Hi everyone, i am a little late as i was born two years after this forum started but i agree with everyone here.
About bhagat singh, he gained Shaheedi for Bharat. Now you can’t really say that he did it just for Bharat and not for sikhi. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji also gained Shaheedi to protect both hindus and sikhs across what is now india, that’s why he’s called Hind Ki Chaddar. If your saying that sacrificing yourself for Bharat isn’t a sikh thing to do, then you’re basically also saying the same about Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, as they both sacrificed themselves for the freedom of others. That’s what Sikhi is, to protect ourselves and others, to stop the oppressors and free the oppressed. In my opinion that’s why i respect him so much. We basically got to see something the gurus have done, but in our more recent time.
And about both Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh cutting their kesh, Bhagat kabir ji has said whether you keep long hair or shave bald (like the jogis do for ablution) you must love god.
If sacrificing yourself for the freedom of others isnt a basic sikh principle, then idk what is.
