There's much debate on whether Buddhism should be classed as a religion due to that very notion, although they don't believe in a god they do believe breaking free from creation. Sort of similar to how many other religions perceive enlightenment.

Its not that simplistic bro. They dont beleive in God in abhramic sense as they beleive in Absolute non dual reality/Non dual God reality without abhramic notions. See- Buddhist sutra including heart sutra- gate gate for more info, for example- form(sargun) is empitness(nirgun), empitness(nirgun) is form(sargun). They also have buddhisatva - realized awakened beings equivalent to bhramgyanis, and also beleive in  buddhist gods -sargun devotion spread out in various different school of thoughts/sects within Buddhism.

    Hello,

First let me apologize for my intrusion into your community. I am not Sikh, but I have great respect for your community and beliefs and I was hoping someone could provide me with some guidance on a situation my son is involved with. My son who is autistic was having a problem with a Sikh boy at his camp today and was repeatedly pulling his patka off his head. My son is not able to articulate the source of the conflict.  My question is, how offensive and how upsetting would this be for the Sikh boy and his family?  I don't want to make a bigger deal of it than it is, but without knowing the context or import of the head covering I can't gauge the appropriate level response. We will obviously do our best to make sure it doesn't continue tomorrow, but we don't know if further measures are necessary (like writing a letter to the boy and his family explaining my son's difficulties and our regrets about the situation).

I also apologize if this is not the appropriate forum for outsiders to ask uninformed questions.

    Respectfully,

    Joe

Welcome to our forum which is open to everyone. I am sorry about your situation as a parent. I understand challenges behind autism..i wish your son well, very healthy conscious mindful living. Its upsetting and offensive for sure for sikh in this case sikh pupil to have his patka pulled off from his head. Patka-head covering/turban is considered sacred symbol - crown sikhs wear proudly as sign of nobility and practically to take care of our hair. Yes please do write a letter providing proper context of incident, situation that took place. Most sikhs are also very forgiving as compassion(dya) is integral part of sikh faith. They will understand the situation behind the incident.

  4. Dude do whatever resonates with ya deeply not via conditioning but deeply in meditation drop that question of what you drawn towards- feel the divine will and be guided by it... enjoy the worldly game... Dont think being behingum is any easier for a second than grishti jevan. They are both hard, external circumstances are beyond our control..only free will you have... if we have (even that could be argued) is how nirlaip/calm are you regardless of situation, relationship status. One could be biggest bhogi/engaged in worldly affairs while behingum and one could be nirlaip as jalkamal/cool as cucumber while being in gristhi/ bhog..worldly relationship status does not mean anything. Maharaj leela is way beyond our minds.

  5. Ok well you are playing with semantics, putting words in my mouth. i know what i said you purposely ignore- key term - optional. I dont need your psychoanalysis on what i said, leave it up to readers. In the meantime, you can go take a hike, its beautiful day and feel kudrat rather than sitting as  sock jock arm chair quater back..!!

which taksal or akhara studies Rumi?  i thinks that's your personal preference

Not my personal reference. Lot of sevapanthis have read rumi works, even mainstream kathavachik like gyani pinderpal singh have read sufi/rumi literature. It's pretty well known in spiritual-adyatamic circle.

  7. We are seeing example of burning masand being used more and more often these days, recent event when dhumma chela quoted this on media and broad day light in punjab and then dhumma chelas in uk- justifying cold blooded murder of bhai bhupinder singh ji. In general, every groups wants to use this example to remove threat as they deem. These days, anyone who does not agree with their line of thought is massand ....totally ignoring contextualization, conceptualization, circumstances, under pinning of gurmat sidhant such as dya of guru sahib, karak bhramgyan element on all historical events.

This is clear example how one can get totally caught up in idolizing -cycle of historical events alone without gurmat under pinning (contextualization, dya aspect) and their egos hiding behind these events to carry on self righteous actions mixed with ego and pride against innocents, parchariks, scholars who have difference opnion. This is same pitt fall many hindu, muslim, buddhist, christian extremist and radicals have fallen into. If we claim ourselves unique than we must rise above from same pitfall many have fallen and realize cautionary tales/profound discourses and prime value sidhant in gurmat and follow those attributes than following this conditioned egoic human tendancy to be so blinded, caught up, hide behind the events to justify our own personal shortcoming, our own ego agenda.

  8. We were advised by application security department about this hack about 7 months ago, patches have been applied after the security breach by our security department at invision power services. Many steps have been taken by invision board so it does not happen again in new update builds. As a result, our forum version is fully up to date at all times. I have already contacted google to have it removed but i do like to point out in the text file it does not have raw passwords as it has its hash which is quite hard to brute force into. But as a precaution, we do advise our users do change their password.

  9. Everyone of us have core being-center sometimes in gurbani its referred to top of head  - dasam dwar and sometimes its referred to hirda - spiritual heart right side of the chest . Just concentrate on right side of the chest-spiritual heart- feel the blueish cool calm energy there -CENTER where every energy is coming from in the body- then imagine naam simran happening there slowly vahiguru vahiguru. Try this if you can, it may or may not resonate with ya.

Ok So basically recently, about a month ago I've started doing more Bani than I used to do, I do atleast 1 Sukhmani Sahib a day, as many Chaupai Sahib as I can, various other bani, I listen to Chandi di Vaar (at the appropriate time) and I am always listening to Sukhmani Sahib when I sleep or any form of Kirtan. But I have started having really weird things happen to me, firstly let me start by saying I am not a superstitious person and I am in no way imagining this. While I'm reading my bani (any one it doesnt matter which) I feel hot, I dont mean slightly warm, I start perspiring heavily and I feel like im on fire. I don't stop but keep reading obviously, at first I thought perhaps it was due to the fact that I was sitting around in warm places, so I changed rooms, changed places, all the same. I was then fortunate enough to recite SUkhmani Sahib infront of Guru Sahib Maharaj, this is when it got far more unbearable, I felt out of breath and I felt like I was on fire. I hope I don't sound egoistic but when it comes to Sukhmani Sahib recitation I am able to do it in a time frame of approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes. I could barely sit for 20 minutes and I request Akal forgive my shortcomings and put my Gutka Sahib away.

Does anyone know what is going on with me? I'm deeply concerned about this.

It seems like you are open to gurbani intensity, it happens. You may want to concentrate on your core being- heart -hirdae spiritual heart (right side of the chest) then in mind imagine naam simran (vahiguru, vahiguru) is happening at the spiritual heart (right side of the chest). It will subdue the intensity of body.

  11. Mediation helps make mind one pointedness, inward turned so it recognize its source, whether via abiding in shabad, shabad dhun, breathing or through being shabad mahavak gyan- aware of ALIVE ENLIGHTENED JOT inside everyone (being aware of awareness/awakeness)

  12. Subconscious mind and soul are not same. As far as i understand, subconscious mind is collection of latent tendencies/memories from previous life, seen as form of thoughts arising and subsiding. Soul/JOT is the source or substratum - unmanifest potential -Awake pure awareness-aware of itself, self cognitive where all the world phenomena arise and subside. Its source of everything.
