  1. If the Khalsa is bound by Maya, does that mean the Khalsa does not exist outside of the boundaries of Maya which to my understanding is just an Illusion like a dream? But I do agree that Khalsa is the 3rd Panth.
  2. My point was, it is lack of control of Kaam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, Ahankar and other such negative emotions is what leads to all crime in the world. If one is not a Brahmgiani, yet still feels they need to keep a Bachelor lifestyle, then they should live away from human contact. There was a reason why Sadhus and Yogis would live away from civilization into caves and jungles to do meditation, “No humans, No temptation” is how they saw it. But for Nanaksar Babas, they live within society, plus they lead a bachaler lifestyle. Only the strong will survive this, the weak will submit to Kaam. Because many times the "Bachelar for life" rule is not for everyone. That is why Sikhs lead the Grahisti jeevan.
  3. I don’t believe that we should blame any one Jatha or Sampradaya for sex scandals. But I think that such cases do point to us how important it is that individuals live Grahisti Jeevan. Bihangam life style is not for everyone, and should not be a compulsory rule for Babas to join Nanaksar order. It should be optional. Kaam is such a strong emotion that anyone can fall. Even great Rishis sometimes have fallen.

Kala afghana is an assole in my opinion. His views are not Tat Khalsa views. Kala afghana's views are a separate category itself. I believe in the Singh Sabha, and I strongly oppose Kala Afghana and his Kalay dil dhay chele. These guys only understand one language, and that is the language of the Chithars.
  5. Actually I dont think that people stopped wearing Kenttha because of Singh Sabhiya influence. Up until our grand parent’s generation people did wear traditional Punjabi dress such as Chadhra, Kenttha, Turlawali pagh etc. But with the influence of western culture our parent’s generation (baby boomers) stopped wearing these things, perhaps because it was no longer considered cool by them. It would be cool to see more people wearing these things other than the Bhangra dancers.
  6. Who is Swami Brahmdev? He looks like a Nirmala.
  7. According to Islam a Muslim is one who believes in the prophethood of Mohammad and follow his doctrine. Anyone who does not do this is a non Muslim, therefore a Kaffir (non-believer). It is no use for us to try to revise Islamic concepts to how we want to interpret them. Personally I don’t have a problem with Muslims considering me a Kaffir. They have their way, and I have mine. If they respect my right to freedom of faith, I’ll respect them. It is only when someone tries to enforce their doctrine on me that I have a problem with. Otherwise there is no problem.
  8. Sikh warrior culture and Rajput warrior culture seem to be very similar. They even have a Dhadhi tradition (ballad singing) like ours. Chivilry was what a Rajput lived and died for. They were like the samurais of India.
  9. I don’t know about Panthic weekly being AKJ, but in the Vancouver area AKJ is not very numerous. In fact it is other organizations such as Taksal or that Harjas Jatha which has a strong hold over the youth in Vancouver area. All the protesters that were out against Dadriawala were just mainstream Sikhs. Many were even Monaas. Personally I think that Dadriawala is a little too over rated. He is a good orator, I'll give that much credit.
  10. Shows the kind of respect people in Punjab have for Baba Deep Singh Jee. But they should have made a documentary instead of an Indian commercialized movie which we all know isn't very good in narrating history.
  11. So what exactly is Sanjam Kiriya (or Kriya?). Isn’t there also a Sanatanist website about this? Is it a type of an exercise?
  12. Man, you got some issues. I hope you book an appointment for some professional help …SOON! I’m out of this discussion.
  13. First of all, I know about the Shia concept of Imamiat. But Shia’s themselves use that terms as an honourable title for respected clergy. That is why you will come across many Shia who add that title to the grand Ayatollas, for example ‘Imam Khomeini’. I think that your over inflated ego is giving you too much credit than you really deserve. So now you are a bigger authority on Shia’ism than Shia clergy? I know that you know a lot of Shia’ism, but to think that your word has more authority on the final verdict than Shia clergy is just reeking of ego. Also, please don’t put words in my mouth. When the heck did I support Shia regimes? To think that “I†of all people support Shia clergy is just plain ridiculous. I HATE mullacracy. In my opinion if Mullas (both Shia and Sunni ones) did not exist, world peace would have been a thousands times closer. That being said, I still don’t think that anyone deserves getting their head bashed in by Islamic radicals. Shias have been living under Sunni rule as a persecuted community and quite often forced to hide their beliefs (Taqiya). If Shias want to fight back against Sunni extremists, they have all the rights to do so.
  14. Well, it’s strange that you say that since Ayatollas and Shia Imams in the middle east are the supportive forces in most of these political parties. These Shia Imams are no amateurs to Shia’ism. They have studied in Shia centers of learning such as Najaf. Sheikh Hassan Nasrala also studied in Iraq in his early days. Although I know that you know a lot of Shia’ism (more than anyone I know), but I think that even you have to admit that the Ayatollas and Imams know more about Shia’ism than you. Personally I don’t see anything wrong with Shias wanting to have political parties who will protect the interests of their community. It is 100 times better than getting your head kicked in by Sunnis all your life and being forced to live in Taqiya. I don’t think they should have to wait hundreds (if not thousands) of years for Imam Mahdi to come and rescue them.
  15. Since banis are in Raag, it only makes sense to think that our “Raagis” should also sing in those Raags. Why else would Guru Jee write all those Banis in specific Raags? All those filmi tunes are ones own Manmat. We need to bring Raag Vidhiya back into mainstream Panthic practices. To sing in Raag is Gurmat, which is what we need to follow.
  16. Lalleshwari, the party which to date has carried out the most anti-Sikh policies has not been religious based parties i.e. Akali Dal, BJP but rather the so-called secular party of India known as the Congress party of India. This secular party has broken up Punjab simply because Sikhs wanted Punjabi as the state language, carried out operation blue star, and also the anti-Sikh riots which followed the assassination of Indira Gandhi. What is your view about the many Shia religious parties that are now popping up all over the middle east with their new found freedom to practice religion? These Shia religious parties be it the Shia coalition of Iraq, Hezbolla or the religious Shia theocracy of Iran are thriving under the blessings of Shia Imams. Do you disagree with their existence as well?
  17. "Husbands should take full care of their wives, with [the bounties] God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money. Righteous wives are devout and guard what God would have them guard in the husbands’ absence. If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great." (Sura 4:34 of the Holy Quran) This is not Shia or Sunni. This is the Holy Quran.
  18. Every culture is good be it Arab, Chinese, Bengali, Punjabi, Japanese, Rajasthani etc but at the same time every culture has some aspects which can be categorized as a dark side of the culture. It seems to me that westerners only concentrate on the dark side of the many eastern cultures as if we are the barbarian who need civilizing by the civilized westerners. I always hear westerners with the typical “Holier than thou†attitude saying: “Oh Look how they oppress their girls! They won’t allow her to have pre-marital sex or have homosexual relationships†We have our traditions dating back thousands of years. It’s not easy to let go of them simply because YOU don’t like it. You don’t see Punjabi Sikhs imposing on white women not to have pre marital sex, then why do westerners have such an issue if we don’t adapt to their values? Western culture has many admirable qualities which Sikhs have adopted or are adopting while living in the west. But don’t expect us to abandon our core values anytime soon. 19. Lalleshwari, 1. Iran, pre-Safavid period had a shia minority, it was largely Sunni until the Safavids invaded. Safavid emperor, Islmail I not only made Shia`ism the state religion, but also forced the largely Sunni population to adhere to the twelver brand of Shia Islam. He did this by giving them a choice between conversion to twelver Shia`ism or death. The Sunnis who did not convert were either killed or exiled. Even Aurangzeb (the worst emperor India ever produced!) wasn’t this tyrannical by any stretch of the imagination. For more information please read following on the Safavids: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safavids BTW, I would especially read the chapter “Establishment of Shi'ism as the state religion” 2. Khomeini is a figure not only respected by Imams in Iran, but continues to be a revered figure in Iraq and Lebanon where posters of Khomieni are found all over. Radical Iraqi Shia cleric Muktada AlSadr and the Lebonese Shia leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrala all respect Khomeini. Sure some Shia’s whose eyes may have opened to the truth are no longer followers of these tyrants and terrorists, and may God make more Shias like them. 3. The Suhravardis are not Shias. They are Sunnis. Infact many Pakistani Suhrawardi scholars are even employed as professors in Islamic studies in Soudi Arabia. I doubt Soudi Arabia would allow this if the Suhrawardis were Shias. Please visit the following site which gives a brief intro to Sunni brand of Islam. http://www.experiencefestival.com/a/Sunni_Islam/id/573361 Scroll down to "Sunni Islam - Subsects within Sunni Islam" where it mentions the Suhrawardi sect. Shia or Sunni, I’m still not convinced that Ghani Khan and Nabi Khan were followers of the Suhrawardi sect. This is the first I have even heard of this. 4. I can’t speak for the Qadiriyas in other countries, but the present day Qadiriya followers of whose spiritual lineage is unbroken from Saint Mia Mir in Pakistan identify themselves as Sunni, NOT Shia. Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't it true that you yourself also drink wine. Yet you have a problem if the Safavis drink wine?
  20. I don’t think that a person should have to abandon ones culture and traditions just to have citizenship of the host nation. Demanding that a people abandon their ancestral traditions in favour of the host nation's culture is no different to how Islamic theocracies work which only treats one as equals if one were to adopt a certain lifestyle. I think that we need to get out of this Talibanistic mindset and look at the bigger picture which is that we are many who have diverse lifestyles, cultures, traditions, and no one should be forced to give up their culture just to ‘fit in’.
  21. Lalleshwari Jee, 1. Painday Khan was like an adopted son of Guru Hargobind Sahib jee. For a moment of weakness, Painday Khan was lured by his Pathan relatives to go against the Guru. During battle, when Guru Jee struck a fatal blow to Painday Khan with his sword, Guru Jee told him to read his Kalma before meeting his maker, to which Painday Khan beautifully replied “Guru Jee, your sword IS my Kalma, from whose simple touch one can receive Behsht (Jannat). You are merciful, please forgive me for my sins”. Saying this, Painday Khan left this world. Painday Khan was forgiven by Guru Jee as a father would forgive his son. We in India have an old saying which suits this perfectly: ” subha kaa bhula aggar shaam ko ghar wapis aa jaye to ussay bhula nahi kehthay 2. I don’t know about Gani Khan or Nabi Khan being followers of the Surawardi sect (first time I’ve heard of this!). But even if they are, that still goes in my favour. The Surawardi school is part of the Hanafi subdivision of Sunni Islam. So Surawadi or no Surawardi, in both cases the Khans were Sunnis and honourable men indeed! 3. If Moraaco was originally a Shia country that was forcibly converted to Sunni Islam, then there are examples of the reverse that are also true. Iran was originally a Sunni nation that was forcibly converted to Shia Islam by the fanatical Shia Safavids. There is fanaticism on both sides of the coin. Just because of a few fanatics does not mean all Shias or even Sunnis are not true Muslims. If Al Qaida is giving good Sunnis a bad name, then so are fanatics on the Shia side such as Ayatola Khomeini, Muktada AlSadr and the Hezbolla led by Sheikh Hassan Nasralla. 4. The Qadri Sufis are Sunnis even if the lineage is from Imam Ali. More importantly, THEY identify themselves as Sunnis. So now we have another giant of a name, Saint Mia Mir to add to the Sunni Muslim Shardaloos of the Gurus.
