  7. wjkk, wjkf to the best of my knowlegde sikhi doesn't agree with 'child baptism' as is done in many other major world religions. This is because once you have taken amrit you are given the status of the adult, you now have to conduct yourself in a way in which you take full responcibility for your actions. Now whether you're ready to do this at age 11 or age 20, it doesn't make much of a difference... stay in chardi kalaa
  8. wjkk, wjkf when it comes to politics, 99.9% of the time there is always a hidden agenda. No surprises here then :? stay in chardi kalaa
  9. wjkk, wjkf try a different way of tying ur dastaar, it is a crown that should not be easily removed form a knock. i've generally heard that a round keski seems to hold better in physical situations, avoiding any embarissing disrespect to the dastaar. bhul chuk maaf
  10. wjkk, wjkf Noor ji, our gurus had reached the optimum state of spirtuality therefore 'attatchment' wasn't an issue to them BUT they still had piaar & compassion --> don't confuse attatchment with these qualities; they are extremely important for any human being & are overwhelmingly evident in the gursikhs i have been blessed enough to meet. its a difficult balance but you need to learn to live life lead by your head (the hukham of guruji) but also back it up fully with your heart & yes there will be times of laughter & great sorrow but with the grace of Waheguru we all will get through it because we have to - after all we are here due to karam. accept that you are human & have imperfections but let yourself be led by gurujis loving hand... stay in chardi kalaa...
  11. wjkk, wjkf its important that we take notice of things like this - not to spread islamaphobia, but to be aware of the condition of our surroundings. i'm sure that this was the intent behind your post we live in a multi-cultural society & i won't suddenly begin disrespecting the muslim people i know due to this post Jamuka ji, i'm sure that most of SA sangat will go away with the same line of thought. stay in chardi kalaa. wjkk, wjkf
  12. wjkk, wjkf Jamuka ji, that post is an eye opener. this kind of ignorance makes it really hard for me to believe that there was a time when Sikhs, Hindus & Muslims lived side by side peacefully & shared happiness & pains as a community --> Complete respect & acceptance of diversity - none of this 'unbeliever' crap... we're living in the time of kalyug, things will get worse before they can improve bhul chuk maaf
  13. wjkk, wjkf what is the gurus roop if it isn't backed up with the heart of a lion? only when something is under threat, do we realise its importance if we lack oxygen we will inevitably suffocate & our bodies fight for air until the very last moment...sikhi keeps a gursikh alive in this exact way, which is why so many have given up so much to stay true to their guru. waheguru...plz bless your children to have the strength to accept this incomprable gift known as sikhism... stay in chardi kalaa... wjkk, wjkf
  14. wjkk, wjkf i've been told that singhs originally used to tie a black dastaar when they were going to battle & knew they wouldn't return. nowadays though it seems to be just down to personal taste. theres my two pennies worth. bhul chuk maaf
