Bandala (Jalandhar), September 25

Months before the assembly elections, the CPI (M), the CPI and the People’s Party of Punjab today announced that they had forged an alliance.

Leaders of the three parties were in the village to pay tributes to the late Harkishan Singh Surjeet on his death anniversary. They said they would work together to ensure that the “anti-people” forces (Congress and SAD-BJP combine) were routed in the assembly elections.

An announcement on the alliance was made by PPP chief Manpreet Badal and senior Left leader Lehmbar Singh Taggar at a huge gathering. Among those present were CPI (M) Politburo member and former West Bengal minister Mohammed Amin, Dr Joginder Dyal, Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s nephew Abhay Singh Sandhu, Harkishan Singh Surjeet’s widow Pritam Kaur, his son Parmjit Singh, senior CPI (M) leader Charan Singh Virdi and CPI (M) state committee member HS Minhas. Lok Bhalai Party chief Balwant Singh Ramoowalia was also present.

“We will holding a meeting within a week to decide on a minimum common programme. We are not in touch with the Bahujan Samaj Party as of now. We take an oath to put an end to vices like unemployment and drug addiction,” said Manpreet. Referring to the Punjab Chief Minister’s observation that he had committed political suicide by forming a separate outfit, he said: “There are certain things beyond politics. Sometimes, one has to follow one’s conscience.” On the recession in the US, Mohammed Amin said the capitalist forces would see a steep decline worldwide. “The Left is already in power in as many as 12 countries of Latin America.” Dr Joginder Dyal said the corporate culture was playing with the future of crores of people. “The biggest menace is the emergence of the corporate culture. On the one hand the Tatas, Ambanis and Mittals are amassing wealth and on the other a person whose daily earning is barely Rs 27 is being dubbed as ‘rich’. The Badals are forcing farmers to give up their land in Mansa for peanuts.”

Communism is a failure. It destroyed west Bangal's industry. Before 1947 Bangal was the most industrial and it's population was the most educated in all of India, now they are behind everyone else because of communist policies. Manpreet is an idiot for thinking that communists will some how help Punjab and it's economy.
