GHANI KHAN and his brother Nabi Khan, Pathan horse dealers of Machhivara in present day Ludhiana district of the Punjab, were admirers of Guru Gobind Singh whom they had visited at Anandpur and to whom they had sold many good animals. When they learnt that, travelling in a lonely state after the battle of Chamkaur (1705), the Guru had come to Machhivara, they at once turned out to meet him and offered their services. They provided him with a blue coloured dress and carried him out of Machhivara in a palanquin disguised as a Muslim divine. They declared him to be Uchch da Pir, the holy man of Uchch, an old seat of Muslim saints in south-west Punjab.
They escorted him thus up to Hehrari, a village near Raikot in Ludhiana district, where a group of Sikhs relieved them. The Guru dismissed Ghani Khan and Nabi Khan with his blessings and a hukamnama meant to be a letter of commendation which was reverently preserved by their descendants. The family migrated to Pakistan in 1947. Their house in Machhivara is now a gurudwara known as Gurdwara Uchch da Pir.

Looks like the start is ""ਲਿਖੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ "

and the Date is Samvat 1755 which is about 1698? When did Guru ji abolish the masand system? it was before historic Vaisakhi wasn't it?

Where?

Yeah, I think they were dealing with the masands before Vasaikhi but hit them with the total ban on that day in the proto-rehat given during Amrit.

Where what?

Where does it say:

This is obviously a requisition by Guru ji for funds for war, and an instruction to send the funds directly so the masands couldn't pilfer it.

This line might go:

I think is code for an urgent situation that requires swift action i.e. send the collected daswands immediately upon viewing this hukam-nama.

This is what the faded writing looks like to me.

Where is this on the hukam-nama bro?

It probably says Siri instead of likhi. In Ganda singhs collection of hukamname most of them begin with Siri Guru jio Di aageya hai.

I used to have an ecopy of this book years ago but lost most of my ebooks on laptops that either broke or when moving around.

Anyone have a copy of this, stick it about for research guys. And maybe Shamsher Singh Ashok's work on hukam-namas too. Looked on sikhbookclub for Ganda Singh's book but couldn't find it.

I think I got some of the last line:

Got that last line. Ganda Singh's book helped:

ਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਹੁੜੀ ਕਰੈ ਗਾ - is quite common in hukamnamas apparently.

MK has this for ਬਾਹੁੜੀ:

Mahan Kosh Encyclopedia

Is this hukam-nama real? Because looking at Ganda SIngh's book, Guru ji's hukams seem to have his nishaan at the beginning. I don't see this on this one?
