Sri Charitropakhyan Sahib jee Series - Charitar #59

The two wives in this tale could possibly represent the two wives of the king, Chitar Singh.

ਸੁਹਾਗਮ ਦੇਈ - means a faithful woman, which can point to the first wife (the fairy) of the king. There is no indication that she cheated on the king, during his stay as his wife. She is also the mother of Hanwant Singh, so she bore a child to the king too. From this, one can safely conclude that she was a faithful wife.

ਲਾਡਮ* ਕੁਅਰਿ - which possibly means "princess of attachment". This can refer to Chitar Mati, as the king is completely attached to her.

*ਲਾਡ can mean attachment (ਮੋਹ).

Maybe the wise minster is trying to say that as the robber was caught by the two ladies and his life was ruined; the same way you have been caught up in between these two women and are about to ruin your life by killing your own son.

The thief must have been a physically weak guy. Two ladies were able to apprehend him and hand him over to the police.

Maybe the wise minster is trying to tell the king that as the thief was weak, so are you.

This can be interpreted in two possible ways:

  • Physically weak to sexually satisfy Chitar Mati, which resulted in her move towards the younger Hanwant Singh
  • Intellectually weak to be able to understand what Chitar Mati is doing.
