In today's Rahao Pankti, Satguru ji is saying that people have always need of this and that thing, and wander to get worldly needs fullfilled, sometimes they become someone's servant, sometimes another. Satguru ji, is saying, if you want to fullfill your worldy needs seek the sanctuary of God, who is the treasure of all, who is the giver of naam. Satguru ji, is saying that the Lord first created your sustenance, then you were born. O mortal you should not worry about these worldly needs, God already knows of your needs, so leave your worries; and remember him. If you seek God, then all this worldly goods will come after you, and you will not even have to seek them. Ask from God, his name, ask from God, his rememberance love, Asking like this all your hungers, pains, suffereings will be gone. When Bhai Gurdas ji was returning back towards Amritsar, he visited one of Guru sevak's house, and noticed that sevak was suffering from a terrible disease. Bhai Gurdas ji said, ask Satguru ji to cure your disease. Sevak said, no Bhai ji, I do not want to ask for the cure of this disease, this body is temporary, it will be reduced to ashes sooner or later. If I will ask something from Satguru ji, I will ask name of God. Parmatma, what should I ask for? Long life? I will have to leave this place sooner or later one day. Parmatma, what should I ask for? a son? That son will also leave me one day O Lord. Parmatma, what should I ask for? Wealth? That comes to go, and I will never be fullfilled with it. Parmatma, I should ask for your name, so remembering it, my life purpose will be fulfilled. Parmatma, Give me your name, so that I never forget you even for an instant. Parmatma, You are my Great Giver, Im your beggar, bless me with the your name. The Gift of humility is only found in the house of Guru Nanak. Bless your servant with the gift of naam. Let us single mindedly concentrate on Today's hukamnama. Todays hukamnama is in Sorath Raag, by Guru Arjan Dev ji, Parmatma, you are one, and you are obtained through your own mercy. Everything, all Works, duties, of this world was created by you, Parmatma. The doer of every work. Without you, Parmatma nothing is accomplished. From the five elements of air, water, earth, fire, ether; Parmatma, you created this creation, this human body. There is Only one Parmatma, creating all. Parmatma is not seen, Parmatma is not visible. Through Satguru ji, through Gur shabad, Parmatma is known and seen. Beyond Worlds upon worlds , there is still more and more worlds. In the same way, beyond all, and in all there is Parmatma. For mortals, everything can be described about them. But O Parmatma, I have seen this, that your qualities, your virtues, your description cannot be told. You are beyond words, beyond limits. O Parmatma, doing your simran; When my mind loves you, then Satguru blesses me with your naam. Parmatma's naam destroys all my sufferings, pain. O Parmatma, what is not in your home? Everything is there. Satguru ji, I run around seeking in the ten directions, from people, things, places, I seek only you, Im deluded, broken from you, Please unite me with you. Your virtues are priceless. No one can evalute their worth. Sometimes, In my ardaas, I ask for being the dust of people, but I do not ask to be dust of my enemies, But you O parmatma, you love all. you sustain all, evil or good, you are everyone's. Satguru ji, Through your mercy, I get my sustenance everyday. Satguru ji, I should seek to unite with your holy feet. Satguru ji, your shabad, your updesh, your hukamnama is your holy feet. Satguru ji, you have given me the soap of God's name, with which I clean the filth of my mind, In the Sat Sangat, I seek to remember your name. All Blessings, All Fruits come from you beloved Satguru ji. Mine, Mine, Yours Yours, I should leave this feeling, and should seek to be the dust of all people. Mine, Mine I should say that, only if Parmatma's power was not in every heart, I should say, Tera, Tera, because its all yours, O Parmatma. That day, When I forget you Parmatma, that day my soul is dead. Those who do Parmatma's simran, Parmatma unites them with his own self. Obeying the Guru, the lotus blossoms forth in the heart. When someone does simran of Parmatma's name, with his/her tongue, then that one will come to know the blissful taste of your name. When your name is listened to, with the ears, then the unchanging place is found within. Those who have not found Parmatma, Those who do not have faith in this, they die die away suffering. Parmatma, you are full of virtues, Im forever a sacrifice to you. Those who have come to your sanctuary, your presence, they have found thier true place. You are the true sustainer of all. Creator of air and food. Remembering Parmatma, one is dyed in the color of love. Those who have found the perfect Guru, they are blessed, Fortunate. Guru Nanak Sahib ji is saying to his mother, Aakhaa jeeva Visrai mar jaoo Remembering Parmatma I live, Forgetting I die Parmatma who is present everywhere, who is pervading all places. We should not forget even for an second. Parmatma is forever with us, Why then forget? Those who dispute the updesh, those who have not had love for their Guru, are dying away suffering. Satguru ji doing kirpa, has carried us across the worldy ocean. Those who have made the name of Parmatma, their support of life, their bodies and mind are cooled soothed in perfect peace. Let us come to the sanctuary of Satguru ji, and make our life's purpose fullfilled. Forgive mistakes in translation. Ocean of Mercy, one throughout all ages, Sri Sat Guru Granth Sahib ji, from the Holiness of Harmandar Sahib, in the ambrosial hours of early dawn has blessed us with his Holy Updesh Hukamnama. Satguru ji, True King of all, Sri Guru Amardas ji has given us updesh. In the rahaoo pankti of today, Guru ji is giving us understanding us of the disease of ego. How to get rid of this disease? How this will go away? First, It is necessary to know from where the disease has originated. Satguru ji is saying that do not consider this as an ordinary disease, it exists in subtle form also. Satguru ji has also told that this disease can be cured and its cure/medicine is also within it. Only Satguru ji can treat this disease, Only by being in the presence of Satguru this haumai/ego goes. Just as there are separte doctors for treating heart diseases, eye, ear specialists etc. For the disease of ego, Only Satguru ji is the doctor. Ego/Pride is based on qualities, virtues that person has. The person does pride of that. Kabeer ji is saying, I have nothing in me, Everything that is, is yours only. haumai - ego One should know that we have no qualities in us, all qualities are of God. We do all activities in haumai, Whether good or bad, A person does all deeds in haumai. Even very wise persons, lot of sewadars could not escape the pain of haumai. Even when someone calls someone a sewadar, then the sewadar gets haumai, that Iam sewadar. In this way, even lot of wise and knowledgable people have not escaped from haumai. One Saint who is doing bhagti for 40 days continously without eating. Satguru ji is saying, wht does he eat? People said, we never seen him eating anything. Satguru ji is saying, something he is hungry for. At the end of 40 days, people said lot of drums and celebrations for him will be made. Satguru ji is saying that person is hungry for pride and said not to do any of those activities at the end of the 40 day time. When the person came out at the end, he saw that noone is outside waiting for him. At that very instant he collapsed on the ground, because he didnt get the food of "pride" from people. Satguru ji is saying that one who does pride on his bodily form, on his color, on his works, that person is an insect living in filth. That who does pride on his wealth is a fool and an illiterate when comes to true knowledge. That person who has ego of doing very good things, who thinks of ownself as very good person, Satguru ji is saying that person is far from goodness. Everything is given by God, what is our own? Satguru ji is saying leave all your pride. Leave all these attachments. If one leaves his haumai and pride and comes and sits near the feet of Satguru ji, Satguru ji will for sure do kirpa. Parmatma only is benevolent to his devotees who have left thier ego. Parmatma will turn his back on us, if we stick with our pride and ego. One who is humble, one who has no ego, no pride obtains all blessings. When one says mine, mine, then no works will be accomplished. But when one leaves mine, mine,, all works will be accomplished. When Ravan, he did pride of his possessions, he lost all everything. When Duryodhana did pride of himself, he lost all everything, family, belongings. When Aurangzeb, did pride, he lost everything, he lost his daughter, he arrested his own son in his own fears of losing his empire. Kathakaar is now starting the katha of the hukamnama pankti's Wadhans is the name of Raag, Sri Guru Amardas ji is giving this shabad to us. Now Kathakaar is giving story of a Preacher in US, he went to a class of students, and said there is only one Guru in thier religion. Then one Christian student in the class said, how is this true, you have ten Gurus, and he also named a few of the Gurus, then all the students clapped for that christian student, even sikh students clapped, proving the preacher wrong. The Preacher said, Students, I will give you the answer of this question for sure. Then he picked up one book from the table, and said, how many of you have this book? Every student had the book, The preacher said how is this possible, this book is only one, but you have also this book, you have copies of this book. Then the preacher said, this same way, we have only one Guru, only, Shabad Guru, and ten were the forms of Shabad Guru. The disciple is the consciousness. Ego and God are opposites, They can never be in the same place. We can look at nature, Just as a tree that has sweet fruits(virtues) it bows down, Look at apple trees, mango trees. this same way when we lose our ego, we become humble. In Ego one cannot do seva, Nor can devotional worship be performed when there is ego. One should do devotional worship, thinking as God is doing all. When we see from the viewpoint of our ego's then our whole world gets divided. We think some as low, some as high. In this way seva cannot be done from this viewpoint of ego. Reading Guru Sahib's gurbani, applying this to our life this is the jaap of Guru ji's bani. Not merely reciting, but with understanding of the lessons taught. Earn the word of Guru's Shabad. Do your actions as per Guru ji's words. If one does like this, then one will understand the hukam of parmatma. If we earn a life with faith according to Guru ji's bani, then ego will depart from within. Those who have absorbed themselves in Guru ji's hukam, then Parmatma abides in that person's heart. Satguru ji is saying in all beings there is ego, everyone is being eaten by pride. Through this we go through the cycles of birth and death. Ego is darkness, in which we cannot see the truth. Guru's Shabad is the light, which removes this darkness and we can see the true path. In Ego, we cannot do devotion, nor can we understand hukam. Sahib Sri Guru Amar Das ji, is saying by absorbing Guru's shabad, haumai will go. hukamnama katha of 04/02/2007 ,forgive for mistakes

That person on whom Satguru ji is merciful, Satguru ji gives him updesh (instruction/true teaching/advice/hukam). Hukamnama's rahaa-o line kahaa kara-o jaatee kah kara-o paatee. raam ko naam japa-o din raatee. ||1|| rahaa-o. In Sahib Guru Granth Sahib ji, the word jaatee appears in three different circumstances. It has three meanings 1. yatri/traveller [ As Bhagat Ravidaas ji has mentioned this in one of his shabad in Raag Sorath, "Jo tum tirath, ton hum Jaatee" ] 2. caste 3. To know / to understand learn [As Guru Arjan ji has mentioned this in a shabad in Raag Dhaanasaare. "charan saran naanak daas har har santee ih biDh jaatee." - Ang 677 ] Bhagat Namdev ji has used this word jaatee over here to indicate "caste". In the olden days, when some few people gained understanding and knowledge, they divided people into four castes. Noticing that various people are involved in different types of activities, According to their activity type they named them. 1. Brahman - Those who used to preach and teach, Do relgious ceremonies, give food money donations etc. They wore orange color of combination of red and yellow, representing spiritual consciousness and its transmuting powers. 2. Kshatriya - Those who used to defend the country, who were brave soldiers, warriors. They wore the color of red, symbolizing dynamic power, discipline and assertiveness 3. Vaishyas - They used to be involved with trading/business. Merchants, Responsible for producing food, farming etc. They wore yellow, color of intelligence and initiative. 4. Shudras - They used to do selfless service, seeking no reward for their service. represented by black, they were involved in the duties of all the castes. These were four varnas (divisions) These four were the essential qualities or traits, but as time passed by, the son of shudra, was still called a shudra, even if he/she displayed brave warrior type character. The Kshatriya son was still called a Kshatriya, even though he displayed qualities of cowards. If some fool was born in the house of Brahman, that one still was considered Brahman. Also, Brahman had declared one more thing, that all Religious things will be done by Brahman, and noone else. When Kshtriya had need to do religious ceremonies in his house, he used to look at Brahmnins and wanted them to do it for him. When some thief used to loot the house of the brahman, then Brahmin used to look for help of the Kshtriya. When Kshtriyas needed food, they used to look at Vaishays and think of when his crop will ripen, so that it comes to their house. Same case with shudras. Sadly, Still today when we do something like Akhand Path or some special religious function we seek religious person to do this for us. Even though, Guru Nanak has made all the four varnas(divisions) into one, meaning Guru ji has put all the qualities of the four castes into one person. From Bhai Gurdaas ji's Vaars "Chaar Vaaran Ik Vaaran Karaya" From Four divisions, He created one Division for all. First, the sikh is a shudra, he is to do selfless service, for example do seva of washing utensils at Gurudwara, do seva of cleaning shoes of sangat. Do Seva of making and distributing langar, get wood from the forests etc. Second, Guru ji has said to his sikh, whichever vaaypaar (business) or occupation you want to do in the world, do that. For example, a farmer. Also, do not look for help from another for the upbringing of your family, and from the income you get, give daswand of that to Guru ji. In this way, Sikh is a Vaishayi. Third, Guru ji is saying to his sikh, if some person tries to come and loot your house, if someone comes and tries to harm your family. Do not wait or look for help of Kshatriya, but be yourself a Kshatriya, and fight against the wrong, Become shastardhari, carry weapons with you. Don't let any person try to dominate/ create fear in you/ collecting taxes unrighteously. Be a Kshatriya and for Truth, you will fight. Fourth, Guru ji's sikh is also a Brahmin, Religious person. Do your daily nitnem, Remember God's name. Do not ask for another person to do sukhmani sahib path for you, by giving him some money. Even small children are better then us, they do not ask their friends, take this money and go to my parents and talk sweet words with them. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, our father, we cannot say that in our place someone else should do paath, or ardaas for us, We should ourselves do it, Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is our own parent. If we do not do the above on our own, then we are not perfect sikhs yet. First, we should get our nitnem back in order. seva, self defence skills, honest job. -- Further the castes were divided more into the type of work, each one did, like chaamar (peasants, laboureres, leather workers), jhuliahn*, shemba*, mehra(water carriers),tarkhan(wood worker), Ramgharia, Lohar etc The lower castes were discriminated a lot,and treated very badly in society. But Guru Gobind Singh ji embraced them, gave them lots of love and made them Khalsa. Such is the love of our Guru ji. Shame on people, who recognise castes in pride, calling themselves superior to another. Guru ji gave us the common surnames of Singh and Kaur, eliminating all links to castes. But still prideful or unknowing people show their castes in their names. In Todays Hukamnama, Satguru ji has explained us, that all humans are of one division. We should not associate ourselves with jaat paat caste lineage ancestory. Now if someone wants to say pious people cannot take birth into the family of unpious caste people like of Rakshash tribe. Then think about the life of devotee Prahlaad, who was born in the family of Harnaakash. This applies other way around as well. In the house of God, only those are honored who do simran. Caste will have no significance there. Satguru ji is saying, a person is good or bad, only dependent on his deeds. Caste has no significance. We are fools who have divided ourselves into castes, and calling others lower and others superior. Become like a ant, look at the life of the ant, in one hole, thousands of ants can live. Finding one bit of sugar, they gather all others and eat share it. Stay in Humility, and live a humble life. Let us single mindedly contemplate the hukamnama. aasaa. man mayro gaj jihbaa mayree kaatee. Todays hukamnama in raag aasaa(hope) is by Bhagat Namdev ji. gaj has two meanings 1. elephant 2. metre/ measuring device. jihbaa meaning tongue kaatee meaning 1. scissor. Bhagat Namdev ji is implying that by doing simran of God, I have cut away all the corruption, With my mind measuring the noose of death, and my tongue as the scissors, measuring the noose of death, doing simran, I have cut the noose of death's messenger. Bhagat Namdev ji is saying, Now what do I have to do with caste lineage? Ravidas ji was a chaamar by caste, renouncing maya, absorbed himself in God's name. Satguru ji is saying, that various Bhagats, being low caste, but remembering God's name, were absorbed in God's simran, and obtained honor. The hill rajas came to Guru Gobind Singh ji, and said Guru ji, we will become your khalsa, but please prepare amrit in a separate bowl for us, we are higher caste. Guru Gobind Singh ji did not agree, implying that he created Khalsa for oneness of all humanity. There is no difference in humans, all humans are of one division. From five tats (elements) of (air, earth, fire, water, ether) all humans are created. Now those who are creating this doubts of castes. Ask them which element is in them, that is not in them. Bhagat Namdev is now saying What do I have do with castes? I am absorbed in love with Lords name. When we are absorbed in God's love, we are dyed in the color of God's love. Then it does not matter if someone makes us sit on boiling pot, cuts our body organs, this dye of God's love never wears out. Bhagat Namdev ji is saying absorb yourself in the love of God's name. By Absorbing in God's love, Bhagat Namdev ji is saying then not even one moment we can live without remembering God. O Lord only make me sing your virtues, whereever I go. Kathakaar is now giving an example, He saw one Sikh amrithdhari going to a hindu mandir, he asked him "Why are you going there? " That amritdhari Sikh said "I believe in all Dharmas, Im going there". Then the Kathakaar told him, "No that is not true, I have not seen you going into a mosque, or in a church, then how do you believe in all. Now he is telling, consider a married woman who lives in a neighbourhood, and says I believe in all men of my neighbourhood. Then will that woman be considered a prostitute or a married woman , solely devoted to his husband ? So gurmukh pyara be devoted to only one, Be devoted only to Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji" So many Gursikhs are questioning how much simran we should do or how much bani we should read. Now Satguru ji is answereing this question in this hukamnama. aath pahar / Twenty four hours a day one should do simran/ bhakti of God. Twenty four hours, be thankful to Parmatma. su-inay kee soo-ee rupay kaa Dhaagaa. My needle is gold, and my thread is silver rupay - silver. Golden needle meaning the shabad, and the silver thread meaning the consciousness My consciousness is following the Guru's Shabad, as the silver thread follows the Golden needle, Bhagat Namdev ji's mind is forever attached to Guru's shabad. Vahiguroo jee ka khalsa, Vahiguroo jee ki fateh. hukamnama katha of 03 February 2007 forgive any errors.

The reason for all these anxieties and stress is because people have broken thier contact with God. That child who stays within the lines marked by their parents, stays safe. Their Parents are responsible for what happens to their child. Those children who cross the lines and are not obedient, they encounter so many various troubles in thier life. Same way, those sikhs of the Guru, who stay within the lines marked by thier Gurus, and are obedient to their Guru, those who stay in the hukam of the Guru, and do simran, the Guru is responsible for thier welfare. The Guru will take care of them. Today's hukamnama in Bihaagraa Raag, by Sri Guru Ram Das ji is explaining us that those who have not attached themselves to Gurus Teaching, they are wasting their lives. Some people have ages like 50yrs, some 18, some 80, some 67, but if they have not attached themselves to Guru, they are still children. They have not learnt the true way of life. Those gurmukh pyaray even though their age is very less, they do not attach or focus their love / consciousness on anything else other then simran of God's name, on the virtues qualities of God. Satguru ji is saying those are moorakh's, who do not do God's devotional simran Those who have attached to, those are caught in the chains of maya. Those who are focussed on collecting more and more wealth, property; who are attached to their relatives, parents, friends, spouses, those who are attached to thier children and grandchildren and so on. Satguru ji is saying that those who are caught in this enticing maya of world, In the very end of their lives they will regret and repent, crying they will leave this world. dho-ee - access, admittance They will not get their place of rest, their access to God's court sachkhand. Such people are revelling in their useless affairs, gossip disgracing others, lying, false praising, those on whose tongue is nothing but filth, following thier own minds, not doing simran, engaging in useless activities. In the dargeh of God, only the truthful are honored, truthful beings only can sit near God. The False will not find entry there. Those beings who listen to the advice of Guru, they are saved from this corruptions. Dhuni Chand has collected a lot of wealth and is engrossed in Wealth. Satguru ji, took some of his belongings, and told him that, Dhuni chand, we will give you this in the next world. Then Dhuni Chand understood this lesson, that Satguru ji was trying to teach him. That nothing will go with him to the next world. Satguroo ji is there for us at all times. Never does he get tired talking, giving us updesh, nor does he say I dont have time for you, nor does he ignore. Such a beloved Satguru we have. Satguru ji is the only true companion anyone has, our relatives, friends, etc so on are all false. Our Satguru gives us the true name of the Lord, on whose support the entire existence relies. why leave such a satguru, why not do simran? why attach to another? Those who have come to the sanctuary, those who have absorbed in them the teachings of Satguru. Satguru ji has given them the naam. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Ram Das ji, is telling us do not be lazy, do not delay, do not hesitate to chant meditate on God's name. At the very last moment you won't be able to remember God, who knows how long will there be breath in this body. Here's an example, to dig a well, and use that water to extinguish the fire which is burning the house right now. It is the same case as delaying in remembering God's name, leaving it for later and later, at the very last moment till death comes, or say I will do simran when Im 60, but who gives you the guarantee that you will live upto that age. You do not Know when your breath will leave you, so do not delay in remembering God's name. Just as hindus have 10 festival, blessed days, like the dusshera, pooranmashi, moon eclipse etc etc, Satguru ji is saying to his sikh, that moment when you remember God's name, that day, that moment is blessed. That day for us is very bad, when we are broken, unconscious of our Lord, let that day be any day, any special occasion, Gurpurab, Gur Gaddi divas. O my soul, Guru Ram Das ji is making me understand that the messenger of death or troubles will not come near , if you remember God's name. God is at all times with us, seeing, listening to our every deeds that we are doing. God knows everything. God knows how many ants there are on this earth, How many humans, animals there are. How many trees vegetation there is. how many stars, God knows everything, is seeing everything, every moment, God is looking and God knows and God is forever merciful to all. But just as in school , some children they do not listen to masters teaching, and fail in thier test, in the same way those beings who do not listen to the Teaching of Guru, they fail in life, lose their human lives. Those beings earn sins paap those people who are obedient to Guru, they are not troubled by anxieties, troubles. Those whose minds are pure, those who have learnt to live in the hukam of the Guru, they have fear of nothing. They have no fear from relatives, death, or maya, anyone. God's name is without fear, God is without hatred for anyone. When our mind is absorbed in God, who is without fear, without hatred, then the corruption of kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, ahankaar they will get tired of troubling us, and we do not again wander in doubt. Even if maya is thrown towards them, even if Lot's of wealth, luxuries, very beautiful women/men come to them, they do not waver ever from God's name. To them the whole world is their family, they have no pride of anything. Satguru ji is saying those beings who have absorbed themselves in God's name, the fives theives get tired to trouble them again. Small children who see a fire, find it amusing, and go to put thier hand in it, Just as a mother knows and takes care of this by keeping an eye on the child at all times. In the same way, the sikh of the Guru, is at all times protected by Satguru ji, Satguru ji takes care of his sikh and prevents him from falling down into something which will cause his sikh pain. No doubt, the sikh must be lured by the maya of the world, but Satguru ji again and again saves his sikh from such things. Satguru ji says to his Sikh, do not go there, they will burn you, these attachments of maya, they will bite you, as a snake bites its enemy to death. Then just as a child of the mother then cries, when the Mother takes him away from the luring fire. In the same way, the sikh of the Guru will cry also, and will feel sad within his/her heart, As the sikh learns and grows, having true faith in Satguru ji, and will realize that his/her Good is in the words of the Guru. Like a blind person does not know if he will fall in a ditch, but a gurmukh person saves him, Same way, Satguru ji saves his sikh from falling in the ditch. Satguru ji is saying those who have served the Guru, those who have did simran, all their corruption is gone. In sikh dharm, there are two main things, seva and simran. Seva can be that which we have to do make and realize those who are wandering to bring them on the path of sikhi, Those who by reason of caste, poor, illiteracy reasons, do not have knowledge of sikhi, we have to do their seva and tell them there is no difference in you and me, come lets walk on the path of the sikhi. Simran is of such a Satguru who gives us this true advice. We think that we are serving Satguru ji, but it is Satguru ji who is doing our seva. Satguru ji who gives us sunlight, who gives us air to breathe, who has given us night time to rest, who has given us so much that there is no account. Who has given us food, water to drink. Satguru ji is doing a lot of seva for us. ik araaDhi-aa means single mindedly worship focus on the true lord. Sometimes our mind thinks of people, places, and various conversations, thoughts, sometimes we think of astrologers, sometimes of gods and goddesses like brahma vishnu, parvati etc etc Ik araahdhi-aa means single-mindedly devote our mind to the one Lord and do not think of anything else. Satguru ji is saying those who have devoted themselves to God, single mindedly , they do not have any more desires left. Those who have remembered Satguru ji, those who have served satguru, they have realized the true home of God. They have become one with God. Those who have meditated on God, God has given them abundant blessings, From the very begnning of time, this is thier written destiny. Jan 31st, Todays(Yesterday's) hukamnama in Raga Sorath, (melody sung during the night) Gurbani of Bhagat Bheekan jee. We mortals are filled with diseases of body, mind and social illnesses. If we look at the lives of Satgurus, then we will find many examples where Satguru ji has rid us of our diseases of body, mind like kaam, krodh, ahaankaar and of society like caste system, male/female bias, sati etc. Our doctors, if we go to treatment to them, instead of curing our diseases, we find that sometimes our disease has increased even more. same way, many "doctors" or fake preachers who have stolen the gurbani of our Gurus and started their own fame and looting people. If we goto them, our diseases will increase more. These fake preachers have just memorised some lines of gurbani, and started a following. Like many doctors in rural villages, who have only knowledge of very few medicines and call themselves "know-all". One day Guru Nanak Dev ji, became very quiet and his parents thought, his son who used to say so sweet sweet words is all quiet, we should call a physican. But what can a physcian know the rog(disease) of the Guru ? Feeling the pulse and the forehead, the physican couldnt find any illness, and looking at Guru ji said, that Guru ji is himself the World physican. Just as we go for treatment of a specific organ to a specific doctor, like for ears, we goto ears specialist. In the same way, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji is the specialist of all. Bhai Gurdaas ji in connection to this, has said that Guru ji is the physican of all three worlds, of all bodily diseases, illnesses of minds and society. Guru's Sikh who wants a cure, sits in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib ji's Gurbani, asks Guru ji for the medicine for his disease. Then how does Guru ji rid his sikh of disease? it is through Guru ji's ambrosial glance of mercy that we are cured. Then our biggest disease that is of the birth and death, this is cured first by Guru ji. Guru ji takes this pain away. In Sukhmani Sahib, the very first line stating the rog that goes away, through rememberance of God, is of Birth and death. prabh kai simran garabh na basai. First that disease is gone, then like a specialist doctor who can tell which disease, the person got, checking pulse or after looking at face. Same way, Guru ji also knows which disease we got, by just looking at face. Guru Gobind Singh ji noticed Bahadur Shah's eyes becoming filthy, looking over the young daughter of Jawahar Singh. Guru Gobind Singh ji, gave a coin to one of his soldier and said bring some "sauda" from the market. The Soldier came back and said, Guru ji, this coin is counterfiet, even though there is kalma (muslim prayer) written over it. Then Guru Gobind Singh ji, showed that Bahadur Shah, even though he read the kalma and recited prayers, and sitting in presence of Guru ji, his heart was counterfiet as still was affected by Kaam, Guru ji with his kirpa drishti (ambrosial glance of mercy) then cured him of his disease of kaam and put him on the straight correct path. In this way, Guru ji first cures us of cycle of birth and death, through amrit drishti (ambrosial glance of mercy). Then he cures us of our diseases kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, ahaankaar through his kirpa. We as sikhs should do our best to seek guidance by sitting in the presence of Guru ji and absorbing his advice within. Guru ji has given us beautiful hukamnama, let us absorb this hukamnama within us and make our lives successful with one pointed concentration of mind and body, let us focus on Guru ji's updesh Satnaam Sri Vahiguroo Satnaam Sri Vahiguroo In Sorath Raag, Bhagat Bheekan ji, born in Lucknow is giving us this pure holy bani. In history it is written, Bhagat Bheekan ji first was born in a muslim family, done sangat of Vairagi Sadhus. But from the two shabads of Bhagat ji, found in Guru Granth Sahib ji, we do not find any muslim words in them. There are no islamic words. Nor in the shabads are any inferences to say that Bhagat ji left his family and became vairagi. In olden times, there used to be stages of human life activity, dependent on the age. Brahmachari (Celibate - gather knowledge) Till age 25 grisht (householder) Age 25- 50 van vast (forest dweller) till 70 sanyassi (renunciate) Usually God was remembered in the forset dweller stage. But Guru ji has said, who can know when we will leave this world. who knows if we will live till so many years. We are depended on our dam , ( we are called aadami, meaning if the dams( " breaths") aa(come), we are aadami. Otherwise we die.) We should not think that we will start to jap naam after age 50 and also not be lazy to do it. Guru ji is saying, we can do all things even while being a householder. Preaching, renunciate, simer naam can only be done while we live as a householder. We should not wait while we are old, that we will start to simer naam. Bhai Gurdas ji, in this connection is saying, Like Just when a house has caught fire, it is not possible for us to dig a well, and pour water from it onto the burning fire. Its too late to do that. Bhai Gurdas ji, giving another example, like when an enemy is attacking your house, then it is too late to learn gatka, how to fight with the sword, or to learn to use gun or weapon. It is not possible to fight the enemy then. For example, it is not possible for a traveller who fell asleep for the entire night, to catch upto his fellow travellers who have already left during the night for the journey ahead. It is not possible for us to live our life in worldly affairs of maya, and get entangled in them, and then at the last moment remember raam. If we spend our life in sleep, in worthless affairs, It is too late to remember raam at the last moment. If one will spend his entire life in the affairs of maya, and say in old age I will do simran of parmatma. Bhagat Bheekan ji is saying at that time your body will become very weak, without energy, and your hair that is black now will become white like milk. Tell me then how will you remember parmatma (God) then?, then when you can't even read or see with your eyes clearly. Your body having become so very weak then, how will you then be able to wake up at amrit vela from your bed? In your young age you might have travelled very far on your small small legs, but when you will be old, even a jar of water that is lying nearby, will feel to you like lying several miles away? how will you remember God then? So, O beloveds of the Guru, Satguru ji is telling us this, that in old age, tears(water) will flow from your eyes, weak will be your body, your kes (hair) will be milk white. So now we saying that in old age we will do simran? Even the government gives us retirement around 60 years, considering us not useful to do work, and send us home. When we will not be of any use to work, not of any use to your family, not of any use to anyone, then how can you be useful or apply yourself to simran? Even then, Dont worry, Satguru ji is saying keep hope to those who are already old, there are examples of ppl who brought their life to the correct path in thier old age. This is for hope to those who are already old. They have focussed their consciousness on the Lord and become gurmukh. But this hukam updesh is for those, who are saying that at the time of old age, they will do simran. Satguru ji though is strengthing this point to those who are young, and are not confined to living in beds, and have healthy bodies. They are guiding us through this description of Bhagat Bheekan ji. At that time, your throat will not be able to speak as well. You will want to say something, but some other word will come out. When you won't even be able to speak in the correct way, then how will you do recite the shabad? O soul, what will you do then?? O soul, then you will have to go into different life forms after death? What to do then, O soul? When we become old, we lose our voices, we want to say something and something else comes out. quoting Bhagat Kabeer ji "That you have to do tommorrow, Do it today, that you have to do today, do it now" O my beloved Lord, O my Beloved Raam, If you become my doctor curing my disease, O Satguru ji you are my perfect complete Physician. When you see someone who is ahaankari(egoistic), seeing someone who is lobi (greedy), seeing someone who is kaami (desire/lust) seeing someone who has krodh(anger) in his heart O Satguru ji, when you see someone who is attached(moh) to family. Satguru ji, with your ambrosial glance all these 5 diseases are cured. Satguru ji (says), jo jo disai, so so rogi whoever is seen, that one is diseased. rog rahat mera Satguru Jogi mera Satguru jogi is without these diseases(rog) Bhagat Bheekan ji is saying, O Paramatma, you cure your devotees. For example, Guru Gobind Singh ji, saved Bhai Joga Singh when he noticed he became kaami, he cured him of his kaam. Guru ji disguised himself as a mace-bearer and started guarding the house of the prostitute to save his devotee from hell. Joga Singh tried to enter the house four times during the night but had to turn back as he ran into the mace-bearer every time. He set out for Anandpur. He sought forgiveness for his folly when reached the court of the Guru. another instance when Guru ji noticed his sikh becoming lobhi, he gave this updesh. hak praya Naanka us sooar us gai Do not keep your eyes on others rights property wealth, its like eating pork by a Muslim and a cow by a hindu. Another instance, when Chandan Kavi, who became egoistic about his poems. Guru ji asked Bhai Dhanna to do the vaikhya of meanings of his poem, which destroyed the ego of Chandan Kavi. Another instance, is in the life of Sri Guru Harkishan Sahib ji, when Guru ji enlightend a moorakh to do the vaikhya of gita. Bhagat Bheekan ji, is saying, gurmukh pyaria, you are proud of your 5 senses of eyes, sound,.. These five will become weak in old age. Water will flow from your eyes, body weak, pains and aches will start, throat will become tight, aches of the heart, When your body will start to feel like burning? then how will you remember the Lord? Kathakar is saying, There is another thing though to be noted here, Those who have obtained the Lord in thier young life, when they become old, they will not expereince these diseases in old age. If one looks at the life of Baba Deep Singh ji, at the age of 80 years, they had very sharp eyesight, was a warrior full of strength in old age. One can also look at the Life of Guru Amardas Ji, who did seva of carrying water for Guru Angad ji for so very many years every single day. whether storm or nice breezy. Nothing stops a gursikh from doing seva of his Satguru ji. They had strength, The reason for this is that they did simran of Parmatma. Bhagat Bheekan ji is trying to make us understand, that there is so much pain in old age, that only one who is old knows of it. and that we wont be able to remember our parmatma then. We should remember Parmatma now, while we are still young. har kaa naam amrit jal nirmal ih a-ukhaDh jag saaraa. If you enshrine the har kaa naam in your heart, then you will be cured of all diseases There is no other cure. Kathakar is now giving example of some ppl in peshawar, who declared that there is new sarovar originated here, whoever takes bath here, they will be cured of all diseases. They even put a pricey ticket on it to get entry. But those who took bath there, nothing was cured. Another example in Himachal Pradesh, they said, there is a warm spring discovered here, saying that whoever drinks this water, will be cured. But noone was cured of anything. Even after drinking drums of water filled with it. Satguru ji is saying drinking water, diseases are dispelled, but that water is the ambrosial name of God. Dukh Bhanjan tera Naam Pain Disease Sorrow destroyer is your Name, O Lord. Satguru ji has given us this updesh in so very many places, that the name of God is the dispeller of all Diseases. Satguru ji is saying, Remember the name of God, sprinkle it on you and your family, and protect it. Nanak Dukhia Sabh sansar. Satguru ji is saying everyone is diseased, you can share/talk about your diseases with others, but they themselves are diseased, it can happen also that their disease you may catch. Only the naam is curer of all diseases. Satguru ji please do kirpa on us, and bless us with your naam. Today's hukamnama is Kirpa of Satguru ji on us. On that mortal, upon whom the Lord has become kind, that mortal recieves the updesh(true advice) from Satguru ji. that blessed person who becomes eager to listen to the words of Satguru ji, to that person words of the Guru seems very sweet. In the rahaa-o pankti(line) of today's hukamnama, at sundar, manmohan piaaray sabhoo maDh niraaray ||1|| rahaa-o Nothing else matters for that person, to whom the Guru's words are nectar sweet. Nothing affects that person. That person renounces his haumai(ego), and devotes own life lovingly to Guru ji. Fools became Wise, Wicked became Virtous through hukam of Satguru ji. In Today's hukamnama, Satguru ji has told us that words of our Lovable Husband God, are the very form of amrit nectar. a(Not) + mrit(Death) = Without Death, Eternal Many Many places, Satguru ji has told us that the words of our Lord are amrit and yes those who absorb the words of the Lord in their heart also become amrit. Bodily death has come to one and all, Vahiguroo ji has said that everyone has their turn, everyone will be separated. Kabeer ji is saying I shall not die as the rest of the world dies, for now I have met the life-giving Lord. ||1||Pause|| this meaning that kabir ji has absorbed the words of the Lord in his heart, and has been united with the Lord. Kabir ji and the undying Lord are one and the same and forever alive. raaj na chaaha-o mukat na chaaha-o man pareet charan kamlaaray. Satguru ji is saying, that neither the pleasure of ruling kingdoms , pleasures of maya, nor the pleasure of mukat(liberation) are sweet only beholding , having the sight of the Lord is sweet. All other tastes and pleasures are not comparable at all. Only the name of the Lord is sweet, rest all worldy goods are compared tasteless. these are sweet sweet words from Guru ji to those who do simran guru ji has also said words to those who don't simran. for example, Guru ji has said to those who don't do simran, their noses will be cut. Those who love maya, are said as dumb, blind. and those who follow the advise of their own minds, they have been called manmukh. These words may seem harsh sour words, but in reality this words are also amrit roop. If we listen to those words, and follow the advice and abstain from the corrupted activities, then we will find these words are amrit roop for us. When our body becomes weak, we goto doctor, the doctors sees some deficiences in us, and gives us medicine, when we eat that sour medicine, we become well. In the same way, when we goto Guru ji, Guru ji will see our deficiences, we will find Guru ji saying sour words to us, but when we apply the advice of the sour words on our lives, we will really find that those words of Guru ji are amrit roop and is our true medicine. For example, Kauda Rakshash, when he listened to the words of Guru Nanak Dev ji, the words were sour to him, but when he applied those words, it became amrit roop to him. Lord does not how to speak sour words, all words of Lord are amrit roop. This way all of gurbani is amrit roop, absorbing within we become also amrit roop. Satguru ji is giving us advice in hukamnama, that O lovable, look within your heart, and see what deficienies you have and get its cure in gurbani. let us all absorb the hukamnama from Guru ji Vaahiguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaahiguroo Jee Kee Fateh In Raag dayvganDhaaree , Dhan Dhan Guru Arjan Sahib ji is giving us this updesh. amritaa pari-a bachan tuhaaray. In a shabad, in Raag Sarang, Guru ji has said, O Lord, the worldly songs and thier dances, let them not enter my ears, Lord, Now only your shabad Im in love with, It is amrit ambsorial nectar form for me. Vahiguroo Vahiguroo Vaahiguroo No doubt there is lot of corruption , filth to see in this world, but Satguru ji has adviced us to not see this gand mand(corruption) with our eyes, nor do we hear all this corruption. When we start friendship with someone, we start first with sweet words. For so many so many years we have been friends, but when we speak one two sour words, our friendship comes to end of so very many many years. This way, Satguru ji is giving us updesh, that this sweet sweet bani, gives true peace sukh to all. Satguru ji is saying, as you walk on this path also speak sweet sweet words to one and all. When a Crow speaks, noone likes that voice, But when a cuckoo (Koel) sings, everyone gets bliss. Satguru ji is saying, speak sweet sweet words to all, and make your life like the koel. Don't live a corrupt life like the crow. Now Kathakar is giving an example of a story from the life of Guru ji, Guru ji heard one baby crow saying Ka Ka "alot" from the crow nest in the tree, Guru ji got one Singh to get that crow down to him. Guru ji twisted the neck of that baby crow. Guru's Singh ji, asked Guru Gobind Singh ji, O Guru ji we have come from so very far to hunt, just to hunt for this small baby crow? What is the reason for this Sachay Patshaah? Guru ji said that this baby crow used to be in our sangat, but used to speak very (Korha) sour words, whenever anyone used to ask for pani, parsaada, or dal in langar, he used to speak very sour words, then one day a gursikh, told him "What Ka Ka your doing all the time, remaining in the Guru's Sangat, you havent learnt anything". For this reason, he was born as a crow. Now (Guru ji) have liberated him from this Crow joon(incarnation) at sundar manmohan pi-aaray sabhhoo maDh niraaray. ||1|| rahaa-o. at meaning, beant, without any limit Manmohan meaning, man (mind) mohan (enticer). madH - in, within Parmatma is infinitely beautiful, the enticer of the mind and whatever the Creator has made is also very beautiful. In Todays Hukamnama we have been given a very valuable lesson. What is considered Beautiful? and what is considered not? Kathakar is saying, Let us ask Guru Granth Sahib ji on this. Satguru ji is saying is those who follow their minds they are karoop. Even in their sleep and dreams they are not in peace. ka - as prefix, gives a negative effect, bad, not good. sa - good, beauty roop - form Maha - Great MahaKaroop they are, forever in sorrow they are, who are these? Those who do various types of gossip, saying wrong things about others, making others feel bad, those who have filthy eyes. Satguru ji is saying to believe this, one who has a good beautiful body, even has very fair skin, but Satguru ji is saying if that person doesn't do simran, then consider that person as MahaKaroop, with cut body parts. Its like considered as as the child of a prositute, even if that person wears good clothes, good body, still everyone gives no respect, because its child of prositute. Satguru ji is saying those who do simran, even if their bodies have got so very many deformites, consider them as the most beautiful. Kathakar is now saying that now we should judge beauty from this lines of guru ji. Satguru ji Today has given us this updesh words, now we should think about this, and imbue ourselves in the love of the Lord, Only this is pleasing and beautiful to God. that soul that imbues itself with the qualities of the Lord, that soul is the most beautiful. Bhagat Kabeer ji is saying, aval alah noor upaa-i-aa kudrat kay sabh banday. ayk noor tay sabh jag upji-aa ka-un bhalay ko manday. ||1|| Everyone is formed from Parmatma Allah, each every one is of Parmatma. From one light of the lord, all originated, who is good or bad? The creator is in the creation, and the creation is in the creator. Sabh may jot, jot hai soi In everyone is your light, you are that light. Being in all, Parmatma is enjoying all, but also is detached from all...watching the drama. raaj na chaaha-o mukat na chaaha-o man pareet charan kamlaaray. Satguru ji is saying this line to those sikhs who are on the path, and are bewaring of them that the pleasures of kingdoms, for example, if any moghul ruler like Jahangir tells one to leave your path ,and gives you the kingdom, Guru ji is telling us that such rule of kingdoms are useless. mukat na chaaha-o That mukat which you want is liberation from maya and entanglements, that mukati is liberation from corruption of kaam, krodh, ahankaar.. That is jivan mukat who is not entangled in any of these. Satguru ji said to Bhai Maan Singh do you want forever the rule of heavens, do you want forever immortality? do you want forever mukti from death, Bhai Maan Singh ji said, that separation from which I have suffered from so long Satguru ji, unite me with those Lotus feet of yours. Kathakar is now telling us what those Lotus Feet are. Those Lotus Feet of Satguru ji, is the Shabad of Satguru ji. The updesh of Satguru ji is the Lotus Feet. how should our (preet)love with Satguru ji? It should be like that of the fish with water, Guru Nanak Sahib ji is saying,, love your Satguru, like water in milk become one with eachother. barahm mahays siDh mun indraa mohi thaakur hee darsaaray. ||1|| Kathakar is now telling that these days, there are so many books on the market with mantra yantra etc that seek to please the gods shivji, brahma, vishnu etc. and also in those books there are some few lines selected from Guru Granth Sahib ji also included. Only a select few lines of gurbani are included. Kathakar is saying that this is not good. He is saying that consider the Gurbani as one big mountain of (mishri) sugar sweet. And one who eats a small peice of it, says only this small peice of mishri is good, rest is not good. Kathakaar is saying this is wrong. All of gurbani form, every word is same amrit roop, sweet. Knowledge giving bani. Kathakaar is saying that we should not seek sant mat or seek pakhandi babas. Should be careful of them. If we seek them it means that we are broken from Gurbani. Satguru ji is saying in this pankti, that these brahma, muni, shivji, sidh, indraa (king of god) seek do not these. A gursikh that gets such bliss from reading from Shabad, he does not get those from any of these, nor from any mukti, or kingdoms of heavens, None of these are equal to the shabad of Guru ji. Guru Arjan Sahib Maharaj ji is saying that all brahma, shivji, vishnu, seek not them, but the sight of the Lord. mun - silent sage deen du-aarai aa-i-o thaakur saran pari-o sant haaray. Kathakaar is now giving the example of a lady, who went to one mahapurush and said, I want to make you my Guru, and that person said, before who was your guru. The lady said that Guru died, the person asked and before that? The Lady said, I had another Guru before him but he also died. Meaning that we should not seek these human Gurus, let us go in the sanctuary of Shabad of Guru Granth Sahib ji, our Eternal Guru. another story he is saying, One day a gurmukh pyara asked, if some person says this bani is false, how will you prove to the other person that it is true? In Gurbani there are so very many thoughts and contemplations to improve our lives here, So if some fool, closing his eyes comes to us, and tells us that the sun does not rise, then how can we explain that fool? But if some knowledgable person asks us, if he doesnt understand some line from Gurbani, we can ofcourse help him to understand that. Many Many Many knowledgable people from so very many faiths for the past 500 years have tried to find faults and doubts in Gurbani. But noone has ever or could find any fault with it. The thought of Gurbani is very advanced to us, much more then us, 500 years more then us. Guru ji who told us about Tobacco and to be careful of it, back 500 years ago, It is Today that Scientists are realizing the harmful effects of it today Science is telling us that there are many suns and planets. But Guru Nanak Sahib ji has told us this 500 years ago, that there are crores of earths, Suns etc. Back in the day, we considered it fiction, that there would ever be a airplanes that would be a able to carry so many people from here to there. But now it is a reality. Meaning, Wake up now, Satguru ji is giving you this knowledge, by having this knowledge, you will become 500 years advanced ahead of the world. O Satguru ji, Growing weary now, I have come in your sanctuary now. kaho naanak parabh milay manohar man seetal bigsaaray. ||2||3||29|| Listening to Guru's shabad, meeting the Lord, my mind has become carefree in bliss. Vaahiguroo Vahiguroo Vaahiguroo Vaahiguroo ji ka Khalsa, Vaahiguroo ji ki Fateh. katha translation of Jan 31st ,and Feb 1st In my own words, forgive any errors.

This shabad is on Ang 727, this is one of the two shabads coming on this ang. The Second beautiful shabad is "Khoob teri pagree, mithay teray bol" Beautiful is your turban, sweet your words. Those who speak sweet words, these can be the qualities of Guru, God. Everyone loves God, because God is and speaks sweet. Kathakaar is now telling an story from the life of Namdev, and explaining this second shabd. Namdev and his wife, after cleaning clothes in the river, got tired carrying the clothes back. Namdev thought of this of his Lord, O lord, we do not ask for wealth, please give one horse, so we can carry our clothes back. It is recorded in history, that namdev was blessed with many darshans of God, in various kautaks of God. It was the time of Moghul's rule, and many people feared them because they were opressors. At that time, one Moghul horse rider called out on Namdev, and asked "who are you?" Namdev said, " Iam Namdev, people call me naama" Rider asked " What do you do? " Namdev said, "I wash peoples clothes, this is my honest living" Rider said " I dont know(care) about your work, Look at this, my horse has given this baby horse, Pick this up, and carry on your shoulders and bring it to my home" Bhagat Namdev being afraid of the moghul, picked up the horse and started walking. Namdev asked, Moghul Sahib, how long is this journey? Im old man, I will get tired and this baby horse pony can fall and it will get hurt. Rider Said "The journey is very long, but you will have to keep going, It is very difficult to reach there, But I will take you go there" Then as they talked more sweetly like this, namdev ji understood the mystery of this drama of Lord and said "halay yaaraaN halay yaaraaN khusikhabree" amazing friend amazing friend, you have said very beautiful news. "bal bal jaaN-o ha-o bal bal jaaN-o." I am a sacrifice, a devoted sacrifice, a dedicated and devoted sacrifice, to You. You are playing such games with me, O Lord, Im a sacrifice to you, a sacrifice. Then Lord started smiling little at namdev. Namdev ji said "O Lord, you have given me a beautiful forced labour" Lord asked "what about it Namdev?" Namdev ji said "neekee tayree bigaaree aalay tayraa naa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o. " Forced labour to You is so beautiful, O Lord, before I was upset a little, but your service is very exalted O Lord, Your Name is great and exalted. "kujaa aamad kujaa raftee kujaa may ravee. " Now, O Lord, You have adorned this form of a moghul, tell me this, from where have you come, Where have you been, and where are you going? Lord is saying then, "davaarikaa nagree raas bugo-ee. ||1|| " davaar - doors, place davarikaa is also name of a place in which Krishna used to reign. "O Namdev, this body village, with the dwars I come through and go through this, this is my home" Now Namdev is saying "khoob tayree pagree meethay tayray bol." Beautiful is your turban! And so sweet is your speech. aspat gajpat narah narind. You are the Lord of the sun, Lord of the elephants, Lord of people, Lord of gods and goddesses, the King of all. naamay kay savaamee meer mukand. ||4||2||3|| You are also the Lord and Master of Naam Dayv, You are the King, the Liberator of all. ||4||2||3|| Such a wonderful game you are playing with me O Lord. The Lord then saying, O Namdev, what are you asking for a lowly thing as a horse, I have given you my name, one who has the name, what else could he desire, naama. In Today's Hukamnama, Namdev ji is doing the greatness of Naam in the shabad below. Kathakar is now doing the Katha of the hukamnama, the first part of the above shabad on ang 727 Khundkaaraa - Three meanings below Baadshaah(worldy ruler), Paatshaah(God, Lord of all Universe, the keeper of everyone's honor), support or anchor O Lord Iam blind, and your name is my support. O Paatshaah, you are my support. You keep everyone's honor. You are our true king. Please do mercy on me. Namdev, when he went to a temple, the Brahmins called him sudra low caste, and beat him out of the temple. When Namdev sat at the backside as he started reciting the chant of Lord's name, so and so the face of the temple started turning towards Namdev. The Lord turned his back toward the egoists and embraced namdev. If anyone goes there to see that temple, still the fool Brahmins, have not let Namdev enter the temple, they have kept the idol of Namdev outside. And when asked why it is outside, they said he is sudra, low caste. maskeen - two meanings one who remains silent, one who is humble. Im poor lowly meek, I have no support but your name. The protector of the poor is only you Lord. Guru Nanak Sahib ji went to the house of Poor Bhai Lalo, but did not goto the house of Malik Bhago. But Today's Preachers they normally goto the house of rich people. Rare one asks the poor these days.O Lord you are merciful, you are gracious, you see the poor and bless him with kindness. You are generous and fullfiller of desires of people. haajraa - famous hajoor - world dar - outside and inside pays - front ( back ) toon maneen - all world believes in you. You are famous in the world, outside inside, front back you are present, whole world believes worships you.You are the forgiver of sinners, river of life, giver of all gifts, you are the highest Lord. You gave eyes, ears, hands and feets, tongue to recite your naam. Can anyone give this ? Only you O Lord can give this to us. You are the Wealthiest, Your treasures are exhaustless, people get tired of receiving your gifts, such a great giver you are. You are the greatest donor. There is noone like you, O Lord. What can I say to praise you O Lord,Your praises are infinite, My wisdom is so small, How can I think about your greatness O Beloved Lord. So many are singing your praises O Lord, there are so very very many, How can I think of them all? There are countless ones praising you, O Lord. You are the knower of all our thoughts and You are the wisest of the wise. How can I think of your virtues O Lord, your Virtues have no end.You are presiding over countless thrones O Lord, How can I think of your greatness, Your treasures are filled with countless gems and jewels, How am I to think of your Treasures? As I understand you O lord, so do I say, you are naamay's merciful Lord. Bless me with your mercy. Hukamnama of 30/01/2007 Tuesday , Ang 727 katha translation in my own words, forgive any errors.

People's make palaces of their Ego, based on their hopes of a very long life. Ego is present in very subtle states. The powerful people display their ego's by oppressing the poor. Guru Gobind Singh ji wanted to show Bhai Nand Lal Singh, the presence of the ego even in subtle stages. Bhai Nand Lal Singh ji, before starting any task or work, he would goto have darshan of Guru Gobind Singh ji. One day, Bhai Nand Lal ji had to do some work, he went to do darshan of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He went to see Guru ji, and came in front of Guru ji's door, and started knocking on his door. He said, "Iam Nand Lal, I wanted to go do some work, so i want to do your darshan first." Guru ji told him that the "he" who wanted to do darshan is the subtle ego. Nand Lal ji understood this. Next time, Nand Lal ji said, "This is your humble servant Nand Lal, who wants to do your darshan". Again, Guru ji said, the ego is not yet finished. Ego, is thinking its humble and and has pride about it, that Iam humble. Now, Nand Lal ji had lot of Vaairag, love, detachment, he started crying in front of Guru ji's door. He didnt know what to do. Guru asked, who is crying there in front of the door. Now, Nand Lal ji said, i don't know who it is Guru ji, someone who want your darshan. Now Kathakar, is giving example of the music video on TV, Bulla Ke Jana mai kaun, What does Bulla know who he is? Now, this is the State of Bhai Nand Lal ji. Guru ji opened the door, and hugged Bhai Nand Lal Ji close to his embrace, and told him about this ego, he explained him what the subtle ego is, through this lesson. Bhagat Namdev ji, in this hukamnama is telling about the presence of this ego/haumai. Kathakar is giving example, of how Bhagat Namdev ji to Trilochan ji to do work with your hands and feet, but keep God in your mind, and remember raam naam. God asks for service filled with prem love. This words of devotees, Guru's bani is true for all time, the listeners, readers of this, should understand it and implement in thier life. This world is a dream, nothing will remain, this is the advice, not to be attached to wealth, possesions, people or belongings, all this will vanish one day, Not to do Actions in ego. Dhanaasaree is the Raag of this shabad of Bhagat Naam Dayv jee. God is one, Is consciousness-bliss-truth,sat chit ananda, known by the grace of the True Guru. Namdev ji is saying, they have build very lofty palaces and are thinking of a very long life. Having high hopes of a very long life, you have build these palaces of ego. come o mortal engrossed in ego and the chains of hopes, let me explain you.] Maarkanda Saint had a very long life, Kathakar is saying of 1000 years, Do you know how he spent his life? He used to keep a handful of straw upon his head. He spent his entire life like this. From this, we understand, that Markanda had a very long life, so what should we do then? We have only our Creator Lord as only beloved Friend, only love that Creator Lord. O mortal, why are you engrossed in pride of your body, it will be reduced to ashes instantly. It will only take less time, and its name and form will be destroyed. Never again it will take life again. Sometime read history and learn about the Kaurvas, who used to say everything is theirs, they are the most powerful, and their egoistic brother had so much influence. Their royal procession with smaller kings under canopy shades of sixty miles were under the command of duryodhona, but in the end their bodies were eaten by vultures, dogs, meat eating animals. Noone performed their cremation services, nor could it be done, as their entire families were destroyed. Sri Lanka was an empire with mighty army and very wealthy empire. Raavan, the king had 100,000 sons, huge families. The whole empire was made of Gold. has anyone there been more powerful then him? Raavan was engrossed in ego, he was also well versed in the Vedas. What happened to his mighty army? It was destroyed by an army of monkeys. What happened to the elephants that was tethered at his door? All in an instant belonged to someone else. Understand o Mortal, Nothing belongs to anyone in this world, Understand this and absorb within your mind. The entire family of Krishna was destroyed, Krishna then went to forest and became sad, an hunter hit an arrow by mistake, it hit Krishna and also died. On the opposite Side, one can look at the life of Guru Gobind Singh ji, even after sacrificing the entire family, Guru ji in forest was in high spirits, and wrote the shabad, mittr pyaray nu haal mureeda da kahna. The Lord has shown mercy to His humble servant, and now Naam Dayv sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||1|| Showing your mercy, Lord, Namdev your humble servant sings your praises. ================================================================================================= Below is Today's Hukamnama Monday 29th, Jan 2007 sUhI mhlw 5 ] (783-1)[/font:59b6320c6b] soohee mehlaa 5. Hukamnama from ANG : 586 to 587 Saturday 27/01/2007 Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa Translation by Dr. Gopal Singh Translation by Bhai Manmohan Singh Katha of hukamnama translated http://sgpc.net/katha/katha070702.rm Bhul Chuk maaf karni shalok is the name of a Chaand (section of verses), it is mostly found in vedas and upanishads in the form of dohas, but in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, it is found in the form of 2, 4, 6, 10 lines any number of lines as Guru ji wish In Guru Granth Sahib ji, Shalok is gurbani, that when absorbed, contemplated takes one to sachkhand. Guru ji is giving inspiration to 10 crore sadhus, who at that time used to beg from ppl, Guru ji is saying that obtaining worldy goods your desire and hunger will not depart. Dressed as a beggar, your hunger will not depart. They are having the pain of hunger in their stomach, and this makes them wander from house to house, for the satisfaction of their hunger they are wandering. In the world after, they will punished two times more with the pain, because you are a sadhu an ascetic, and you are wandering for food. Meaning being a sadhu, does not mean you have to beg. Now in the next line Guru ji will advise the sadhu. meaning of word doone - do guni , two times. Sehj is the fourth state, whatever happens is happening, but you are unconcerned, this is the state of sehj. Guru ji is telling about the Sadhu, you are asking from ppl and eating the food, and saying that you are getting everything from the sehj within. Guru ji is Implying to the Sadhu, you have not attained the Sehj. From whomever you are begging for food, you are asking with a stubborn mind forcefully asking for food, Guru ji is saying you are causing pain to the Giver as well. In this way you will suffer two times in the court of the Lord. Guru ji has thus given this knowledge to the Sadhu, that why dress as beggar and beg from door to door. Live the life of a householder that is better, from that house of householder noone goes empty handed. Thus Guru ji is telling the Sadhu, be a householder. Satguru Amardas ji is saying, those who are imbued with this knowledge, that whatever God gives you, it is better to be content and happy with that. Those people who are without the Guru do not have this knowledge and they are wandering and wandering in doubt asking for more and more. Whatever actions you are doing, according to that, you will receive punishment or reward in the Lord's court, this is your karma, and in that court you will not be able to say anything. As you sow, so shall you reap. Sri Guru Amardas ji Maharaj is saying those are pleasing to the Lord, they alone are good humble. Timeless God, preserves their honour in this world and the next. Dhan Guru Amar Das ji Dhan Guru Amar Das ji Dhan Guru Amar Das ji mehlaa 3. Dhan Guru Amar Das ji is now reciting another Shalok If we want eternal peace then we should serve the True Guru, we should read gurbani, we should meet the True Guru, The pains of birth and death will go. Without the Guru, this anxiety and worry will not depart. Meeting Guru, your life will become worry free, God and his name will come to reside in your mind and your worries and anxiety will depart. There are crores of pilgrimages outside, but there is one pilgrimage inside and that is the pilgrimage of Wisdom, Satguru Amardas has given this understanding, has shown me. Mind has been freed from filth, bathing at amrit sar, the pilgrimage of God's name. the perfect people meet together and they do abhiyaas of Guru's shabad. They do not need to renounce or leave the world, remaining in their own houses, they have imbued themselves with God's name. They have merged the light of their soul, with God's light. The messenger of death will not accept hypocrites, he will take away your honour and drive you away. Satguru Amardas ji is saying, O Nanak those who are imbued with love for name are saved from pains, suffereing, death. Pauri is the name of a Chaand, in which usually, praises of Brave warriors are sung. Go and sit where people are earning Lord's name. Remember thou the God's Name with composure, that thou mayest not lose God, the Essence. Day and night repeat ever repeats God's Name, that thou myest find protection in God's court. He alone finds the Perfect True Guru, on whose forehead such a pre-ordained destiny is written. Let everyone forever bow in worship to Satguru Amardas, who utters the sermon of the Lord. Some other things mentioned during the katha Many new styles of doing kirtan are coming into being, but they are not following the maryada that is being followed at Sri Amritsar Sahib. Blessed is Baba Shyam Singh ji who started the kar seva, and also was blessed with the true maryada of doing kirtan. Particular Ragas are recited at particular times of day. Then another fact of history about a muslim colonel, who said he visited both mecca and Sri Amritsar Sahib, and when he was asked about how he felt about Sri Amritsar Sahib, he said, I have known mecca to be house of God, but if someone asks me where is house of God, he would say it to be Sri Amritsar Sahib.

BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU: SHALOK: In the beginning, He was pervading; in the middle, He is pervading; in the end, He will be pervading. He is the Transcendent Lord. The Saints remember in meditation the all-pervading Lord God. O Nanak, He is the Destroyer of sins, the Lord of the universe. || 1 || See, hear, speak and implant the True Lord within your mind. He is all-pervading, permeating everywhere; O Nanak, be absorbed in the Lord’s Love. || 2 || PAUREE: Sing the Praise of the One, the Immaculate Lord; He is contained within all. The Cause of causes, the Almighty Lord God; whatever He wills, comes to pass. In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes; without Him, there is no other. He pervades the continents, solar systems, nether worlds, islands and all worlds. 13. SHALOK, THIRD MEHL: Waaho! Waaho! is the Bani, the Word, of the Formless Lord. There is no other as great as He is. Waaho! Waaho! The Lord is unfathomable and inaccessible. Waaho! Waaho! He is the True One. Waaho! Waaho! He is the self-existent Lord. Waaho! Waaho! As He wills, so it comes to pass. Waaho! Waaho! is the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, obtained by the Gurmukh. Waaho! Waaho! This is realized by His Grace, as He Himself grants His Grace. O Nanak, Waaho! Waaho! This is obtained by the Gurmukhs, who hold tight to the Naam, night and day. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Without serving the True Guru, peace is not obtained, and the sense of duality does not depart. No matter how much one may wish, without the Lord’s Grace, He is not found. Those who are filled with greed and corruption are ruined by the love of duality. They cannot escape birth and death, and with egotism within them, they suffer in misery. Those who center their consciousness on the True Guru, never go empty-handed. They are not summoned by the Messenger of Death, and they do not suffer in pain. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved; they merge in the True Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: He alone is called a minstrel, who enshrines love for his Lord and Master. Standing at the Lord’s Door, he serves the Lord, and reflects upon the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. The minstrel attains the Lord’s Gate and Mansion, and he keeps the True Lord clasped to his heart. Without the Name, the world wanders around insane; the Gurmukhs come to see this. Involved in worldly affairs, he wastes his life in vain; the peace-giving Lord does not come to abide in his mind. O Nanak, they alone obtain the Name, who have such pre-ordained destiny. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: The home within is filled with Ambrosial Nectar, but the self-willed manmukh does not get to taste it. He is like the deer, who does not recognize its own musk-scent; it wanders around, deluded by doubt. The manmukh forsakes the Ambrosial Nectar, and instead gathers poison; the Creator Himself has fooled him. How rare are the Gurmukhs, who obtain this understanding; they behold the Lord God within themselves. Their minds and bodies are cooled and soothed, and their tongues enjoy the sublime taste of the Lord. Through the Word of the Shabad, the Name wells up; through the Shabad, we are united in the Lord’s Union. Without the Shabad, the whole world is insane, and it loses its life in vain. The Shabad alone is Ambrosial Nectar; O Nanak, the Gurmukhs obtain it. || 2 || PAUREE: The Lord God is inaccessible; tell me, how can we find Him? He has no form or feature, and He cannot be seen; tell me, how can we meditate on Him? The Lord is formless, immaculate and inaccessible; which of His Virtues should we speak of and sing? They alone walk on the Lord’s Path, whom the Lord Himself instructs. The Perfect Guru has revealed Him to me; serving the Guru, He is found. || 4 || Tuesday, 14th Aasaarh (Samvat 537 Nanakshahi) (Page: 643)

  22. There is another story relating to the lingam in the life of naam dev. naam dev was in search of a Guru and was told to go to this certain village. After having reached there he asked the people if there was anyone who was a guru and wise man.. and the people said there was none.. so naam dev decided to go the temple, as he went there he saw this old lunatic man lying on the ground with his feet/legs resting on the lingam. naam dev got angry and said "what are you doing ? remove your feet from the lingam". The old man said "Im too weak to move them, can you do it for me please" . Naam dev rushed and picked up his feet and as he put it on another spot the lingam came to the same place under his feet. Then suddenly naam dev realized that this was his Guru and he paid his respect to the guru. The guru then touched the forehead of naam dev and his consciousness was filled with the entire cosmos. He became one with everything and had the realization of God is everywhere and one with everyone.
  23. WADAHANS, FOURTH MEHL: The body is the Lord’s horse, imbued with the fresh and new color. From the Guru, I ask for the Lord’s spiritual wisdom. I ask for the Lord’s spiritual wisdom, and the Lord’s sublime sermon; through the Name of the Lord, I have come to know His value and His state. The Creator has made my whole life fruitful; I chant the Name of the Lord. The Lord’s humble servant begs for the Lord’s Name, for the Lord’s Praises, and for devotional worship of the Lord God. Says servant Nanak, listen, O Saints: devotional worship of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe, is good and sublime. || 1 || The golden body is adorned with the saddle of gold. It is adorned with the jewel of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Adorned with the jewel of the Naam, one obtains the Lord of the Universe; he meets the Lord and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, obtaining all sorts of comforts. He obtains the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, and meditates on the Name of the Lord; by great good fortune, he assumes the color of the Lord’s Love. He meets his Lord and Master, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; His body is ever-new, and His color is ever-fresh. Nanak chants and realizes the Naam; he begs for the Name of the Lord, the Lord God. || 2 || The Guru has placed the reins in the mouth of the body-horse. The mind-elephant is overpowered by the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. The bride obtains the supreme status, as her mind is brought under control; she is the beloved of her Husband Lord. Deep within her inner being, she is in love with her Lord. In His home, she is so beautiful — she is the bride of her Lord God. Attuned to the Lord’s Love, she is intuitively absorbed in bliss; she obtains the Lord God, Har, Har. Servant Nanak, the Lord’s slave, says that only the very fortunate meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. || 3 || The body is the horse, which one rides to the Lord. Meeting the True Guru, one sings the songs of joy. Sing the songs of joy to the Lord, serve the Name of the Lord, and become the servant of His servants. Go and enter the Mansion of God’s Presence, and lovingly enjoy the Lord’s Love. I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, so pleasing to my mind; following the Guru’s Teachings, I meditate on the Lord within my mind. The Lord has showered His Mercy upon servant Nanak; mounting the body-horse, he has found the Lord. || 4 || 2 || 6 || Wednesday , 10 Chayt (Samvat 537 Nanakshahi) (Page: 575)
