought to life with over 150 sumptuous illustrations of paintings, photographs, portraits, maps, artifacts and documents from archives and private collections from around the world.

Niddar Singh Nihang is an expert in Shastar Vidya, the Sikh battlefield arts. Parmjit Singh is an independent researcher specialising in the photographic history of 19th Century Punjab.â€

The Hounslow Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara needs to clarify their position on their stand in supporting anti-Sikh elements. The entire Sikh Sangat are urged to ring Sri Guru Singh Sabha Hounslow and ask them why they allowed such an event and why they supported Niddar Singh’s book launch. The Sangat hopes that the Gurdwara Committee will make an apology to the Sikh Sangat and promise that they will not support or allow anti-Sikh forces to do Parchar in the future.

Further information or clarification can be obtained from Mohan Singh Nayyar, General Secretary, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Hounslow (Tel: 020 8577 2793).

Most of the people I know refer to Panthic Weekly as "Nindya" Weekly! :)

Incidently, I have read Niddar Singh/Parmjit Singh's book "In The Masters Presence - Sikhs of Hazoor Sahib" http://www.amazon.co.uk/Masters-Presence-S...b/dp/0956016804 and it seems to be very well researched and put together.

A good job all round. :)

This video is a great way of distinguishing who is right and wrong in this whole thing. An honest man never apologizes for the mistakes he has not made, especially in the fashion Niddar Singh did. Infront of the Jathedar of Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib and at Hazur Sahib.

Were you severely beaten up by Niddar Singh, hence why you spread venom about him on various forums and through Nindya Weekly?

We have a Niddar Singh supportor here......Randip please learn the definition of Nindya. It'll save you from saying untrue and stupid things. Also if you are the same Randip Singh from SPN,which I believe you are, then the only person spreading nindya is you of Sant Jarnail Singh ji.

"I think he meant that Niddar Singh spreads his hate through his chele who are on various forums."

Could you provide examples of this? The only hate I have ever seen on forums is that directed towards Nidar Singh.

The only hate I have seen on forums is the hate re-directed towards Nidar Singh, that he directs initially towards taksal and akj.

So true!

I started reading all this stuff about Niddar Singh a few years ago, and thought the guy must be crazy. Then I realised it was directed mostly by some factions of the Sikh fraternity.

I investigated further. Saw what he had to say. Noticed he and Parmjit Singh (a very intelligent fellow and a good Sikh scholar), researched with his the book "In the Master Presence".

I saw video's on youtube of him talking, he spoke eloquently and intelligently. Then I saw the childish articles on Pathic weekly and the "Niddar the Giddar" video's on youtube.

I read his book, and spoke to other intelligent Sikhs about him. Their opinion was positive.

Saw him fight and saw him on a TV documentary. He seemed to have none of the venom that AKJ and Taksali Sikhs had towards him (although he would have just cause).

What I found was a physically fit, young, intelligent Sikh man who taught young Sikhs how to fight. He led by example.

My opinion now of this man is that he is a far more positive influence on young Sikhs than some of the negativity that is embodied by groups such as AKJ/Taksal etc, via their Panthic weekly nonsense.

I don't agree with all his views but on the whole he is a good man and a good role model in Sikhi.

was Niddar Singh severely beaten up by taksal or akj? probably not, so why does he spread lies and venom about them on various forums and his website?

Now that I would like to see. All those skinny AKJ/Taksaler's I meet daily flying left right and centre. :)

Amazing how brave these fellow's are in defamation of fellow Sikh's, but put a Musalman or Kala infront of them and they run to their mummies. :)

No offence Randip Sian but being eloquent doesn't make someone right! I remember he made some claim a few years ago that the Koran used to be studied in the Bungas around the Durbar Sahib during Maharaja Ranjit Singh's time. Yeah right! The Badshahi mosque was used as a stable but the Koran was studied!

why wouldn't the Koran be studied? Sikh's have reverence for all religions. Bani makes references to the Bible, Koran, and Vedas.

From what I understand the Guru's were familiar with these texts. Studying something does not necessarily mean you believe in it.

In anycase, going back on topic, I think it is more than just being eloquent, and says more about some of the nindya portrayed by these so called Panthic groups, being inexcusable.

Anyway, just my opinion...just like you are entitled to yours.....and Nidar Singh is entitled to his. :)

Randip Singh

There's no reason why the Koran MIGHT not have been studied there but it is highly unlikely. We can easily say that Robinson Crusoe might also have been studied there but then that is also highly unlikely. Because we are discussing a time when the Sikh literature refered to the rule of the Khalsa as a time when the Maseetan, Sunnat and Baag would all be destroyed. I suppose Niddar Singh keeps quiet about that!

the people that made niddar singh sign an apology were not fat. didnt really see anyone flying about then.

and for your info, niddar singh spouted venom on his website about taksal/akj first. to say that they were the ones who starting dissing him is laughable. he hates taksal as he believes that the tankhaya of Baba Santa Singh was due to taksal.

One question:

Did our Guru's study the Koran?

I know a lot of people who disagree and openly criticise the Taksal (and rightly so), yet I do not see venomous campaigns against them?

Could you post the link where Nidar Singh started saying bad things about Taksal too?
