Sikhism, is a path based on a relation, of only love, faith and devotion towards Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

And this path has been laid down by our beloved Guru Sahibans, to walk through it, with bravery, purity and full courage, so that at the end, we get a glimpse of the most beautiful...Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

ON THE IMPORATNCE OF ABHYAAS

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ

Saahib Maeraa Sadhaa Hai, Dhisai Sabadh Kamaae

Dhan Satgur Sachay Patshah Amar Das Jee,in Raag Gujri, is telling us, that Wahiguru Akal Purukh is ever present, means deathless, beyond time, but He can only be seen or realized, by the sacred practice of Nam Simran or Shabad kamaee.

Let us ask ourselves sincerely, how many of us practice these commandments of our Guru Sahibans?

No matter, if we do thousand other things, but if we fail to follow Gurmat, we shall achieve nothing, but just failure.

Because Gurmat or any religion´s purpose, is to help us and guide us to reach our destination: Akal Purukh.

And as seen in the words of Sree Guru Amar Das, it is only through Nam Simran, or Shabad kee kamaee.

ON DEVOTION

Almost all beings are engaged in some type of devotion. Some devote themselves to the the 5 primal elements, of which, constitutes the whole creation.

Like stones, paper, metals or wood from earth, rivers, tanks, sea, from water element, air, fire ; stars, sun, moon, planets ... in the space element ...

This is a picture of the world engaged in different types of rituals and ceremonies, taken as acts of devotion.

But the fact is, anything made from the 5 elements alone, which are consciousless by themselves, is not permanent, thus perishable.

But the pity is that, human beings, believe that they are actually offering their love and devotion to their deities.

Souls, are of a differnt nature, namely spiritual beings. And whenever, this soul comes and abides in something like a body, it gives life to it, and permeates it, giving it a level of consciousness which that vessel can be capable of witholding it, means make those embodiments in living creatures.

The minimun level of consciousness, is in the last step of the creation in the vegetable kingdom, and the maximum is in the human form, betweem them are three other levels.

After the vegetable kingdom, then comes in the second place, the kingdom of insects. In the third place is the kingdom of those born from eggs: bird kingdom, and in the fourth place, is the kindom of mammals, mostly four legged. So the level of consciousness, in each of these kingdoms depends on the elements active in them.

Vegetable kingdom, has only one elemnt active in them, which is water.

In the insect kingdom, only fire and air are active.

In the birds kingdom, water fire and air are active.

In the mammal kingdom , water, air, fire and earth are active,

And in the top of creation, is the man, who has all the 5 elemets active in him, such as : water, air, earth, fire, and akash or ether, which is responsible for the sense of discrimination in him.

And in this ladder of the creation, our aim is to go even higher and higher, up to Sach Khand. And for this very reason, Wahiguru has given us the human form. It is the most valuable gift, by Him.

Because, this human form is not got so easily, it is the fruit of many many shubh karmas in many lives; but if we do not take the proper advantage of this golden chance, we shall fall from the last step, and fall downwards in any species....and the wheel of births and deaths will go on non stop.

That is why Gurmukhs, advise us to make the best of this human form, and that is to do the bhakti of the real Creator, in order to release ourselves from births and deaths.

And so what is that devotion, or which type of bhakti is that, which frees us from all bondages and washes our ignorance and sins?

Well, the Bani has answers for these concrete questions.

Fifth Patshahee, tells us, it is the Simran of Wahiguru.

That is why He says:

Prabh ka Simran, garbh na vaseh: means, by His Simran, you shall not come into womb again. The Bani does not say, do so many rituals, follow so many rules, practice hardships, or leave your home and family, nor wander like yogis ... but do only one thing.

Practice the meditation, of that primal and eternal One Pure Truth, and so you shall become.

Meditate on lifless things, and you shall become a ghost in your next life ....meditate or give your devotion to, plants, trees, birds and animals, like snakes....you shall fall down to the level of your object of devotion, and become one of them.

It is said: Jaisay dhiaeeyeh, taisa hoeeyeh.

Means, as you dwell or meditate upon, so shall you become.

So meditate only, and that also, on the only Supreme Being, which has the highest level of Consciousness, and you shall reach there and become one with Him.

The main concern of the true Gurmukhs, is not to create any new religion, or any bondages around our necks, like politics, land, mazab, etc .... but their main concern is our souls; and how to unite us with our true Father, Satnam.

These Gurmukhs will be of any place or time, but they will always come with one message, with the message of true love, and true devotion, to the only True One, Akal Purukh, through the bond or relation of Nam Simran.

And as we have to devote ourselves to Him, let us learn from them(Sant Janas, Gurmukhs, Braham Gyanis, Sadhs...), which is that bhakti, which is accepted by Him.

Because bhakti is done for the purpose of pleasing Him. But for that, we must know, what pleases Him the most, or is accepted willingfully by Him.

For that also, our Fifth Patshah Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj says: Prabh ka Simran, dargeh manee.

Means, the Simran of the Lord, is the only devotion which pleases Him, and is thus accepted in His Court.

The teachings of our Gurus, are kept open for all of us. So it is for us, to make a through introspection, and see how much we are real sikhs by following Gurmat, or how much manmukhs are we, by following our own "maanmat", means everything else which is not in the Bani, but created by us in some way or the other.

It os o.k, that we are born in some culture, and in a particular community, and there is nothing wrong in following our customs, as we are also social beings, but not because of that, we stop looking, understanding and practicing the Bani, as per the concrete and direct instructions in it.

Bani is no theory, meant for sadhus, or mahapurukhs only; but rather for each and evey single human being, and that also, for the only purpose of merging in Him, and becoming Him.

We shall not sit beside Him, or with many others, on arriving there .... but we shall become Him, and Him means, He alone.... there where He is, there is no multiplicty or variety.... but only Him, Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Dear brother Sat,

thank you,it makes me inmensely happy, when I see, that by singing His mahima, His Glory...there is somewhere, some soul, which has felt the shower of His grace, by being receptive to it.

We are all His children, and as such, the least we can do, is sing His glory, and thus purify our tongues; our ears by listening His Bani or kirtan; our hands and feet by doing some seva, and mostly our minds, by having Him constantly in our "chit" .

Wah wah Sachay Patshah.

Breathtaking and very touching.

It's amazing how sometimes all the 'Sift Salah' and praise seems to just make me feel closer. And the fact is that ALL I want is this closeness and I am not doing any ardas or asking for any worldly doings like I have most of my life.

I know that we have all been guilty at some time of praising him conditionally, in the sense that we need or ask for something in maya world in return for our praise/devotion.

In this world, when we praise someone, we always expect them to take some steps towards us or at least acknowledge and notice our praises. But when we do sift salah for akaal purakh, we just want to walk closer to him whilst doing this sift salah.

Wahiguru is our paalanhaar, our sustainer, we have heard it many times.

Many a times also we are afraid, that if we give more time and attention to Wahiguru, through His devotion or abhyaas, who will look after our work, our family, our jobs...etc.

For that our doubt and uncomplete faith, Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, assures us that, if we give our heart , mind and body without any reservation to Him, He will not leave us, rather hold us tighter like a mother to its baby child.

Satgur sikh kaa, halat palat savaarai.
The True Guru, arranges this world and the next for His Sikh.

The thing is we profess love and devtion to Wahiguru according to our limited and polluted minds, but according to our Guru Sahibans, when we love somebody we want to please that being, by doing what it likes most....

Wahiguru, is also a jealous lover.

He wants us to give ourselves totally to Him, by surrendering our ego, our bondages, our ignorance....just by only doing what He expects from us, which is to live and love Him according to the Bani.

He does not wants our money, nor properties...nothing, but only our mind and soul, full of humility, love, devotion, and fear of not doing anything, which He could dislike...

One may ask, how can one please beloved Wahiguru?

Because as the Bani says:

mat nirgun ham maylai kabahoon apunee kirpaa Dhaar.
My intellect is worthless; I am filthy and polluted. Please shower me with Your Mercy sometime.

hamray avgun bahut bahut hai baho baar baar har ganat na aavai.
My demerits are so many and numerous. I have sinned so many times, over and over again. O Lord, they cannot be counted.

So if we are already so low and dirty, how come can we love Him, or please Him, just by ourselves?

The answer is, we can never ever do so just by ourselves.

For that we have to join Sadh Sangat, where we get our minds purified, and learn to stay in His mauj.

And so, our Gurus have said, if you want to please Akal Purukh, just follow our words:

nit uth gaavhu parabh kee banee.
Rise early, and sing the Glorious Word of God's Bani.

aath pahar har simrahu paraanee.
Twenty-four hours a day, meditate in remembrance on the Lord, O mortal.

So simple and clear is the way to devote oneself to Wahiguru.

In the Guru Granth Sahib, a very high Bhagat´s Bani is included. If we pay attention to it carefully, it lays stress on Nam Bhakti, just as our Guru Sahibans, that is why Sree Guru Arjun Dev Patshah inclued it in the Granth Sahib.

Following is just an example, of His such a pure paviter Bani:

Mera tera manua, kaise ek hoi re.
Main kahata hu aankhin dekhi, t ukahata kaagad ki lekhi,
Mein kahata surajhavanhaari, tu rakhyo arujhaai re.
Main kahata tu jaagat rahiyo, tu rahata hai soi re.
Mein kahata nirmohi rahiyo, tu jata hai mohi re.
Jugan – jugan samjhaavat haara, kaha na maane koi re.
Tu to ranDi, phire bihanDi, sab dhan Daare khoi re.
Satguru dhara niramal bahati, wame kaaya dhoi re.
Kahe Kabir suno bhai sadho, tabhi waisa hoi re.

How can my mind(understanding) and yours be alike? I speak out of my own experience, things I have seen with my own eyes and you speak from the written books ( you have not known them).

I speak to make it simpler and you make it more complicated and confusing(because you yourself are not clear about it).

I tell you to keep awake(aware in your consciousness) and you go on sleeping(again and again in your consciousness).

I tell you to remain detached and you get more allured.

I keep trying to explain it for eons but no one listens to me.

You have become like a prostitute( who gets attached to anyone providing money) and wander like a loafer, you have lost your treasure(spiritual wealth) in behaving this way.

Kabir says - listen to me, the pure current of Satguru's grace(Anhad Bani) flows all the time, wash your mind in it, and you will also become pure like him.

Sant, purus ki aarasee, santon kee hee deh.

Lakha jo chahe alakh ko, unhi me lakh je leh.

Saints, Gurmukhs, are like mirrors, you can see the invisible(Nirankar) through their body.

They are clean in mind, body and soul, and the invisible(Wahiguru Akal Purukh) reflects in them.

Bani Sree Kabir Sahib.

Following is a beautifull poem of Kabir , where He describes us, how to play the game of love, with beloved Satnam.

Satguru ho mahaaraj, mope saai rang Daara.

Shabad ki choT lagi mere man me, bedh gaya tan saara.

Aushadh mool, kachhu nahi laage, kya kare baid bichaara.

Sur nar munijan, peer auliyaa, koi na paawe paara.

Sahib Kabir sarb rang rangiya, san rang se rang nyaara.

Kabir found his Guru and followed his way of meditation upon Sound(Shabad).

He heard that amazing sound and now is unable to focus on anything else.

So sweet is the melody!! He says – O dear Satguru, HE is playing with me with the colors of Sound.

He throws colors upon me, when he plays the music!!

The wound of the Shabd hurts my mind, and it is slowly spreading all over my body. Now no medicine seems to cure me, no Doctor has the remedy of this wound.

All holy people are trying to know the secret of it, but even they couldn’t get the resolution.

Kabir says his Sahib is the greatest, he has colored me with all colors yet he is beyond of all colors.

This way, Kabir got the wound of Love with the grace of the Guru, and kept searching for the medicine, which couldn’t be anything less than absolute Love of GOD !!

Raag Ramkalee, Bani Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj jee: something upon and Nam

tayrai kaaj na garihu raaj maal.

Your home, power and wealth will be of no use to you.

tayrai kaaj na bikhai janjaal

Your corrupt worldly entanglements will be of no use to you

isat meet jaan sabh chhalai

Know that all your dear friends are fake

har har naam sang tayrai chalai

Only the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, will go along with you.

naam binaa sabh jhooth paraanee.

Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, everything is false, O mortal

govid bhajan bin avar sang raatay tay sabh maa-i-aa mooth paraanee.

Those who do not vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, but instead are imbued with other things, - all those mortals are plundered by Maya

tirath naa-ay na utras mail

Bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, filth is not washed off

karam Dharam sabh ha-umai fail.

Religious rituals are all just egotistical displays

naam bihoonay chalsahi ro-ay

Without the Naam, they shall depart weeping....

The verses of this Raag Ramkalee, of our beloved Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj are much more than these above, but the nutshell of Gurmat is contained in them.

Though the Bani is quite clear, let us pause and have a look at it, and admire its beauty, and taste the amrit contained in it.

First of all, He is telling us, that all of which we are so proud, like land, dharam, mazab, possesions,,. etc, are all fake, all are perishable, there is no reality in them, they are the expresssion of our "haume", our ego.

We waste all our lives by running after them, to fullfil our desires, our illusions ....but then, everything we foolishly took for real, is left back here...even we fought and gave our lives for that purpose....but all was in vain, silly we, moorakhs we.

All our relations, family members, all our friends, our attachments with them, or with our land, with our traditions, our rituals, of which we are so proud...all of them are temporary , all were karmic adjustments, but we took them for real and lost out of our sight, the purpose for which we got this human birth, which was for love and devotion alone, at Wahiguru´s Lotus Feet....alas nothing of this we did...and empty handed we shall go from here

Our Guru Sahibans, in the Bani have stated as seen above, Nam is the only eternal Truth, and we should devote ourselves to it by meditating upon it...that is all that our Guru Sahibans have asked us to do. Because in the end, only our "kamaee" of Nam shall go with us.

But we, not taking their words in consideration, rather turned out to be "manmukhs"

How or why?

Well, instead to engage in the real devotion they asked and advised us, of Nam Simran; we put into action our "maanmat"...by bathing at so called holy waters, by doing poojas, paaths, ceremonies, rituals, rites ,,,etc, etc and etc.

And by doing all these outer activities, the result is, that we have driven ourselves far away, from that primal Truth, namely Akal Purukh.

And so in the end, when our time comes to depart from this world, we shall cry bitterly and shout...why did I not pay attention to what Guru Sahbans have stressed in each Ang of the Granth Sahib, which is Nam Bhakti....

The time factor is the wealth we have brought with us, which is known also as "swaassa dee poonjee", so it is up to us, to use that wealth and purchase pearls and diamonds, as time invested in Nam Simran...or that very wealth of time, wasted away after our maanmat methods mentioned above, in getting stones.

Then too, we blame Wahiguru, for giving us pain and suffering, when the fact is, we are the manufacturers of all our miseries...

Who is then to be blamed?

Surely not Wahiguru, but we moorakhs and agyanis..

The Bani says: Jis vakhar ko laen toon ayaa, Ram Nam, Santan Ghar paaya.

Means, the wealth to gather(Prabh ka Simran) for which you have come into this world; the secret to be successful in it, is got in the Sadh Kee Sangat.

Let us all read and listen the pure paviter Bani with full attention, and try to put into practice in our lives, so that we may derive the maximum profit from it, which is nothing else than merging in Him, and becoming one with Him.

Sachay Patshah, hum moorakh, toon chaturay siaaneh.

Mere reading and memorizing the Bani will avail nothing,

as long as the teachings are not translated into action.

Make the Bani the rule of your life,

otherwise that what you read, hear and understand, will be useless.

The purpose of the Bani is not reciting,

but to understand it

and put into action.

Then only, Amrit will flow from within,

and solve all our ups and downs,

and fill us with bliss, love and devotion.

Raag Maajh, Bani Sree Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj

ਗਲੀ ਭਿਸਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਛੁਟੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇ

Galee Bhisath N Jaaeeai Shhuttai Sach Kamaae

गली भिसति न जाईऐ छुटै सचु कमाइ

By mere talk, people do not earn passage to Heaven. Salvation comes only from the practice of Truth.

In these upper lines, Sachay Patshah Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj, is telling us that, just by talking about Wahiguru...even reciting, one does not earn merits to enter in the Heaven, but that, salvation, redemption, freedom of the soul from the cycle of births and deaths, comes only by practicing the Truth.

But what is practicing that Truth?

That Truth is Nam , is Shabad.

So practicing that Truth, is, doing its Simran.

And so, how should that be done?

Well, the Bani says: Saas saas, simroh Gobind.

Means, do its Simran with each breath, so that you get filled up with that primal Truth, and the consequence of this blessed practice,is that, gradually, the filth from our within is pushed out, and it is replaced by the Truth...then our "rom rom", our whole self, is filled with Nam and Anhad Shabad.

This is the only holy purpose of sikhee, to become, to make us, one with Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Something on the necessity of Sadh Kee Sangat...

Most of us say that, I do not need any Gurmukh´s company, because I by myself I am self suficient, I know what is sikhee, I follow some rules, some comandments of my dharam...so I am o.k with it .....Gurmukhs, Sadh Janas are not so necessary at all.

But the fact is, the very Guru Granth Sahib also tells us that:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਖੋਟਿਅਹੁ ਖਰੇ ਕਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ

Sathigur Khottiahu Kharae Karae Sabadh Savaaranehaar

सतिगुरु खोटिअहु खरे करे सबदि सवारणहारु

The True Guru converts the counterfeit into genuine; through the Word of the Shabad, He embellishes and exalts us.

Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj, is also reminding us, that we are born sinners, as we carry the heavy load on our heads of countless births...we are fake...we are without any merits. But, when we come into the Sadh Sangat, we get the touch(grace, daya meher) of the "paaras"...the philosopher´s stone ....the Gurmukh.... that from rusted iron pieces, we are turned not into gold, but we become "paaras" itself.

Such is the mahanta of these Gurmukhs. There maybe 1 such Gurmukh, or at most 2, between billions of living beings...their status is much much higher then gods, godesses, prophets, avatars....etc.

Because as the bani says: Aapeh Satgur, aapeh Har, aapeh mel milaveh...

But then, not all are ready to accept these truths....only the wadbhagee jeevas will do so; that also not because of anything else, but because of His "Mauj"; for that also the Bani says: Se simraeh, jisnoo Aap simrae ....

The Bani of our Guru Sahibans is perfect and clear, from any angle or point of view. And that has to be so,because, these Guru Sahibans, these Gurmukhs, are one with Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Importance of human life

ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ

Kalijug Beej Beejae Bin Naavai Sabh Laahaa Mool Gavaaeiaa

कलिजुगि बीजु बीजे बिनु नावै सभु लाहा मूलु गवाइआ

In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, if one plants any other seed than the Name, all profit and capital is lost.

In the above line of Dhan Guru Ram Das Maharaj, in Raag Aasa, He is is telling us, that, if we engage ourselves in anything apart from the holy practice of Nam Simran, do whatever we may, we shall not come out of the creaton, rather remain here in the endless cycle of births and deaths ...as we have lost the golden opportunity of human birth(profit), got as per the fruits of countless good karmas(capital)in countless births...

ON NAM´S SUPREME IMPORTANCE

ਨਾਮੋ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ

Naamo Saev Naamo Aaraadhhai Bin Naamai Avar N Koe Jeeo

नामो सेवि नामो आराधै बिनु नामै अवरु न कोइ जीउ

I serve the Naam, and I meditate on the Naam. Without the Naam, there is no other at all.

Raag Asa Guru Ram Das

Here, Satguru Ram Das Maharaj, is telling us something in a nutshell about the essence of Gurmat.

He is telling us, that He serves the Nam, means He does not devote Himself to any other Power than Nam or Shabad, and meditates, or does abhyaas of Nam, as it is the only thing valid(nirmal karam) as per terms of love and devotion for the Lotus Feet of Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

No other practices, jap, tap, nor rituals, etc ..... only one thing, Nam Simran

Thank you, Harsharanji for the posting of the beautiful shabads and their meaning thereto. Regarding the above shabads just to clarify, "nit uth gaavhu prabh kee banee" as you mention the meaning "... word of God's bani" is it equivalent to nitnem bani, the early morning prayers as ordained by our Guruji Maharaj and then followup with the simraan. Thus am I right to say that one must do the nitnam bani first before one does the simraan. Please clarify. Thank you. Darshan.

Dear Darshan Jee,

about your question,I can only give you my personal opinion.

It is not a hard and a fast rule, but as I said it is my humble sincere opinion. Many a times, to understand the Bani in the correct view, we have to see the references made at other places also, about the topic we are interested in

The term Bani has 2 meanings, one is the written one, which are the teachings of the bhagats, the Sadh Janas, the Sant Jans, or our very Guru Sahibans.

This type of Bani is known as Varnatmik Bani, which can be read and written in any language..

And usually, this Bani, is all about the Glory, the wadeeayee, of Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

The second type of Bani is known as Dhunatmik Bani. Which can not be spoken nor written in any language.

This Bani or Shabad has created the countless creations(Khands, Brahmands, etc)... and has created everything...there is nothing seen or unseen, which has not been created by this Power.

This Dhunatmik Bani, is also known as, Anhad Bani, Shabad, Shabad Dhun, Amrit Bani, or Nam, which is the Supreme Consciouss, all bliss, all powerful, omnipresent, and this power or Bani is within each one of us. We owe our very life to the presence of this power within each one of us. So in order to realize the presence of this Bani within us, we have to only use the key of Nam Simran. That is why the Bani in Anand Sahib says: Nam jinke man vaseeya, vajeh Shabad ganere. Means, by doing Nam Simran, one´s mind gets stilled, the muddy waters(thoughts, mind) get pacified and clearity is the result. So with this clearity, we can hear the Divine Melody, of Wahiguru, of Nam or Shabad within us...It is by listening to this bani, that our weaknesses, our sins are burnt, like tons of dry grass with a single spark...there is no other way.....

Whatever spiritual activity we do, is to first get purified....and thus Nam Simran, is the only medicine, the only presciption for that purpose

We can say, this power, this Bani, is like a inmense Sun, and the souls are rays, which have emanated, which have emerged from that Sun.

Once Wahiguru withdraws, this Shabad Dhun from any thing or place, we say it has died, in case of living beings, or Parlay or Mahaparlay takes place, in case of the universes ....

So, as far as I also know, the Bani also says: Prabh ka Simran, Har Gun Bani. This means, even doing His Simran, is as good as singing His Glory or reading the Varnatmik Bani.

And about this Bani´s Simran, the Bani says: Saas saas simroh Gobind or aath pahar har simrahu paraanee, which means Simran at no specific times, but at all times ...

Because, it is the Simran of Nam alone, which as a vessel, takes us from this shore of mayavee Bhavsagar to that side of the shore which is Sach Khand, the goal of any soul, the house of our true Father, Satnam.

That is why the Bani says: Nanak , Nam, jahaz hae

The missuse of the this term Bani in one way or the other, creates confussions in the understanding of the people.

Dear brother Darshan Jee, please forgive me, if by the explanation of my point of view, I have hurted you in any manner, but if I am asked by anyone on these issues, this is always going to be my answer.

I do not respond to hurt or please anyone, but to be truthful to the teachings as far as possible, without any manipulations.

No two persons are on a same spiritual level, so one may differ with others....it is just time needed to grow.......but one should always speak the truth in a simple and a logic way.

Nam Simran versus other practices

The main difference between, reading or reciting the Bani and Nam Simran, is as just as follows:

By reciting the Bani, we sing His Glry, His beant wadeeayee....means we talk about Him.

This has a purpose to fulfill also, which is to get us drenched with His infinite virtues, which makes us humble, and draws the picture of our reality, that we are nothing, and at the same time His picture, which is that, He is the only reality and Truth, there is none as Him, neither in Power, neither in Wisdom nor in Beauty.

On the other side, Nam Simran, is just as, being in front of Him and telling Him:

Dear Saachay Patshah I love You, I love You alone.

This is the Mahanta of Nam Simran, it takes us in the presence of our Beloved, our Pyare Preetam Wahiguru, and while being in His proximity, He blesses us with His love, which emanates from Him, just as waves from the sea, which wash all our impurities, and makes us fit in purity to merge in Him, the purest.

The relation between a soul and the Lord Akal Purukh, is a one based on selfess love, in which His Simran plays a very important role in the union of the both, because it is the vehicle sent by the bridegroom(Wahiguru), to bring back to Him, His bride (soul).
