  1. I dont mean to be rude, but i personally do not believe in any of these sants or what they have to say. they might be good people and you might believe that what they say is the truth, but for me, i feel that they just pull me farther away from my sikhi. all i need is my Guru and through my interpretation, i dont feel that any Guru would ever perform a miracle because that doesnt go along with Sikh philosophy as i see it.
  2. How can you prove that any of that stuff happened? I'm not talking about just some rumour that has been spread around the town and is the so-called reason for the building of that Gurudwara. Why do you feel that it would be nice to say something like that? Are we not to have complete trust in our Guru jis that everything they did was correct because they were imbued with Waheguru jis' light? What are these miracles that you speak of? Are they actually performed infront of your eyes?
  3. but in gurbani, death has never refered to physical death, rather spiritual death. Guru ji never believed in performing miracles, so the assumption that he did so at the first amrit sanchar doesnt fit.
  4. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh. Personally i feel that this veerji should take amrit and help guide his wife. he should take her to different retreats and such and show her that you can be into Sikhi without being "fanatical". im sure as time goes on, she will begin to love Sikhi as much as he does. when she sees him doing his paat, hopefully she will join him and from there learn more about Sikhism. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh
  5. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh. personally i feel that all this bakwas about the panj pyare being beheaded is just that, bakwas. in my opinion, Guru ji did ask for the heads of five Sikhs, who were then taken into a tent. Guru ji came out with a bloody sword after each Sikh was let in. The intent of this was to test how brave the Sikhs of the time were. from what i understand, Guru ji realized that the character of Sikhs had to be strengthened, and for this reason made the Khalsa. After the khande bate di phol ceremony, he reemergered with the panj pyare and then recieved amrit from them. All this about him actually beheading people infront of the sangat seems to have just been added in to make the story more interesting and "magical". Guru ji never performed any miricles because there was no need to. so why would he take away life and then use his powers to return it? This falsification is just like every other "sakhi" in which Guru ji was guarded by a snake, or took care of cattle while doing naam simran. please read through these stories carefully and read gurbani to see if these stories match up with Guru jis' teachings. phul chuk maf. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh.
  6. Bhanji, if you feel that you need to take amrit, then take it. it is the first step towards your Guru. It is just a first step, there is no need to feel worried about it. Guru ji allows for mistakes because you are only human. Someone who feels so strongly and passionatly should not let anything stand in her way. Its ok if your family isnt in to Sikhi, you can start a new tradition As for wearing a Keski, as a Sikh, that is your right. Wear it with pride dispite what others might say to you. Remember, Guru ji said men and women are equal, so if Sikh men have the right to wear a dastar, then so do you
  7. i agree with what you said but the womans role is not only to support her husband and raise her children, she herself has the right to power and intelligence. she is not to stand behind and nudge others, she herself can speak out and lead. the flame within sikh females needs to be reignited. we need to remember what Guru ji pointed out, that women and men are equal, in every respect, and for that reason, a woman has every right to stand up and speak her mind, to follow her Guru ji and be free from barriers. Guru ji has removed any barriers that we would have to face, so instead of reinstalling them, we should take advantage of our position.
