Ketoconazole Shampoo In The Uk

Does anyone know if you can get Ketoconazole (Nizoral) shampoo without animal collagen in the UK?

I tried searching on google, but on most websites there's no ingredients list. I came across medicines.org.uk/ and all the Nizoral shampoos contain animal collagen. Are the shampoos by Janssen-Cilag Ltd and McNeil Products Ltd the only ones you can get in the UK?

Your help will be much appreciated.

I don't know about 'Ketoconazole' but as far as I am aware shampoos by 'original source' tend to be totally vegan or vegetarian, it usually says on the bottle.

sorry i can't be of more help

edit:google search came up with this http://www.vegetarianbeautyproducts.com/ketoconazole-shampoo/

Thanks for the advice, Suryadev, however I don't have white dandruff as you see in the Head & Shoulders adverts, I have seborrhoeic dermatitis and the only shampoo that has worked for me is ketoconazole.

It all started in the UK in 2006 (yes I am blaming the uk, patha nahi paani di ki bimari lol). I have a very itchy scalp and I've lost a lot of hair. I was 21 back then when it started and it's not normal to loose so much hair when you are only 21. I've been to 5 different doctors here (2 GPs and 3 different dermatologists) and a dermatologist in Punjab. All the doctors here told me that I should stop covering my head and then the itchiness and hair loss will stop. But the problem is that when I don't cover my head (after kesh ishnaan) it's also itching. I've tried more than 10 different shampoos, creams and other products, spent a lot of money on products so I can get my hair back but it hasn't really helped :(

2 months ago I went to a dermatologist unit at a hospital and they said there's a change in the texture of my scalp and that's why my scalp is itching, not because I'm covering my head like all the other doctors said. They told me to use Nizoral in a higher dose than normally recommended + a steroid cream and there's a little change now. This is why I'm asking for a shampoo without animal ingredients because the only one you can get here contains animal collagen.

I know you probably don't care about the above haha :D

what about massaging almond oil into your scalp at night? or sarron di tayl? moisturizing the scalp might help the itching. also, exposing it to direct sunlight, through an open window, for a period of time each day could help.

I've read/heard many different things about using oil on your scalp when you have dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis. All the doctors I have spoken to said massaging oil on your scalp is like "feeding" the fungus. On the internet I read that oil (coconut oil) is good and can prevent dandruff/seborrhoeic dermatitis.

I've tried using coconut oil but it didn't really help. I bought some almond oil but I haven't tried it yet.

I used to tie my keski right after kesh ishnaan when my hair was still wet and I lost a lot of hair because of that. Now I air dry my hair and it gets sunlight too when I sit in my garden.

If you're willing try wearing a chunni instead of a keski, for a period of time ie one month.

I've never thought it healthy to wear a tight head covering all the time.

No, I'm not going to do that. I don't wear a tight head covering all the day anymore but I used to.
