  1. Not even close! The closest thing is reading Gurbani, or dharmic Granths, reading the lives of Mahapurkhs etc. But at my low avastha, real, live sangat has no substitute.
  2. It just happens, you have to do it with your surti though, not out loud. It involves controlling your thoughts, so all your mind is focused on the Paath. You're 'thinking' Jap Ji Sahib rather than reciting it. When you see "Ik Oankaar", the mind completes the first paurri etc. With more practice, it will complete the whole ang, then the whole Paath. It takes a lot more concentration and love for Gurbani than reading out slowly, which is why it takes time to develop.
  3. I now live in a remote place with no Sangat, poor internet etc. I only get darshan of Sangat every 6 months or so. What I've found is that going into Sangat, doing seva etc gives the spirit a huge boost. It's literally cleansing. I leave full of motivation, Chardi Kala, ready for anything! Over time, immersed in the world, this feeling wanes, until I get back to Sangat. Dhan Guru Di Sangat!
  4. I'd rather go with Sant Kartar Singh Ji than McLeod. It's ludicrous to think that Khande Batte da Amrit was not administered to women.
  5. They are confused about certain things though. It's best to get a thorough understanding of Gurbani before following what these guys say.
  6. Blue Star and Black thunder were completely different scenarios. Ask yourself why the army didn't let ordinary pilgrims leave during Blue Star? Who attacked whom? Read testimonies from eye witnesses, books by Joyce Pettigrew, Cynthia Mahmood, A.R. Darshi to find out what really happened.
  7. This thread is from 2009! Anyway, men and women are equal but different.
  8. He stayed with a friend of mine once, in the UK a few years ago. According to my friend, he was always up early, doing loads of paath etc ad not talking of anything but Gurbani. Hard to tell what the truth is here, and what her motivation is for going public now. Why not charge him for harassment? He was in the UK a few weeks ago, did katha without any issues. rab jaane.
  9. Why did the army attack many other Gurudware as well? Sant Ji, like Sikhs in general, was a thorn in the side of a corrupt government. Indira Gandhi openly called Sikhs 'dogs' and thought we don't deserve any of the legitimate requests that were being made, which didn't help matters. The best books on the topic are by Cynthia Mahmood and 'The Gallant Defender' by retired (Hindu) magistrate A.R. Darshi.
  10. Guys, you don't need to write in huge font sizes for your message to be read. It's very annoying.....

Adjust your computer resolution and browser zoom scope. If you are using google chrome hold down control and press plus continuously till visible. Or invest in a bigger monitor.

  11. Good stuff, but I don't think that is really by Sant Isher Singh Ji, but Sant Waryam Singh Ji. Sant Isher Singh Ji explain Anhad Shabad etc somewhat differently in their audio recordings, and from what I gathered speaking to their old sangat and sevadars. Real anhad shabad is only heard after we reach the avastha where rom-rom simran is experienced. It is the most beautiful kirtan you can imagine. You can probably see Shaheed Singhs etc before reaching this avastha. The important thing is to maintain bairaag and keep focused on our ultimate goal, Waheguru! Has anyone experienced shaktian etc offering seva? The distractions on this path are many and very powerful.
