Holi/Lohri in Sikhism

Recommended Posts

Both these festivals, Holi and Lohri are related to Brahamgyani Bhagat Prahlad jee Maharaaj. Therefore, they are related to Sikhism.

Lohri was the day, when Hollika (sister of demon Harnakash) sat in the fire with Bhagat Prahlad jee. On this day itself, Bhagat jee was saved by Waheguru jee.

Holi was the day, when Hollika finally died, after burning for many days.

Please listen below to Srimaan 108 Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh jee Khalsa Bhindrawale.

Lohri is celebrated  on 13 of Jan each year While Holi is celebrated according to Lunar calendar

Any other source, other than wikipedia?

Did you listen to Sant jee (one of the greatest Sikh scholars) in the op?

Even Visakhi is celebrated on the 13th or 14th of each year.

Daas found a source which states that Lohri and Holika were sisters. Either way, Lohri is connected to Srimaan Bhagat Baba Prahlad jee.

Quote

Lohri and Holika were two sisters. Harnakash ordered Holika to take Prahalad in her lap and sit in the fire with Lohri. Holika vanishes into fire, but Prahalad and Lohri survived.
