  1. still no answer as such.. I think that people hesitate because we cant say for sure how we're affecting the Karmic balance. If people were to turn vigilante, then how would they know that they're doing right in Gods eyes? and where will it stop? I think if we had a comprehensive answer things would be different.
  2. I think its important to give details. Even without names, approximate dates of events and locations are very important. This could help identify the most dangerous areas and appropriate steps can be considered from that point onwards. One thing is for sure, something needs to be done. We have the drive but not the direction. If any organisation is willing to take steps to resolve this then more power to them. I would personally urge anyone who has experienced a problem like this, or anyone who personally knows someone who has to come forward and give some kind of information on the email address provided. These people are getting away with it to do the same again and again. it has to stop.
  3. Good question. here's one for you: Imagine someone has committed a horrible crime, and has essentially got away with it (cops werent called as in so many crimes, legal loophole, whatever). You know where this person is, what they have done and the fact that the law isnt gonna do a thing. What is a person to do? Do we take the law into our own hands and try to prevent those crimes being repeated on future victims? Or do we leave Justice to God?
  4. Just wanted some opinions about the use of a Maala... I know Gursikhs who try to do a certain number of Maalas to quantify their Waheguru jaap or their Mool Mantar, which makes sense because it guarantees that you have met whatever target minimum ammount you have set for yourself.. But my question is, through the use of the maala, does it itself become Spiritually charged? (Like water for example, which is scientifically proven to react to Naam Abhiyaas).. Would it be any different from using, say for example, a clicker counter? I've seen people on the train with those, quitely Jaaping and clicking away, and to me it makes sense since a maala is kept Succhi and trains are some of the most unhygenic places you can find with the entire worlds gundh on them. Your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
  5. what exactly do peace activists do out there? its a serious question, coz it seems to be mostly peace activists who end up getting held hostage and murdered.
  6. I think the best way is to grab the bull by the horns... Get into the media so something can be done about it.. Like those Singhs who are making that Sarbloh Warriors game.. Big step in the right direction. We need Gursikhs as writers, directors, producers, editors... people with real creative control. Thats the real way to fight this... Damn i wish i'd studied media at uni! lol
  7. If you'd like to re-read my comments Stopsingh, you will see that my point is that the game is already well into developement, but as usual someone thinks it should be heading in a totally different direction. Like Akali Singh has said, not everyone likes strategy games. What these guys are going for is the widest possible appeal, there will be plenty of time in the future for other angles to be looked at. Furthermore, i think it would be a great idea if you would create a strategy game. i honestly mean that. But until the time comes where these lot, urself, or someone else creates such a thing, cant we be happy that someone is doing something? Apologies if i came across as overzealous, and thanks for the (albeit unwarranted) concern about the state and size of my underwear lol. Thats what we like to see, Singhs looking out for one another lol.
  8. No new tracks? Credit to him anyway.. his recent albums have been explosive!
  9. Ur right Stop Singh. U go right ahead and do that. We got people here who are working full time, taking out what little spare time they have to work on a project for no profit, and all we can give them in the way of feedback is that its not good enough. This is a first step... With Mahrajs blessings it could be the first of many media projects for us, an area in which we are severely lacking. These guys are real Artists, Programmers, Music Producers, Actors etc and they are doing this purely because they want to do something to fill that void, take a step into uncharted territory and do something worthwhile. why cant we make this a first by actually supporting instead of dumping on them?
  10. We need a better representation in the media. the only way to acheive that is for Sikhs themselves to be involved in the media. Plus to be honest i think we ourselves have to take responsibility for alot of this. We have collectively given ourselves a bad reputation for drinking and acting foolishly, being easily manipulated and being generally stupid. Fact: in the 1930s in India, a sardars testimony would stand up in a court of law almost without question since we had a reputation for being Honest, Hardworking and Upstanding people of faith. If Sardarji said it, it must be the truth, he wouldnt lie coz he's a Khalsa. whereas today? well, it speaks for itself.
  11. why not? its not like ur internal organs are gonna do u any good once the soul has left the body. If someone else can benefit then great. Even in Death a Sikh can do someones Bhalla.
  12. I'd have to disagree. It would look too confrontational. I beleive that the young lady involved should prepare and present her case, and within it she should include the document from the home office clearing the Kirpan as a symbol of our faith and stating that a baptised Sikh may wear their Kirpan, Irrespective of length, while going about their daily business. That one document alone should carry her case. However, i think to make it less confrontational, she should aslo include some paraphenelia/Literature about who we are and what we are about. Such things should be handled sensitively and diplomatically. I think if the young lady handles this herself she will make a much more profound impression on the dean by behaving as an ambassador of Sikhs (as we all should) and connecting with him on a diplomatic level as opposed to going all hip hop and rolling up on his punkass with the Sikhawareness Massive. all that would acheive is to make us look confrontational and threatening, that would just confirm their fears and compound their ignorance and wouldnt do any of us any favours. This bibi is in the fortunate position that she can make a change that will benefit any other Sikhs who study there in the future.. its a blessing!
  13. saw the video to this yesterday. was very very low budget (bunch of Singhs naching on a hill while one of them mimed).. Had one good track though, the last one in the medley.
  14. LOL.. this has turned into one of the funniest threads i've ever read.. Reminds me of a song, the title of which i wont post here
  15. 100 sons!?! Somebody gonna get a hurt... real bad!
  16. I got told by one Singh that if u meet Mahraj u should challenge him to a fight  I said "on ur own bruv, lol, i know who my money would be on to win that one!" His point was to be slain by Mahrajs hand would be his path to salvation. Interesting theory.. although if i do ever get Mahrajs darshan i doubt i'll be trying that out!
  17. Question that i've had in mind for sometime, i'd like to hear the views of your learned selves.. Does an Ardaas have any influence on what Mahraj has decided? We're told everything happens for a reason and that God has a plan for us all. Yet we often wish things would work out differently and do Ardaas to that effect. Do you think Mahraj takes the ardaas of a normal person (not a Mahapurakh) into consideration and hear everyone pleading their case? Or is Mahraj more like the parent who isnt going to give their child anymore sweets because they've decided that you've had enough, no matter how much you beg and promise to be good? (of course thats not out of spite, more out of concern). Personally i kinda subscribe to the latter. What do you guys think?
  18. When u get mukti.... .... dont forget to put in a word for the rest of us lol
  19. I was once told by someone that if a thought enters your mind, let it do so, then let it go; ie say to ur mind, ok, u've had ur thought, now back to focusing... (it doesnt mean sit there with ur eyes closed thinking happy thoughts all day long lol). For example, if i say to you "whatever you do, dont think of an elephant!" whats the first picture that jumps into ur head? so if you tell ur mind DONT think about xyz, the way the mind operates, it will ignore the instruction and just hear the xyz bit, and go and retreive info about it. mloco is right, few can claim to have full control over their minds, but with time we can discipline them... do some research on the way the mind works and how to program it, its interesting stuff and it may help!
  20. Hey Noor, I've been there too man, with education going wrong. Dont waste any time, even while ur waiting for ur appeal to go through get something going in terms of a contingency plan. I fell a year behind in uni so i got myself a job for that time. Not only did i make some cash, but with Wahegurus grace that work experience got me the job i applied for after leaving uni. Also the people i met and the links i made during that year took me in new directions in terms of career opportunities. Point being, i know what that it feels like ur life is over, but its not. This is just another example of adversity, and overcoming adversity is what makes us stronger and equips us for the future. Im not gonna go into too much detail but beleive me, i know what it feels like to be down, and to think "well, thats it, game over!". But all things have a life span. these things do too. we just need to learn to ride out the storm.. Keep ur chin up. one way or another things will work out for u.
  21. I would agree that theres nothing wrong with keeping your Sri Sahib discreet. Obviously there are those who will say that we should make a stand and carry a 3 footer if we want to, but realistically, i dont see whats wrong with wearing a kirpan without it being obvious to those around you. Especially since Paaji in the picture wears Baana, it would make it all the easier for him to be discreet about his Kirpan. I mean why make things more difficult for yourself? A little flexibility isnt going to kill us. example, once, a few years ago, a friend of mine was walking down the street wearing a 14 inch Tanto (Japanese style chisel tip blade). He got pulled up by police because the tip of it was showing from under his t-shirt. The guy calmly exained what the Kirpan was and why he wore it. The cop asked to see it so the guy drew it, touched it to his forehead and showed it to the officer. The cop then asked if it had to be visible, to which his answer was "no". My friend was allowed to then tuck the Sri Sahib out of sight and carry on with his business. in another case, a Singh was pulled up. he behaved arrogantly, said he knew his rights etc, and when asked to show the officers his Sri Sahib (which incidentally was a smaller blade and a traditionally shaped one), he gave a response to the effect of "if i take it out i cant put it away without drawing blood with it". unsurprisingly, he was promptly arrested. the difference? simply the attitude shown. So i would say that a Sikh should compromise and show tolerance just like everyone else should compromise and show tolerance. Why? because this makes for a more peaceful and understanding society instead of everyone being in each others faces about our rights and the inevitable conflict that arises as a result.
  22. I've seen the Swiss army ones up close.. The blades themselves are beautiful except for the printing on them.. it seemd abit superfalousi dunno, im a minimalist when it comes to these things, i dont realy see the point.. But the real let down was the handle.. plastic made to look like wood, and plastic for the metallic/gold bits as well. I think its abit of a shame, its like they arent as great as they could have been.
