In Sikhism, to view the [sargun] form of Akal Purkh you can look towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as well as Saints. Like this to the [sargun] form of Bhagvati [Devi/Chandi] for one to view weapons [shastar and astar].

He's Amritdhari, it needs to get done. Just tried calling the SGPC but their phones aren't working. Will try email, if people know other organizations then do so.

Many of the Sikh politicians are selling out Guru Sahib in this form, or attempting to do so by supporting these measures.

Do we care what non Sikh want or what Guru Sahib ordered?

The Mughals obviously wanted to continue their Caliphate.

Sikhs obviously follow Monarchy but it's obvious this forum is full of liberals, Protestants in the disguise of Sikhs who will argue for arms control, cow slaughter, secularism, divorce rights.

Guru Sahib has made men such as this cowards though।।ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖਾਲਸਾ।।ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫਤਿਹ।।

Do you want handguns and rifles to fall into the hands of criminals, racists, terrorists, robbers, psychopaths, pedophiles, rapists, etc?

They will fall in to the hands of criminals regardless of whether they are banned or not.

But whether or not they fall into the hands of good, law-abiding people, that is the question.

If you ban guns, good people will not have access to them.

And if good people cannot get access to them, they cannot protect themselves from the criminals who will have them... and from the government who will also have them.

Remember when you prevent the people of a nation, from getting access to guns, while simultaneously giving government access to guns, all you are doing is making the government stronger.

If the government decides to abuse that power, if it turns tyrannical and oppresses its people, then the people stand no chance against it.

When this happened to the Sikh community back in 1600s, when the government tortured Guru Arjun Dev ji, even though he was innocent, then Guru Hari Gobind ji relied on weapons to fight the government.

So a Sikh asking for weapons to be banned does not know his own history.

Why shouldn't canada be a Sikh theocracy?

How can Canada become a Sikh theocracy? Why would 98% of the population vote for a Sikh theocracy?

Daas will be happy, if Canada becomes a Sikh theocracy, but it is close to impossible (until a divine miracle takes place).

Jagmeet is a Canadian leader/politician. He has to think like a Canadian. He has to uphold and promote Canadian law. He also has to come up with ideas that majority of the Canadians will prefer.

Death sentence is an integral part of Sikhism, but it isn't a part of Canadian law. Do you want Jagmeet to support it? He will probably end his political career if he supports it.

What does any of this have to do with my post?

Daas loves Shastars (old or modern), but I am against Shastars falling into the wrong hands. I live in Canada (not in a Sikh theocracy). We are a tiny "visible" minority in Canada. If weapons are legalized, it possibly means, more racists (even closet ones) having access to weapons. Our numbers are too low in Canada (and other western nations) to support legalization of weapons.

If they fall into the hands of violent white supremacists, then the possibilities of hate crimes on Sikhs increase. Then, we have the threat of violent radical Muslims too. You yourself mentioned that vast majority of Punjabi parents don't let their children to get armed and trained. If this is true, it is even more crucial for us to strongly support the ban of weapons in western countries. We have to be realistic and think about the welfare of our people. Some people confuse us (Amritdhari Sikhs) for radical Muslims. Don't forget that.

Will our community loose or gain more by legalization of weapons? IMHO, we will loose more.

From a personal perspective, if Daas was living in US (states where firearms are legal), I would purchase many weapons (for self-defense and protection of the needy), but I don't support legalization of weapons in Canada.

If Rehatvaan Gurmukhs were a majority in any country (or even if we had something like Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Raaj), then obviously, I would prefer that weapons be legalized in that particular country.

Paaji, carrying weapons comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility. Do you think all white men (majority in Canada and other western nations) are spiritually/intellectually developed enough to use weapons in a just manner?

This topic is about weapons ban in a predominantly white country (Canada), not in a Sikh theocracy or a Sikh majority state.

But, you cannot deny the fact that we can greatly reduce the number of criminals having access to weapons, by banning them.

Where do you think, it is easier for a criminal/psychopath to acquire firearms (and then go on a killing spree)? US or Canada?

Then you have weapons to protect yourselves from them.

Besides you can do other stuff with them. Like teach other apnay from  other countries how to use them (legally of course and making sure any terrorist type is weedled out).

That’s a rather weird way of summarising our views.

I think after all the words - that's what it really boils down to.
