Mool Mantar Distortion ?

Valli Singh Ji, I have heard many Gursikh pronounce Ek Oankaar with an elongated Oooaaan - so as you say, the beej mantar is used in meditative terms.

Too many people in Canada have way too much time on their hand! The Devil make work!!

Bhai Gurdas Ji states (as Matheen Ji has mentioned):

Vaar 3 Pauri 15 Mystery of the Mulmantr

aykaa aykankaaru|ikhi daykhaaliaa|

By writing 1 (One) in the beginning, it has been shown that Ekankar, God, who subsumes all forms in Him is only one (and not two or three).

Line 1

oorhaa aoankaaru paasi bahaaliaa|

Ura, the first Gurmukhi letter, in the form of Oankar shows the world controlling power of that one Lord.

Line 2

sati naamu karataaru nirabhau bhaaliaa|

That Lord has been understood as the True-Name, Creator and the Fearless One.

Line 3

niravairahu jaikaaru ajooni akaaliaa|

He is devoid of rancour, beyond time and free from the cycle of transmigration.

Line 4

sachu neesaanu apaaru joti ujaaliaa|

Hail the Lord! His mark is truth and He shines in bright effulgent flame.

Line 5

panj akhar upakaar naamu samaaliaa|

Five letters (1 Oankar) are altruists; they have in them the power of the person of the Lord.

Line 6

paramaysur sukhu saaru nadari nihaaliaa|

The individual, understanding their import becomes blest with graceful glance of God who is the essence of delights.

Line 7

nau angi sunn sumaaru sangi niraaliaa|

As the numerals from one to nine adding zero with them reach to the infinite count

Line 8

neel aneel veechaari piram piaaliaa ॥15॥

The persons who quaff the cup of love from their beloved become master of infinite powers.

To add to this topic regarding the Om and Onkar:

As per "Anurag Sagar" granth by Bhagat Kabir: Hindus prononce Om because their old rishi/muni heard this sound after they reached some stage, but that sound is coming from Kaal's area. The actual sound is Onkar.

Once someone actually reach GOD, there is NO sound there.

EDIT: As corrected by Valli Singh, the Granth name is Anurag Sagar. Thanks Valli Singh for pointing this out.
