ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਸੂਚੇ ॥
Har Har Naam Majan Kar Soochae ||
Taking my cleansing bath in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have been purified.

ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ 
Dhaas Apanae Ko Dheejai Dhaan 
Please give this gift to Your servant,
 
ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ 
Kabehoo N Visarai Naanak Naam 
That Nanak might never forget the Naam. 

ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Naam Aoukhadhh Soee Jan Paavai ||
He alone receives the panacea, the medicine of the Naam,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਵੈ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Jis Aap Dhivaavai ||
Unto whom the Lord, in His Grace, bestows it.

ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Jeevan Padhavee Har Kaa Naao ||
The immortal status is obtained through the repetition of the Name of the Lord;
 

ਮਾਧਵੇ ਭਜੁ ਦਿਨ ਨਿਤ ਰੈਣੀ ॥
Maadhhavae Bhaj Dhin Nith Rainee 
Meditate constantly, day and night, on the Lord (by repeating His name).
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
Janam Padhaarathh Jeeth Har Saranee 
And you shall be victorious (obtain salvation)in this priceless human life, in the Protection of the Lord's Sanctuary. 
 

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
Jis No Karam Karae Prabh Apanaa ||
That person, unto whom God grants His Mercy
 
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਜਨਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੩॥
Har Har Naam Thinai Jan Japanaa ||3||
that humble being chants the Name of the Lord

ਲਾਜ ਮਰੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ॥
Laaj Marai Jo Naam N Laevai ||
Those who do not repeat the Naam, the Name of the Lord, shall DIE OF SHAME.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਕਿਉ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
Naam Bihoon Sukhee Kio Sovai ||
Without the Name, how can he ever sleep in peace?
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਚਾਹੈ ॥
Har Simaran Shhaadd Param Gath Chaahai 
The mortal abandons meditative repetition of the Lord´s  Name, and then wishes for the state of supreme salvation

ਜਿਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਤ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥
Jih Maarag Eihu Jaath Eikaelaa ||
जिह मारगि इहु जात इकेला ॥
Upon that path where you must go all alone,
ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਤ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
Theh Har Naam Sang Hoth Suhaelaa ||
तह हरि नामु संगि होत सुहेला ॥
There, only the Lord's Name shall go with you to sustain you.

Sant parsad japeeyay Har Nao

Sun sundar, saaDhoo bachan uDhaaree.
Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved.
jo ih mantar kamaavai, naanak, so bha-ojal paar utaaree.
One who practices this Mantra, O Nanak, swims across the terrifying world-ocean

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
Kirapaa Nidhhaan Naanak Ko Karahu Dhaath ||
क्रिपा निधान नानक कउ करहु दाति ॥
O Lord, O treasure of mercy, please bless Nanak with this gift,
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਪੀ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪॥
Naam Thaeraa Japee Dhin Raath ||4||8||14||
नामु तेरा जपी दिनु राति ॥४॥८॥१४॥
That he may chant Your Name, day and night. ||4||8||14||

*Note: see the importance of the repetition of His Name, that even Sree Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj Himself, implores the Lord to bless Him in such a way, that He may repeat His Name, not at particular times of the day, but rather at any/all times of the day, for that repetition will by itself make those moments auspicious.
People may say many things, but what truly counts in the end is what Guru Jee Himself says, that is pure/true gyan, for it is perfect, without any pollution of man/mind.

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੨॥੮॥
Jisehi Bujhaaeae This Naam Lainaa ||1|| Rehaao ||2||8||
जिसहि बुझाए तिसु नामु लैना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥२॥८॥
He alone repeats the Naam, whom God causes to understand its supreme importance above all other practices. (That is His true Kirpa on the jeev atma)

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਗਲ ਪਾਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Har Kae Naam Bin Jhoothae Sagal Paasaarae ||1|| Rehaao ||
हरि के नाम बिनु झूठे सगल पासारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without the repetition of the Name of the Lord, all other displays are false (have no value in His eyes). |

ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਸੇਈ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਾ ॥
Sae Dhhanavanth Saeee Sach Saahaa ||
They are wealthy, and they are the true merchants,
 
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ॥੧॥
Har Kee Dharageh Naam Visaahaa ||1||
Who have the credit of the Naam in the Court of the Lord.
 
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੀਤ ॥
Har Har Naam Japahu Man Meeth ||
So chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in your mind, my friends
 
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gur Pooraa Paaeeai Vaddabhaagee Niramal Pooran Reeth ||1|| Rehaao ||
The Perfect Guru is found by great good fortune, and then one's lifestyle becomes perfect and immaculate.

Jug Mehi Raam Naam Nisathaaraa ||3||
जुग महि राम नामु निसतारा ॥३॥
In each age, emancipation comes only from the Lord's Name.
Raag Suhi Sree Guru Amar Das

ਸੇ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ॥੧॥
Sae Karameheen Har Naam N Dhhiaavehi ||1||
से करमहीण हरि नामु न धिआवहि ॥१॥
Those who do not meditate on the Name of the Lord are the most unfortunate. ||1||

Raag Asa Guru Nanak Dev

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਖੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Jis No Raakhai So Sach Bhaakhai Gur Kaa Sabadh Beechaaraa ||
जिस नो राखै सो सचु भाखै गुर का सबदु बीचारा ॥
One whom the Lord wants to save, chants the True Name, and contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਨ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਾਤੀ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jaanahu Joth N Pooshhahu Jaathee Aagai Jaath N Hae 
Recognize the Lord's Light within all, and do not consider social class or status;
there are no classes or castes in the world hereafter.

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
Kirapaa Keejai Saa Math Dheejai Aath Pehar Thudhh Dhhiaaee ||
O Lord, show Your Mercy, and bless me with such understanding, that I may meditate on You, twenty-four hours a day.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Guramath Raam Naam Jas Gaavaa Anth Baelee Dharageh Leae Shhaddaaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
Under Guru's Instruction, I sing the Praises of the Lord's Name; it shall be my help and support in the end, and it shall deliver me in the Court of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Guramath Naam Maeraa Praan Sakhaaee Har Keerath Hamaree Reharaas ||1|| Rehaao ||
Through the Guru's Instructions, the Naam is my breath of life, and the Praise of the Lord is my occupation

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਜਨੁ ਤਾਰਿਓ ॥
Har Har Naam Japath Jan Thaariou ||
Hari hari nāmu japat janu tāriō ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, His servant has been ferried across.

ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
Saajan Purakh Sathigur Maeraa Pooraa This Bin Avar N Jaanaa Raam ||
साजनु पुरखु सतिगुरु मेरा पूरा तिसु बिनु अवरु न जाणा राम ॥
My Perfect True Guru is my Best Friend, the Primal Being. Other than Him I do not know any other Lord.
