"sri Dasam Granth And British Connection" - Fact Or Fiction

The sacred Banee of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib has guided the Khalsa for the last 300 years and is part and parcel of the Sikh psyche. Sri Dasam Granth of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib is the second most respected scripture of the Sikhs after Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In addition of being the source of the Banees of Sikh Baptism (Amrit Sanchar), Daily Prayer (Nitnem) and Ardas, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib is also the only source from where the terminologies, phrases and concepts of the Khalsa are derived. Some prominent examples are, 'Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh', 'Deg Teg Fateh', 'Bipran Ki Reet', 'Panth', 'Khalsa', 'Khanda', 'Kirpan', 'Sarab-loh', 'Dharam-Yudh' etc.

Recently there have been some theories that are being peddled that the Banee of the Tenth Guru is actually the creation of the British. This conspiracy theory was first propagated by one Dr Jasbir Singh Mann, a self acclaimed scholar of Sri Dasam Granth. Concocting this fake theory he claimed that Sri Dasam Granth was made by Mahants of Patna, Nirmalas and the British. This mixture of fiction and fantasy has been the most absurd theory on Sikh history.

"On the Visakhi of 1699 the compositions of the Sri Dasam Granth were recited together with those from Sri Guru Granth Sahib."

Is there any evidence for this leaving out the Kaushish account written in 1780 (which mentions some compositions which comprise some part of the document now known as Dasam Granth but apparently does not mention a 'Dasam Granth' itself)?

Is the quran also a 'document'. Please try and be a little respectful, you are not so ignorant so as to 'innocently' make disrespectful remarks, being from a Sikh background.

For most people in this forum and in the Khalsa Panth, the Sri Dasam Granth is 'Granth' it is the physical svaroop (through Bani) of our Father and Master. Nearly all Khalsa Sikhs communicate with God through this divine meduim.

Weedol

Have you seen the video of Dasam Granth debate that panthic singhs had with kala afghani Jeonwala. You need to see those to enhance your knowledge so that you do not repeat such questions.

Guru Kian sakhian were written on account of Bhat Vahis. Bhats were attendants at gruu sahib's court and Sarup singh comes from that family. So his accounts are very authentic.

Dasam Granth was knwon as Dasma patshah ju ka Granth before standardization was done in 1897. The same applies to SGGS ji as it has undergone many name changes.

Bhai jaita ji was contemporary of Guru sahib.Mention of five banis also find place in his Granth " Sri guru Katha."

Very well said.Such disrespect is shown deliberately to hurt others and out of hate. It has to stop immediately.

Take it easy. I am not saying it wasn't there nor am I trying to offend. I am just interested in having a fuller picture of history.

Genuine queries are always welcome. there is one important point to keep in mind that if we apply the same scrutiny to SGGS ji , Dasam granth comes on top as for as authenticity issues are concerned.
