Nidar Singh And His Cult Banned From Cranford Community School

Recommended Posts

It's good to see people are finally aware of this low character and his brainwashed cult followers.

He is getting banned from every where. His followers are blind to the fact that they are being used by him to build a platform and to pay for his expenses. Typical of a cult.

His site says that he is trying to preserve a tradition but he has done more bad than good for it. No body can be blamed for their dislike of this person. He has caused all the animosity towards him, by himself and his cult followers.

What do you personally dislike about him?

His points about British Protestant/christian influences on Sikh thought under colonialism are valid.

He doesn't put them across well, and uses provocative/inflammatory language. I'm begining to suspect this is done purposefully to provoke and keep relevant.

I've only met one of his 'followers' and he seemed like a lost sheep. What have your experiences been?

What are they cheating at?

They claim they are using money that they gain from the public for books and projects but it pays their wages. Why should he be funded and supported by hard working people, why can he not get a job?

I honestly don't get this.

Why see him any different from other martial arts instructors - like Karate or Kung Fu trainers who charge their students to teach them?

I can't see how anyone can complain about THAT? Maybe being a martial arts teacher is his job, or he wants to spend his life doing the thing he loves and making it financially support him whilst doing it. Like say an artist who draws religious art and sells it to make a living. Plus people join classes of their own volition - they choose to go.

I don't get it?

I tell you what: given the piss poor physical state of many Sikhs today, I think ANY thing that gets Sikh men off their arses and training is brilliant. I mean look how weak we've become. People are blatantly abusing Sikh girls under our noses, without fear, because we've become so physically weak. I can't see how you can complain about someone training Sikhs. We need more of this - not less.

Where have I complained about him 'training Sikhs?'

I'm commenting on his hypocrisy and lies. He claims this is the art of our Gurus, so does it make sense for him to preach fanatical ideologies against other groups then? That's the 'Gurus tradition' is it?

He mentioned that the art shouldn't be sold, he charges so much money for the camps, is that not selling the art? I mean, the Namdhari Gurughar doesn't charge for the usage of their halls, I know this because I know them personally.

Anyhow, there's no way to prove what he is teaching is legit. Many, many trained experts have said it's a mix and match of other arts!

Like I said before, I think some of his points are important, and ones that A LOT of apnay like to ignore. I just think he does serve a purpose, which is to force attention on Sikh beliefs and behaviour pre and post annexation. I don't like how he does it, it's like he is purposefully trying to antagonise people. But that being said, even if he put it across diplomatically - what he is saying goes against today's practice of Sikhi that he would have been vilified anyway.

I don't know, if there is a market for what he does, then it doesn't surprise me that he fills it and makes a living off it. If people are willing to pay big money like you claim, then it says a lot about the interest in what he teaches. But yes, he should quit saying 'the art shouldn't be sold', if he is selling it. Maybe he needs the money now? It's a recession man!

Anyhow, there's no way to prove what he is teaching is legit. Many, many trained experts have said it's a mix and match of other arts!

Personally, I don't care. If it gets Sikhs training, I'm all for it.

Plus that thing you are complaining about. I've personally seen other prominent 'gatka' teachers do EXACTLY the same thing. Mixing in Wing Chun and whatnot in.

I think they are all (or most of them) at it, and they all (either explicitly or implicitly) imply that the art is from the Guru's time. So it's like marketing.

In terms of martial arts, mixing the best of different schools/styles is a brilliant idea. It was the basis of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. All arts develop and add remove elements over time. It is what keeps them fresh.

As for people going to his classes, they should stop being naive and face the fact that what they are getting (hopefully!) is a good workout with a hybrid martial arts form with Indian elements as well as other influences, given by a outspoken and controversial instructor. Simple as.

The problem lies when he makes claims that this is the 'legacy of Guru Nanak' but then vilifies people, spreads malicious ideologies, promotes sex outside of marriage, drugs, alcohol, has rapists as students.

It isn't just a class to learn fighting as he claims its Sikh maryada which makes it far more than just fighting.

A year ago I attended seminars in Birmingham. All they were busy doing was vilifying a guy that used to train there but now suffers from schizophrenia and another who apparently went to an airport mentioning a bomb.

I highly doubt the gurus were full of pride, arrogance and malice.

My point is you are overreacting. Having students who are alcoholics or addicts like that isn't a bad thing. Somebody needs to give them a community. Everybody needs a community to blossom.

You've indicated that these students are out-castes in your society by the way you talk about them. Maybe you should reconsider your own perspective on life. Why do you feel they are out-caste or lower caste? And why do you feel the need to deny them a community?

Bhagatsingh where has anybody mentioned they're outcasts? So It's ok for a martial artist to have intoxicated fools waving swords around? I think not

Secondly, Surjit is the one that has preached having moralistiic students with intelligence which I doubt drug fuelled individuals will possess.

He has done more bad than good for this tradition.

Dude you just out-casted alcoholics with that comment.

Why can't a teacher accept an alcoholic as a student if he wants to?

You are suggesting that he shouldn't. You are suggesting that he shouldn't be giving homeless, or drug addicts a community, a home or guidance.

Therefore you are suggesting that he out-caste such people.

Bhagatsingh. Didn't realise Surjit was a drug rehabilitator lol

It seems you don't realize a lot of things. Perhaps you should look inwardly and work on that?

I am struggling to think of one Sikh preacher/katha vachak from the modern era (going back to late 1970s) who does not indulge in preaching "fanatical ideologies" or vilifying others.

Please help me in identifying such pracharks/katha vachaks who focus ONLY on spreading Gurbani.

There are plenty, there is ancient saying- if you going to look for hate and fascism you will find hate and fascism. Mind is powerful thing.

Yeah there are plenty of katha vachaks that you would enjoy listening to Sher. But your mind is too busy with other matters that you don't notice these types.

And in some cases you over emphasize what they have said in the past, where that kathavachak may not even consider it relevent today or may not even believe it anymore e.g. Sant Maskeen.
