Gyani jee explains in the video below, the definition of a Sehajdhari Sikh.

A person, who is born in a Sikh family and does not take Khanday da amrit, cannot be classified as a Sehajdhari Sikh.

Amritdhari : one who took Khandi di Pahul and keeps full outer Rehat (kakaars)/

Sahejdhari: a person who belongs to no other faith and has full faith in only the Sikh Gurus and Gurbani. Adherance to outer rehat is recommended altough not compulsory.

Patit: amritdhari who breaks rehat.

Examples of Sehajdhari Sikhs - Bhai Rai Bulaar jee, Hazrat Mian Mir jee, Shaheed Moti Mehra jee, Nabi Khan jee, Gani Khan jee, Bhai Todar Mall jee, etc

People born in Sikh families and who are monay, rhoday, sharabi, kababi, anachari, etc= Patits = non-Sikhs

I agree with gyani kulwant singh ji understanding on this subject on one hand but this issue needs to be look at in its totality with perspective of parchar. If we keep coining  in mainstream that people born in sikh families who are money, rhoday, kababi, anchari are patits or non sikhs then we likely will fail to bridge them we may even inadvertently demonize them so best thing to do is avoid all these labelling, do parchand gyan parchar of gurbani as many sants have done without labelling which has automatically quite naturally, spontaneously bought many non sikhs into sikhi fold so no really need for labelling.

But if one really wants to do this type of labelling not in a contextual sense(question and answer) as gyani ji has done but one use it arrogantly self righteously demonize them than same argument can be made against whole label definition of khalsa as sarbloh granth defines khalsa as - atamgyani (self realized enlightened soul) so amritdhari who is not self realized  yet does not have any right to use term khalsa with themselves. So its not quite black and white.

To drink the Ambrosial Nectar of the Khanda (Amrit) is the primary instruction for the Sikh. He who abandons all other initiations is truly a great Sikh.

No khanday da amrit = no Sikhi = non-Sikh

How are they patit when they never took amrit , what if they convert to other religion and then again start following sikhism, will they be considered as sehajdhari. On one hand people say that sikhi is by birth on other hand they believe that 100% children born in sikh families to follow rehat

A person is not born a Sikh, he becomes a Sikh.

To become a Sikh, the mandatory requirement is to take Khanday da amrit.

Good point, but I think no one has demonized anyone in this topic.

If one wants to become a Sikh, then one has to take Khanday da amrit. There is no other option available. It's pretty black and white in this case.

After taking amrit, the true test begins.

Simple example - Admission in a university does not guarantee a degree, but it is needed to get a degree.

Sangat jee, the option is yours - follow a great scholar like Gyani Kulwant Singh jee or a Gurmukh Nindak like Sikhkhoj.

How are they patit when they never took amrit ,

Bro, Gyani jee explained that in the video above. Some people put amrit in the mouth of new born babies, which is similar to getting baptized. Therefore, if that baby commits any of the four cardinal sins later in his/her life, then he/she is a patit. Obviously, it does not apply to people who did not drink that amrit.

There is a way out of it. Don't put amrit in the mouth of new born babies. No one is forcing them to become Sikhs. Sikh practices and traditions are not a joke.

You're showing your ignorance once again.

* A child is given Kirpan Da Amrit not Khande Da. Since a child does not choose it himself, he is not to blame for eventual errors. This in contradiction with Khande Di Pahul which is only taken when one is ready, every mistake or kurehat you do is counted and you're declared patit if you break Rehat.

* Secondly, Sevapanthi chiefs have always been sahejdharis. You can check their names from Bhai Kanhaiya onwards. They never became 'amritdhari'.

* Sant Gurbakh Daas was the head priest of KesGarh during the early 1700s (source: Mahan Kosh).

* Many other sahejdhari sikhs led congregations according to the remnant Hukamnmas of the Guru.

* Even Sau Sakhi says there are 3 type of Sikhs: khand, charan (non existent after 1708) and sahejdhari.

You're modern Singh Sabhia black white interpretation which infects people like Kulwant Singh too

I have backed up my every claim by quotes & sources. Come back with historical proofs and don't quote Desa Singh Rehatnama because I am sure people like you drink sharab and then quote Desa Singh Rehat.

Both the amrits are prepared by reading Gurbani. The point is, if a person commits bajjar kurehits, then why do they claim that they are Sikhs? There are monay out there, who are claiming that they are Sikhs, but they are not. How can one classify a monay as a Sikh? Kesh is the root of Sikhi.

Who is denying that Sehajdhari Sikhs exist? People need to understand the definition of a Sehajdhari Sikh.

90-95% Punjab sikh cut/ trim hair. If sikhism believe that they are not sikhs then why do Sikh care lot about Punjab,. Let these monay follow Ram rahim , Radhaswami or convert to christianity or any other faith. Why amritdhari leader of sikh panth care about them ,just accept that Punjab is non sikh state like other states of India

Our Satgurus spent a lot of their time in Punjab. That is why, Punjab is very dear to us.

Even if, today we had undivided Punjab (majority Muslim population), it would still be very dear to us; like Saudi Arabia is, to Muslims.

  • 4 weeks later...

A person, who is born in a Sikh family and does not consume khanday da amrit or any other form of initiation, will be classified as a Nigura.

Nigura is looked down upon in Gurbani.

Without the True Guru, there is no Guru at all; one who is without a Guru has a bad reputation. ||13||

ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਕਉ ਗਤਿ ਕਾਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

There is no salvation for those who have no Guru.

ਅਵਗਣਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਹੀ ॥੩

Beguiled by worthless sins, they are struck down. ||3||

ਸੋ ਨਿਗੁਰਾ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨

One who has no Guru, dies over and over again, only to be re-born. One who has no Guru continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||2||
