  1. Sat Sree Akal,, yes Pen Jee, you are right.... It is the mind who is playing mischief. This very mind, is a faithful agent of the Universal mind or Kal Purukh, who does not want the soul to go back to its Father´s home(Sach Khand).... But we too are not less, we are in essence same as Wahiguru, we are His sikhs also, means His devotees, So by getting support of His Name, happen whatever it may, we should hold His name as our only anchor. What can the worst happen? To die? So what? Well, even that would be a blessing, as it is said, if at the last moments of one´s life, we go where our thoughts are... So if we die doing His Simran, where shall we go? Naturally nowhere, but direct to Him, sooner or later. So make yourself strong, do not give up, come whatever it may. You see, where His rememberance is, through His Simran, no disasters happen there...whatever evil maybe...it flees away, it can not stand the puruty of His Name. Another point, you say, it is around 2 am, when you go through that scary phases, so, have you tried to change to any other time? You see, we should leave no stone unturned to give our best, in the best conditions...The darkness of agyanta is within, it has nothing to do with outer time,so, try doing at other time, where you feel comforted, in the end, it is by His Naam alone, that our spiritual darkness will be removed, and His splendour will shine within us with full force.... Last, when one is sick(karmas, sanskaras), one does not like the taste of the medicine, but, we shall get cured only, by taking the daily regular doses of medicine(Naam Simran). It is not a question of days or months....it is our love, which we have to offer at His Lotus Feet, through His Simran. Hum kookar tere Darbar... Best of luck, may God bless you. Sat Sree Akal.
  2. Dear brother Bhagat Jee, very sorry to hear about the passing away of your father. May Wahiguru keep his soul, at His Lotus Feet.
  3. Pen Jee, have you tried doing Simran on Wahiguru alone, as means of bhagti? I think this should be helpful in overcoming you fears... Sat Sree Akal.
  4. Brother akalpurukh, relax, cool down man. No need to get angry. Let me try to answer your questions.
  5. On Simran... Many of us, think, that devotion to the Lord consists of several activities. You see, Wahiguru is One without second. He is like the powerful magnet who attracts us towards Himself. But then, how does He attracts us? It is by His Simran alone. That is why the Bani says: Prabh ka Simran, sabh te oochaa. There is nothing comparable to it. It is the highest devotion which one can offer it at His Lotus Feet.. All other activities, are mere shadows of mannmat, which lead us nowhere. One may say, what is this ? Don´t you ever have anything else to say, apart from His Simran? You are constantly hammering on Simran alone, in terms of devotion.... Well, it is not me, nor my personal opinion. It is the very Bani, which insists so much. It is only, that we do what we see others do or say. No. That is not correct. We should pay attention with our eyes wide open, to what the Bani says. Following are the words of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sachay Patshah Arjun Dev Maharaj, where we can see by ourselves the supreme importance in doing the right type of bhakti. He says: ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ Ath Pehar Prabh Ka Japau Jaap आठ पहर प्रभ का जपु जापि Twenty-four hours a day, chant God's Chant. He clearly says 24 hours . You see, if the day had 25 or 26 hours, one could do 24 hours Simran, and the remaing time other karamkaands. But no, He says, do His Simran 24 hours. Now we may ask, how to do 24 hours Simran? The answer is : khaateh, peeteh, chalteh, phirteh, sovat, jaagat, visar na jaat ...premee sunoh prem kee baat. Apart from this His constant Simran, we should try to sit for some time, and meditate on His Naam, so that our surtee soars up in the spiritual realms within, and savour the taste of Bliss, which cometh out of this His Simran. Sat Sree Akal.
  6. Dear akalpurukh, no intention to put you down, or create any controversy, so do not feel ofended at all, but : Don´t you think, that this your statement is like saying, crocodiles, tigers and lions are not beasts.... if one is not in the jungle? Or water air earth and fire are not perishable elements, if you are connected with 1 God? You see, creation continues ...... even if one is with 1 God. Other thing is, it(Maya) does not affect you by His Grace, but still it exists, isn´t it? Let us take the example of a Sant; kam, krodh, lobh, moh and ahankar do exist, but that Sadhoo, that Bhagat, that Sant to say, by purifying itself with the Amrit of His Naam, has reached a level, in which he has merged his Consciousness in Him. So just as Wahiguru is beyond the reach of Maya, so are His devotees beyond the tentacles of Maya, by being in tune with His Bhana or will, by placing their heads at His Lotus Feet, through His Simran. Once the soul, trespasses the realms of Maya, (this very Maya which has put down big yogis, tapasvees, rulers of the Three Worlds, as big as Ravan, are all deluded by Maya), with the aid of Shabad Guru, Maya becomes the dasee of these high elevated souls: Gurmukhs. It is only with the power of Nam, that one can defeat Maya and its master Kal Purukh, not otherwise, do whatever one may ..... Sat Sree Akal.
  7. Brother Manvir, outer sounds hitting the walls and coming back, is something dependendant and material produced by the sound waves as boomerang, while the Shabad Dhun is 24 hours ringing within, and it is there where we shouild direct our attention/dhyan with His Simran. This is the Voice of Wahiguru, which flows at all times, irrespective of the outer time and conditions, and to which if one holds on, is carried to the highest spiritual Realm: Sach Khand. Sat Sree Akal.
  8. Sikhee says: There is of course One God, He is Satnam. Ik Onkar Satnam But to know about Him, we have to transcend the limits of the mind. Mind is for reasoning and understanding the phenomenal creation. Sochay soch na hovaee, jeh sochay lakh var Then to know and love Him, His glance of mercy is essential. Satgur parsad, jap. This is in short, the anwers for the O.P. But we may read or listen any Ang from the pure paviter Gurbani, it is nothing but mahima of that Supreme reality, namely Wahiguru Akal Purukh. You may also read and listen Jap Ji Sahib, Sukhmani Sahib and Anand Sahib; by His Grace, you will surely come to know about His beant wadeeayee, and taste the bliss from it. Though you may listen these Banis sung by any kertanee, I would strongly suggest, to listen these mentioned Banis above in the voice of Bhai Gurpreet Singh, Shimla Wale, his voice is melodious, and the way he recites the Bani, is just too much .... outstanding Sat Sree Akal.
  9. Dalsingh Jee, if allowed, I would like to share my personal opinions on some questions or matter, in your post of above of 17th Jan 2015. Sat Sree Akal.
  10. RAAG MALAR, BANI SREE GURU AMARDAS MAHARAJ On Jeevan mukti for once and ever ਸਾਚੀ ਗਤਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ Saachee Gath Saachai Chith Laaeae साची गति साचै चितु लाए True deliverance comes by focusing one's consciousness on the True Lord. In the line above, Sachay Patshah Amar Das Maharaj, is directly telling us, that true and permanent liberation, is got only by focussing one`s dhyan, one´s attention on te one Wahiguru Akal Purukh. No chanting, no pilgrimages, no bathing in so called sacerd waters, no fasting, no jap, no tap, no pooja, no paath, no flowers or incense ........nothing of that sort outer methods will ever help us to get any liberation, rather these rituals and ceremonies, wil be the cause of our coming back into this mayavee creation. It has to be so, if it can not take us there, naturally we shall fall here only ..... it is like an aeroplane warming its engine moving here and there, to reach its destiny, but without Nam Simran, it can never take off, do whatever it may ..... So, then we may ask, if all our outer practices are taken back away for being futile for our spiritual goal, what is there left for us to do? Well, Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj, gives us the perfect answer in the following line: ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ Gur Kee Baanee Sabadh Sunaaeae गुर की बाणी सबदि सुणाए Listen to the Shabad, and the Word of the Guru's Bani. He says, do Simran as per His instructions or updesh, in order to listen to the Shabad within us. So we can see clearly, that it is by listening to the Shabad Dhun within us, that all our countless karmas, sanskaras, vikars are wiped away...and at the same time, it is the very means, of our merging in Him and becoming Him. Such is the wadeeayee of His Naam. Sat Sree Akal.
  11. In the posts above, we have read something or the other of what is Shabad Guru, as per the title of this very thread. I was just going through a passage of the Bani of First Patshahee in Raag Malar, which is much related to the present topic, and found some very inspiring and very beautiful lines, which I would like to share with all the sangat of Sikh Awareness. In fact, it is utmost beautiful, and the very speech of Wahiguru Akal Purukh: ਧਨ ਵਾਂਢੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਸ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਠਾਈ Dhhan Vaandtee Pir Dhaes Nivaasee, Sachae Gur Pehi Sabadh Pathaaeanaee धन वांढी पिरु देस निवासी सचे गुर पहि सबदु पठाईं The soul-bride is separated from her Husband Lord, who lives in His Own Country(Sach Khand). He sends the Shabad, His Word(Naam), through the True Guru(Shabad Guru). Everyone cries out, ""Beloved! Beloved!"" But she alone finds her Beloved, who is pleasing to the Guru. By Guru's Grace, He is revealed within the home of my heart; I am intuitively, naturally, absorbed into Him * Here Guru Jee is telling us, that it is by the Grace of True Guru, that He is revealed within us, and not only that, but, we get absorbed in His Simran and Dhyan, which otherwise is as difficult as chewing iron. We must never forget, our efforts just show our intentions in seeking Him, but, it is His Grace alone, His glance of Daya Meher on us, which makes successful our petty and tiny efforts. After reading these pure paviter words, one´s soul, just rejoices, dances in ectasy. One has heard and read, that Wahiguru is most benevolent and merciful. But dear Wahiguru, I never thought You could be so merciful ..... We have always asked You for blessings, but today, this your bundha, blesses You, for being so good, so Dayalu. Oouch Apaar Beant Soami. Sat Sree Akal.
  12. Dear brother Sat, the answer to your above conclusions, is that, though as you truly say there are pearls of knowledge, I would even say mines of knwoledge, the thing is, the true teachings of our Guru Sahibans and the finest Bhagats, in the SGGSM, have been thrown far away. While first place have been given to rituals and dogmas, and this is not the fault of the actual preachers alone, it is being done, since the very day, Tenth Patshahee left this worldly plane. Each and everyone is interpreting the Bani by its own mental and spiritual levels. But what can the poor jeevas do? What is in our hands, apart from the filth in nour minds? I would say nothing , or a very little. Then too, that much little we have, we waste it after shadows ..... Just as brother Truthseeker has beautifully said above also: Jis no ṯū jāṇā▫ihi so▫ī jan jāṇai. They alone understand, whom You inspire to understand; Har guṇ saḏ hī ākẖ vakẖāṇai. they continually chant and repeat the Lord's Praises. ANG 11 This situation is quite oftenly repeated in the Bani, reffering to those fortunate souls as "wadhbagee", who are marked by the father to go back and merge in Him. We fail to understand, that if it is such the mauj of Waheguru, and the world has to continue, there have to be imperfections ... Otherwise if it was that easy, everybody would understand the teachings and accepted them as such, just imagine, everybody would go back to the Father´s house, and then there would come a day, when the creation below Parbrahm would come to an end, and Kal´s creation would be depopulated...... Christ was a Gurmukh also, and similarly to those wadbhagee jeevas referred in the Bani, He said: I have come to collect the marked sheep (souls) by my Father. You see, we are all blind. And only He has eyes. We can get hold of Him, only if He allows us to get hold of Him. Now what is it that Christ meant by saying : I have come to collect the marked sheep by my Father. Or when He said: I and the Father are one, those who have seen me, have seen the Father. Nobody can go to the Father, except unto me. Let us try to see the meaning in these His words, and the similarity with Sikhee. 1) I and the Father are one, those who have seen me, have seen the Father. Here He is saying that, He is a Gurmukh, a Sadhoo. Just as in the Bani, we see : Nanak, Sadh Prabh bhed na paee. And then seeing Him, means, seeing Him as the Shabad Guru within us. This we know, it is true, as only those who get hold of the Shabad Guru, reach Sach Khand. So Christ is not the body, but a manifestation of Wahiguru, who came for a particular period of time, in a particular place for a particular job to be done in that time being; which once accomplished, He merged back in Him. No real Gurmukh is the body, cause the body is perisahble, made out of the five perisahble elements. We must bear in mind, a Satguru, a Gurmukh, a Sadhoo, a Brahamgyani, is not the body, but a level of Highest Consciousness, expressing itself in the terms of us human beings, in order to understand what Wahiguru wants us to know about Him. The Bani says: Har jee baseh Sadh ke hirdey... Har jee baseh Sadh kee rasna... Wahiguru is much present in all of us, but, the difference between us and the Gurmukhs is, that while the mirrors of our mind are full of dirt, the ones of the Gurmuhks are spotless, thus they shine with the Light of Akal Purukh. And we are so silly, that while the Gurmukhs see the jot of Wahiguru in us, and they try to make us conscious of our true essence and try to direct our attention towards Wahiguru, but on the contrary we try to judge them with our manmukhta, and deny the possibilty of them being one with Him, thus we miss our golden opportunity. Just imagine, if one writes loads of posts in the forums on ruhaniyat, we call those ones straightly gurmukhs. But if someone who really is a Gurmukh, as He is one with Him, by means of His Grace and Shabad Dhun, we doubt Him and say, you are a fake one ... While on the other side, someone maybe a real thug, a dacoit, or a theif , and we call him a sant, just because he acts according to the prestablished frames in our polluted minds ........ This is how we worldy people are..... We look more on the coverings, then what is underneath... That also, when these Gumukhs, talk only of Wahiguru and the method of realizing Him through His Name.... So we wicked people, we crucified them; to others we made them sit on hot iron plates, to others we cut their heads an so on .... What a pity... we are not only blind, but cruel to those who talk of Wahiguru Akal Purukh with words of simplicity. We are so much bound by the chains of our so created rituals, dogmas, ceremonies, that if that Gurukh may talk simply of Wahiguru, and His Love or True devotion of Nam Simran, we will label Him as a fraud..... Even if we look to more of the teachings or sayings of Christ, we will be amazed to see the similarity with Sikhee. Other thing is, how the priest class and the world have twisted the teachings of Christ, and made a religion out of those teachings .... But the teachings of Christ are one thing, and the actual christainism is a totally different thing ...... The eternal Truth of any True Gurmukh is: Ik Onkar, Satgur Parsad, jap. That´s it, nothing more nothing less. This is the essence of Sikhee and the teachings of any True Gurmukh. Wahiguru Akal Purukh, is the only absolute reality. Sat Sree Akal.
  13. Dear brothers, this is such a magnificent topic, that no matter how much we may talk upon it, but in the end, as it is wadeeayee of Wahiguru and His Naam or Shabad, we can never ever do justice to it, as it is beant, it is apaar.... Socahy soch na hovaee, jeh sochay lahk vaar. But anyhow indeed we should continue singing and sharing His glory. Following are some words on this topic of Fifth Patshahee in Raag Soohee : ha-o man tan dayvaa satigurai mai maylay parabh guntaasay. I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue. ha-o man tan dayvaa satigurai mai maylay parabh guntaasay. I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue. gur sajan pi-aaraa mai mili-aa har maarag panth dasaahaa. I have met my Beloved Friend, the Guru, who has shown me the Path to the Lord. gur sundar mohan paa-ay karay, har paraym banee man maari-aa. Finding the beautiful and fascinating Guru, I have conquered my mind, through the Bani, the Word of my Beloved Lord. mayrai hirdai suDh buDh visar ga-ee, man aasaa chint visaari-aa. My heart has forgotten its common sense and wisdom; my mind has forgotten its hopes and cares. mai antar vaydan, paraym kee gur daykhat man saaDhaari-aa. Deep within my self, I feel the pains of divine love. Beholding the Guru, my mind is comforted and consoled. Note :Usually whenever I write something from Gurbani, I do interpret it according to my personal understanding, but today is one such ocassion that I have no words, and prefer to leave it as it is, so that each one may enjoy the "rus" from the words above of Sachay Patshah Dhan Dhan Satguru Arjun Dev Maharaj. Sat Sree Akal.
  14. ON GOOD DESTINY... ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਸਤਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ बिनु भागा सतसंगु न पाईऐ करमि मिलै हरि नामु हरी Bin Bhaga Sadh sang N Paeeai, Karam Milai Har Nam Haree Without good destiny, the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, is not obtained. By the grace of one's good karma, there where the Lord's Name(jugtee, updesh) is received. *Note: as Nam is already within each and everyone, irrespective of colour, caste, class or dharam, or though, even one may not be consciouss about it. Raag Basant, Bani Dhan Dhan Satguru Nanak Dev Maharaj. Gurmukhs, Mahapurkhs, Sant Janas, Bhagat Janas, do not come to create any new religion, their only religion is Satnam, their abode is Satnam, their destiny is Satnam, they live by Satnam, they breathe Satnam....and it is there, where they invite us to go .... Sat Sree Akal.
  15. Address details by Sree Guru Nanak, upon where to look and search for Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Ghatt Ghatt Gupath Oupaeae Vaekhai, Paragatt Guramukh Santh Jana In each and every heart, the Lord is hidden; there He creates and watches over all. But it is in the humble Saintly Gurmukhs where He reveals Himself. Raag Basant, Bani Dhan Dhan Satguru Nanak Dev Maharaj. Sat Sree Akal..
  16. Meditation, Love and knowledge.... Meditation is seeing God in yourself. Love is seeing God in the person next to you. Knowledge is seeing God everywhere.
  17. EXPLANATIONS Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you, does not need it, and the person who dislikes you, won´t believe it
  18. UNBEATABLE THOUGHT iT TAKES AROUND TWO YEARS , TO LEARN TO SPEAK. BUT IT TAKES A LIFETIME TO LEARN, WHAT NOT TO SPEAK.
  19. HAPPINESS Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are, it solely relies on what you think. Buddha. *Personal Note: Though we may think, these words of Buddha are full of wisdom, but if we pay attention to them, it is basically sikhee. Cause it says, happiness depends on what one thinks about, and as we know per Gurmat, thinking is Simran, so if we think of Wahiguru, means we do His chintan, His Simran; we are bound to get true and everlasting happiness, by getting merged in Him. Sat Sree Akal.
  20. A WISH The nicest place is to be someone´s thoughts. The safest palce is to be someone´s prayers. But the best place is to be in God´s hands. *Moral of these words: One maybe all alone in this world, one may have no one on whom to lean on, but for sure Wahiguru is even then for us, there is no doubt in it. It is we who have to place ourselves in His hands, and as per the Bani, to place ourselves in His hands, is not difficult at all, we just have to take the shelter in the simran His sweet Name : WAHIGURU
  21. TEMPER We are like steel. When we loose our temper , we loose our worth. Even iron becomes weak when it is hot, and people use it as they wish. So always try to stay cool, if you wish to be strong.
  22. SOUL CONSCIOUSNESS Spiritual awareness is cultivtated through deliberate practice, and only those who have understood the need for this kind of true, inner , self respect, will make the effort. Difficulties will arise to test our resolve for self upliftment, physicall illness, relationships, memories of the past, and so on. Yet with patience and introspection, one will come to see, how these very tests are the means to strenghthen our spiritual identity and nature.
  23. Hats off Sat Veer Jee, I think, by far this is the best post I have come through, upon meditation and samadhi. Though it is information only, but the thing is, the simplicity and carity in it, strongly inspires one to keep going on this path of self realzation first, which then leads us to realize Him. Once again thank you.
  24. Sat Jee, All the posts above, just excellent. Excellent in presentation, and excellent in contents.... Thank you for sharing it with the Sangat. I personally some times feel, that this forum here is like free spiritual center, where we get inspired by the sangat in general, each one putting his, her, little grain at the service of others..... It is our duty(free will) now, to apply if not most of it, at least some of the valuable information into practice, so to say, to derive the benefits from these universal spiritual truths.... Sat Sree Akal.
  25. Naam Simran We may wonder why our Guru Sahibans stress so much on Naam Simran... The thing is, there in Sach Khand, only Wahiguru Nirankar exists. And as we all know, also, the Unstruck melody of Shabad resounds forever..... In that way, we have to fill up our beings with His Name, to that extent, that when we are full with it, we become used to it and we will not have any problem there, as there is no Tv, radio, magazines, mobiles, inetrnet and so on..... It has been seen many a times, people feel insecure, as they are so engrossed in this mayavee creation, that they find it boring even to listen any issues on God and spirituality.... Wahiguru is no less, in that sense. He has a purpose for us with His Simran, that while living here we become used to the bliss derived from His Simran, that like just as children depend on milk alone, similarly, we also get used with the Simran of His Naam, that much, that with time, each pore, each cell of our being, is filled with His Naam, thus only, can we merge in the Naam there, by His Kirpa. Sat Sree Akal.
