  1. I am weak. Here is my confession of cutting my hair.I just did it and i hate what i am going through right now. I don't understand why am i so weak.I attend satsangs, do sewa, pray but i failed here. The worst part is i woke up today, did my morning prayer, went to gurdwara, did a chaupi path and anand sahib path, and then i do this. How twisted am i? Some may say its only 2 inches off...but the guilt is killing me.I don understand how can one be so weak.I don want to fall due to temptation.I need advice on how to fight it off. I am so scared to face my parents, my family.I truly hate myself. I hope and pray the 2 inches off my hair grows back FAST. Help me help myself.
  2. hi... this question has been dwelling in my mind for quite some time now, when we do a sehaj path da phog, we read the nauhme mehla as well as the raag mala... what i don get is in the raag mala basically we are told of what raag belings where and how many are there...whats the need for this...?
  3. i dont think its a problem of the religion.I think it is the problem of a handful of islam followers that mis-interpret the religion. And usually these people hold a very influential seat in the world making every Tom, Dick and Harry to follow. Not because Tom, Dick and Harry are fools but because they don't know any better, so they take in what ever that is told to them without making the effort of finding things out.
  4. "Some old institutes do not allow women to do akhand paath seva on tabia however do not restrict them from reading bani in their own homes just not on the public tabia. " why is that? There is this gurdwara in malaysia that practices this rule. isn't this discrimination?, when in asa di war we are told that men and women weigh the same.
  5. are we still allowed to read SGGS ji if we cut our hair? are we allowed to taking part in a akhand path as pathi's? can someone who cuts his/her hair sit on the tabia to do chor sewa? looking forward to reading your views...
  6. so much hatred...?...against islam...?...against prophet Muhammad...? God is one, a little known fact. We all pray to him... how we do it is depending on our religion. Bottom line, we all bow our head to one God. Tearing one religion down would be the same as tearing down your own religion. I was once told by a very learned Gyani ji who explained that when ever evil percedes- man taken over by the 5 deadly evil, God reincarnates. Not understanding what he meant by reincarnates, he further explained reincarnates here means he sends his messenger to us, sublty guiding us back to him. His messengers come in many way, some area hard knock on our heads, our gut feeling, and even to the extent of sending us prophets and gurus. I happily walked away thinking i had my answer. A few days later i came across my house mates Bhagavad Geeta. Curiousity got the better of me and i starting skimming through the pages and came across this Line "With every birth of evil Vishnu reincarnates"... The next day i was doing my japji sahib the line: ekka mai jugat veayee, teen chelay pervan, ik sansari, ik bandhari, ik laay dibaan. confimed the answer:- the line was refering to vishnu, brahma, shiva. the three gods in hindu. God is one, and he sends many mesengers to us. I am sure there will be many other examples from SGGS ji refering to God as one and his vast messengers. All religions are rivers from the same sea. Tearing one down, is the same tearing every other one.
  7. for curiousity sake lets dwell on this subject: what if S. Singh is to be married to K.Kaur in a few months time, they are madly in love with each other and very much committed to the relationship they share. Is it wrong for S.Singh to have lustful thoughts of K.Kaur? i mean is it wrong for S.Singh(who loves K. Kaur very much) to once in a while have lustful feelings for his future wife? does it make sense to say he should refrain from having those thoughts of her or vice versa? la-di-da...they get married and live happily ever after. is it still not proper for either of them to experience those feelings for each other? Is it still logic to say that he/she should refrain from those sinful thoughts?
  8. i do get the whole halal, non-halal thing...i really do, both my parents are amrit-thari's...but... the same way as we are told : " thinking of misdeeds is the same as doing them." take sex for example, the story has been told numerous times, and everytime the moral of te story is the same:- we are to hinder away from sexual thoughts or sexual acts as both are considered under the same category thus considered sinful. isn't eating (soybean)meat (thinking at the back of our minds" this vegetized chicken curry tastes just as chicken curry should", this is how we explain to other non vegetarians who have never tried vegetized meat...don't we?) the same as eating meat?...the logic is the same.. its not the litteral idea of forking in vegetized meat or not coz its non-halal, its the whole methophoric idea that follows.. another thing i want to stress is that this topic is not to question if we are to be vegetarians or not, as even SGGS leaves it as an open question for us to ponder on, this is just an observation... as always....no pun intended on anyone..
  9. i doubt any religion allows for sex before marriage. I guess the question i'm trying to ask is in this world that we are living in where do we draw the line? i mean is reading novels that have "very graphic" description of sexual acts, or vewing pictured that are bordering between sexy and pornographic elements so on so forth(you ppl get the picture) wrong?... when nothing is is actually being done by the reader/viewer expect reading or viewing them? I do know some will raise their views on the grounds of "it not being the act itself but the pschycological effect " . But imagine this situation: You're stuck in traffic and you're getting late. Out of frustration you just curse the person driving in front of you and for one second just wish he/she had a flat tire.. you don't go and flatten their tire but wish it happens to them...does that make you not following the "sikhi way" since as a sikh you are thought since young that as a sikh you are to love your fellow brothers and sisters. That you have no right to wish worse of someone. so i base my question on that...looking forward to reading your views.
  10. what we are born as, what we get and don't get in this lifetime, what we do during our life time, where we end up, is all in the hands of God. Everything is pre-set so to speak, He brings us to this world , takes care of us for the lifespan that is permitted to us and is the one reponsible of what happens next(what ever it may be). the thing i am trying to stress here is that don't frett about being considered religious or not, i truly believe the definition of religion is one's relationship with God. Each and every one of us loves God uniguely, it is for us to hold. Focus on Him, and believe that He'll take care of the rest. About the part of not having the 5 k's, i believe it will happen when He sees fit. Leave that to Him, nothing happens on our terms, He is everything and everything is Him.
  11. Meat constructed from soy beans or tofu were created for vegetarians around the world so that they wont "miss out" on the pleasures of eating meat. Even when he /she is taking in the morsels of a vegetized meat psychologically they believe "..if it was turkey, it would taste just like or almost like this.." So the point is ...why be a vegetarian and eat "vegetarian meat"..coz whether it be metaphorical or not..you're still eating meat. p/s : No harm intended on anyone..this is merely an observation.
  12. We all know that no religion promotes or allows adultery. But in this cyber age, what is the definition of adultery?
  13. in the dohra .."guru manio granth" ....we are told as sikh we have to accept SGGS ji as our guru... that said.. is it wrong of us to read the bible ,the bhagavad geeta, the Quran...?? i believe god is one and the other religions are merely different pathways leading to him....the more i try to learn about him.. i feel that much closer to him....as i read the holy scriptures of other religions... there are times when i cannot help but agree with wats written...because it makes sense to me..am i committing a sin when i do that???
  14. in bani there are times when we are told to love God how a wife loves her husband...but how do i as human differentiate that..how am i to fall in love when i'm so in love with God..how is that possible...??this question may seem stupid..and i do feel embarrased asking ...but i want to know...
  15. why do we still have fear??...when something bad happens, we go straight into defense mode, if everything comes from him-the good the bad, the ugly..why does our reflexes kick in..when i pose this questions to others...the only answer i'm given is that we are build that way...but doesn't anyone wonder why?
