  1. Vaheguru Ji ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji ki Fateh! 'Soulfinder' and 'WaheguruDaGulam' veerji, thank you for your replies. I live in Delhi, India. I have recently started exploring Sikhi (4-5 months) and I don't know any particular rehitvaan gursikhs near me. Before the recent lockdown in Delhi due to rising covid cases, me and my father used to go to Gurudwara Nanak Piao Sahib every week to attend a weekly Samagam. Some AKJ gursikhs also used to come but otherwise, I don't know much about it. My Mamaji (Father's maternal uncle) knows many AKJ gursikhs and he often does Kirtan at AKJ Samagams. His name is Bhai Hardeep Singh Ji. He is also a very chardikala gursikh and many people love to do sangat with him(including me and my father). Once me and my family went to their house and my grandfather touched the topic that I don't want guru sahib's prakash at home. Mamaji and his wife(my mamiji) instantly said that first I need to make my jeevan ucha sucha and then come to these things. They said that if there is no prakash at home then my family's connection will break away from Gurbani. At that time I had so many points to say that my family has no chao/utsah to do Sewa of guru sahib. I wanted to say that the thing that worries my family is their sehaj path, then they can do it with Senchiaan. But, what can a manmukh say in front of gursikhs?! I just kept listening to them and couldn't say a word. At another event, this topic was again touched when we visited them. This time, another chardikala gursikh was at their house. You all may know him. His name is Bhai Charanjeet Singh UK, but now living in Calgary, Canada. He often does Kirtan with Bhai Jagpal Singh Ji at AKJ. This time the topic of Larivaar saroop was touched. My Mamaji and Bhai Charanjeet Singh Ji though are Singhs with ucha jeevan but they don't read bani from Larivaar saroop. I strongly think it is because of lack of parchaar. If they come to know the truth of pad shed, they would switch to Larivaar. But again I couldn't say anything. Manmukhs are nothing in front of gurmukhs and I don't know why I just get blank when doing vichar with gursikhs. I just don't know and I am also guilty that I couldn't even tell them a single thing about pad shed. Anyways, my point is that having talks with the gursikhs I know didnt benefit much. I don't know what will happen. And even if some gursikhs come and persuade my family, after they go, my family will only say- "these people are rigid and conservative. Don't become a baba like them.", "these people go very deep. We need to live in this society also, we can't do such things." and all sorts of other illogical things. Okay let me stop. BTW, other gursikhs please answer my questions, the specific ones. May guru sahib do kirpa. Bhul chuk maaf sangat Ji. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji ki Fateh!
  2. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! A humble request of Daas to Elder gursikhs on the forum to clear my doubts regarding the prakash of guru sahib at my home. NECESSARY CONTEXT I live in India. My father is the only gursikh in my family. My father, mother, grandmother and I do Nitnem everyday but other members are not much into Sikhi. My family is planning to shift within a year or too and we have made a separate room for guru sahib's prakash. I would like know your opinions on the following- 1) We'll live on the third floor and right now, as per my knowledge, the families who will be living on first, second and fourth floors are Sikhs. However, I am not sure about this. If any manmukhi family starts living on any of the floor and brings meat and alcohol in their homes, so would it lead to beadbi? It's actually not in our hands to choose the new families. 2) We have the fourth floor(for residence) and terrace above our floor(third one) and as it is, people would walk on the floor above guru sahib's prakash room. So does it lead to beadbi? 3) Can we make storage spaces under Sukhasan bed for rumaale and bastars(clothes) of guru sahib. 4) Should the height of pida sahib (where guru sahib is virajmaan) and sukhasan bed be higher than our beds 5) Is degh to be prepared everyday? 6) Light clothes in summer and warm clothes in winter for Guru sahib? Heard this is to be followed but Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Ji didn't agree with this. 7) Guru Sahib bastars to be changed everyday? Is room cleaning once a week fine or everyday? 9) What to do in case noone to do prakash of guru sahib or whole family not at home for 2-3 days? *******These are questions in case all other protocols are followed by my family******** 5) Noone in my family knows how to do prakash except my grandmother. Though she loves reading bani and Kirtan but doesn't focus much on Rehat. She does colour her hair, prepares chicken for other family members but doesn't eat, no Amrit Vela, no keski/dastaar. However, she does Nitnem daily. Also, I am too not an amritdhari gursikh but I am trying to follow Rehat as much as I can like having Dastaar all the time, Nitnem, Larivaar Pehra, not eating anything from outside but still eat from hands of non amritdharis (slowly working on it, trying to learn to cook), gurmat ishnaan and necessary sucham, amritvela dhill sometimes etc etc. But, obviously I am not a Sikh right now. Can we manmukhs do prakash Sewa? 6) Only me and my father are really worried about keeping full satkaar of guru sahib and my family doesn't care much about it. Yes, but still they want. I don't want them to watch films and serials in the lobby near prakash room but I don't think they'll listen. Actually, my father is the only gursikh in my family. Noone cares much and is not willing to sacrifice anything for satkaar of guru sahib. They even don't mind bringing meat home. They don't mind shouting and abusing people on the phone when they are completely audible in the prakash room. Noone wears Dastaar except me and my father. Males come with a small cloth on their head and females with a chunni. I seriously don't want guru sahib to come at home because I know we would only do their apmaan (disrespect) but noone cares to listen to this 16 year old kid. My father too doesn't say much to my grandparents and others when they advocate for something wrong. Anyways, I am trying my best to convince them to have senchiaan but Vaheguru knows what will happen. 7) I personally would want to take hukamnaama and do sehaj Paath from Larivaar saroop only but don't have it virajmaan right now. I have persuaded by grandmother, father and mother to take hukamnaama and do sehaj Paath after having full gurmat ishnaan (including Kes). However, they paid a deaf ear to it. Does this lead to serious beadbi ? 7) I am strictly in favor of Larivaar Saroop of Maharaj and I have encouraged my parents and grandmother to read banis in Larivaar only and with Guru Sahib's kirpa they have started. I clearly said that if we are all able to develop skills then we would have Larivaar saroop only. But, I don't think they'll let it happen. Daas humbly apologizes at the feet of gursikhs for any mistakes. I am fully devoted towards keeping satkaar of guru sahib and would like to know your opinions. Also, please give me some tips how can I convince my family to not have prakash at home. Already had 3-4 long talks with them where noone had any answer of the wrongs and disrespect they did. But still they take it off by saying 'we'll see'. May guru sahib do kirpa. Bhul chuk di maafi Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
