  1. As a past Catholic I think, even if this story is true, does more to hurt the credibility of Sikhi than it does to help it. Why do we need the "affirmative" nod from other religions? The GGSJ and SIkhi by extension are beautiful without the need of other religions/leaders of such religions to give it credibility. In addition, and on this point please voice your opinion, one of the amazing things about the GGSJ is that it does not condemn other paths (aka religions) as it states that every individual may reach enlightenment in his or her own way. My way is Sikhi, however, I recognize, and love that there are other individuals who wrote within the GGSJ who were not Sikh. In essence, what I am trying to say is that stories like these "sound" at the very least more fabricated than true and we should be careful how and where we say them because it may put off Sikhs, both long time practicing and new converts (like myself). If its true though I'd be really interested to find out the source so please post! =] Best regards, Outright
  2. WJKK WJKF Hey, rather stay anonymous but you can call me Outright. I'm Hispanic *gasps* lol, a Sikh, and 23 years old. I live in Boston, U.S. and I study law...My interests are: reading, running (exercise), recently joined a future class of Gatka, and trying to learn Gurmukhi. Between that stuff and law school I have no time left over...so those sum up my interests. Haha. Saw a lot of medical students here (only got to page 10), I wonder if there are any military individuals in here; I recently read about the advances Sikhs have made in the US Armed Forces through SikhCoalition and its some pretty cool stuff! p.s. Ouka cool stuff in here! Hope you learn a lot, I know I've been for the past couple of months!!!! Fateh
  3. Really like your work! Hope the company picks up, the clothing would be awesome for the young adults crowd!
  4. GTLoc thanks for the info! I recently started having doors opened for me in NY so hopefully that'll work out. And haha on my parents. Strangely enough my dad has been more and more intrigued by it everyday so who knows!

  6. WJKK, WJKF: Hey everyone. So I am a Hispanic Sikh (I know...odd lol) and I have some pressing troubles. I am studying law and I am moving into my second year. I work at several law firms currently, I am trying to get a feel for what kind of law I would like to practice in the future. My dilemma is this: Is the lawyer's world accepting of Sikhs? What I mean is, I am taking the steps to move towards Khalsa but as I approach it closer and closer fears are starting to pop up in my head. I am convinced that I want this path, however, I also have loans and bills to pay. I am wondering, since I have yet to see one, if there are some Sikh American lawyers out there? Could you tell me about the acceptance of others in this field? Also are there areas, or cities, of the country you would recommend over others? I don't know how my current employers would react. In addition my parents have invested a lot into me, time, money, etc. and so a lot is riding on me to do well. They have been so far accepting of my change in faiths (raised Catholic), however, they have shown concern about my employment in the near future as well. So I guess I am trying to find answers that will put them at ease as well. Thanks in advance for taking the time for even reading this. Fateh, Outright
