  1. That was truely unbelievable.
  2. Nice post above, and as for the modern times with guns etc. On the street Shastar vidya has plenty of techniques for close contact. Carrying a glock with you is not going to solve the problem. We had the resources of Guns back in the day. If the time came that Guns and ammo were neede to defend the faith or injustice then so be it. But as of today today i think we dont really need guns, depending on where you are from of course.
  3. Dont start dissing the girl coz she wrote Jatt in her name, she did not mention that she feels superior/inferior to anyone on this board. Dont assume so much. Jatt = Farmer. I am a Jatt that would be my trade. I know the "typical" Jatt self proclaiming idoit. But this gal did not say anything offensive or put anyone down. So give her a break.
  4. Beautiful, simple short sweet and to the point. Hard concept in reality but i guess is the only way.
  5. Well i dunno about a lot of your family life but my sisters understand it is not very safe for a gal to be roaming the streets bythemselves in this day and age. There are lot of nasty evil people around. Instead of fightin youir parents you should try to see there point of view. If it makes sense then cool, but if it does not try to justify and clarify it as best as you can. We have some double standards but if you are fighting just to fight then your only digging yourself a bigger hole.
  6. No no no!!!!!!!!!! Ustad Nihang Nidhar Singh Ji is asking Uptej to duel not for ego!! But from what i gathered it is more like that Uptej Singh Ji has been teaching Gatka and criticizin the ShastarVidya style. Shastar Vidya is the style they used way back when. Uptej singh seems to have incorporated a more modern approach. Those who have seen the gatka displays will know that this style does not stand a chance to the Shastarvidya. The Singhs are wasting there time learning Gatka the dance routine. Shastarvidya is the real way of the warrior. Put it this way you may not agree with Nihang jis interpretation of Sikhi etc, but the fighting style is priceless. And dueling amongst each other in the right spirit can only further your martial strenght. Just like Everyday in this world we are challenged with decisions that test your Sikhi, which strenthen you. The diamonds of this world are only created in he hottest of fires.
  7. I thought Kaam was lust, there is a fine line with Lust and Love. If you can control your thougts and actions respecting the girl or boy enough then why not? There are not too many out there who can lay to this claim, but there is nothing wrong in affection, especially if your whole intent is to get married. Better to find out who you are to get married to for some time rather than being lumbered with them can only be a good thing. You are thejudge of your own Sikhi and how far you have progressed, if you feel that you can have a relationship with good intent without the kaam then go for it. And for those who are saying that traditions were ture back then as they are true now, well my Grandfather got married when he was 13, so those who are willing to allow there lil sis get married at that age please dont let me hold you back contine with the traditons. Also common sense is such a virtue that some people cant seem to get a hold of. Being shaky on their own beliefs can be a dangerous thing. Especially if they can deal with a thought outside of their understanding.
  8. You dont have to be a Nihang to practice Shastarvidya, its there for self defence in the old martial tradition. So go ahead knock yourself out. As Far as Gatka Vs Shastarvidya are concerned, it does seem like Gatka is a play a choreographed dance and Shastar Vidya is the real deal. Anyone who has been to a karate lesson know that it never worked in a street ruck, but those who have been to Muai Thai or boxing etc, know that this technique is far more effective. Ustad Nihang Niddar Singh ji has challenged Uptej Singh but Uptej singh had not responded. If he had nothing to fear he should accept. About the video Uptej singh has, can some one opst a link or something for all to view. Coz until then i know alot of people who say that they have movies of blah blah etc. Infact dont quote me but Ustad Nihang Niddhar Singh ji denies even dueling with Uptej singh.
  9. When i wrote Sikhi is not a Buffet, where we can choose to mix and match, why is that the Dasam Granth is not taken for its entirety? People removed the Dasam Granth thanks to the SGPC, but then as you said why do we get some prayers from it. What about the rest of the Dasam Granth, why is it not an integral part of "mainstream Skihi" today? The website shastarvidya.com contains many references to the Dasam Granth including the Hindu Demigods, yet people seem to condemn their work and efforts.
  10. Your aswer to the prevoius post was answered on this site on a different link.
  11. Harbhajan Singh Yogi is a Sant in the definition, there is absolutely nothing bad to be said about him. I have met him and seems very down to earth. He practices Sikhi and preaches Sikhi. So cant be much wrong there. He goes by Guru Granth Sahib so there is no hesitation in saying his seva should go without saying bad stuff. He is rich, he has many gas stations, but he does parchar for the sangat. So what if he gives names to converting Sikhs. Is that a big deal? He gives names that are inspirational. I think those Sikhs in New Mexico are refreshing as they are devout Sikhs without the Punjabi hang ups. They do yoga and simran so what is the big deal. People always wil talk crap about someone when they try to do best, i.e Jesus, The Gurus, Moses etc.
  12. With all love and interest for the panth. I can tell you that Ustad Nihang Niddhar Singh Ji does not aim to confuse Singhs around the world. And to the Singh of Muslim descent, The muslims that were of that time and age of that location were converts to the religion adopting the Islamic faith, so even they understood the stories of Chandi etc. The dasam granth cannot be excluded from the panth, but should not be taken as Bani, asthe purest without a doubt bani is the SGGS. But it is so wrong to disclaim it, afterall Sikhi is not a buffet, if in rehit some people read some paath from Dasam Granth who is to say what is valid and what is not. I have not read all of the Dasam Granth but from what i inderstand it seems very educational and inspirational, as would any other book dedicated to waheguru. If your frame of mind does not allow you to see past the Hindu dieties then its on you, but never have i read once in my research the prayer TO chandi, just spoken to in the third person perspective. To say Chandi ha great batles against evil etc. These stories like i said earlier were meant to appeal to the masses who were Hindu at that time. Anyone from the UK knows about St. George we dont look at him as a Deity but as a guy who defeated a dragon. We do not worship him but his story is of courage. In the same way we discard the hindu deities as god but merely as warriors. DO NOT PRAY to these hindu gods as GURBANI and only GURBANI is needed to Sikh awareness. I hope all Sikhs can educate others that Sikhs are definately not Hindus, and by talking about Ram, Chandi the Bani is only helping those who do not understand. Please do not offend the ShastarVidya site especially if you do not understand the importance of this great tradition of the Sikhs. For those who wrote and argue that drinking cannibis is not written anywhere, please tell me One line of bani that mentions the physical essence of Amrit, and the 5 K's more impotantly the Khalsa. If you read the SGGS then you will know the word Khalsa is written before the time of Guru Gobind Singh ji, so why is that the Khalsa was not established then? Nihangs are passing on their heritage as SIKHS and to better yoursefl and understand always goe to the source rather than hear the chinese whisper version. We are here on this message board to help each other. Peace and love for all. Wanhegurrrrrrrrrrrrrrru
  13. I really cant see what all the fuss is about! If you personally email Ustad Nihang Niddhar Singh Ji he will explain his motive and the promotion of Shastarvidya. It is part of the direct martial status of the Sikhs and Warriors of old. The relationship of "Hindu Gods" are stories of inspiration and not for worship. Many warriors were of different background who fought along with Guru Maheraj. If during the Dehli riots Sikhs had practiced Shastarvidya, then im sure there would have been less casualties. We are not only trying to better ourselves mentally but physically as well. Peace is great but then why would we fight in times past? No one can predict the future, Bani and Shastarvidya can only prepare you for today and the unknown days ahead. The mainstream Gatka as displayed by most, is just a play or a dance if you will. Those who have ever been in a fight know how much skill and preparation it takes to DEFEND yourself. A simple play is not gonna get you far, believe me. Personally i believe Ustad Nihang Niddhar Singh Ji really should highlight the fact that we do not worship Hindu Gods etc but are used for inspiration. Simple point why do we use the word Ram so frequently in bani? And not Waheguru? Because this is what the masses needed back in the day to get a grip of reality. In the same way people could relate to the stories of Chandi for inspiration only. Yes in an ideal world ALL Sikhs would not need anymore inspiration other than Simran etc, but how many of the Sikhs can say that it is true for them. Then again in an ideal world who would Sikhs need to fight? Prepartaion for war is just part of Sikhi, as is Simran. If you can do Simran while sitting on the train, why cant you immerse yourself in Simran while training? Marajuana is/was used for medicinal value (coz not every warrior is prepared to go through the pain as well a the Guru). Today it may look like it is abused, but they use five leaves in deg. Those who know a thing about the puff know that five leaves in that amount of deg does not get you wasted. Preparation during the state of mind during war includes such deg for the Nihang. People say that Nihangs walk around Punjab looking down at others, i think it is more dissapointment than anything else. They helped defend us and upheld the martial (excluding the meat and cannibis issue) and the simran, then they look at us who would not even know how to defend their mothers let alone themselves. Look at the AKJ crew for example, my friends father wanted a glass of paani from the langar kitchen, but the sevadars would not let him in coz he had not taken Amrit from AKJ (why i never knew that Amrit was different) even though he follows rehit. They would not allow his son do do Kirtan coz he had cut hair. So they are also on the ego trip. People quote Bani to say thet Bhagat Kabir Ji wrote that eating meat is a door straight to hell etc, but here we are arguing on whether meat is allowed or not allowed when Guru Nanak wrote something to the terms of what is meat and what is not meat only a fool argues whethere you should eat or not eat it. The great thing about Sikhi is that you discover things yourself the more you heighten yourself, but wne you have people arguing that are clearly on different planes then the arguments become invalid. Futher your mental being via Simran, futher your physical being by Shastarvidya. P.S. I am sure Ustad Nihang Niddhar Singh Ji will enlighten you further. Also dont diss the man if he cant make his points known. I expect a gurelling reply from someone, but i honestly did not mean to offend anyone, so please let me know whats up in a tasteful manor, afterall we are not here to argue but to help each other on this CYBERSANGAT. Peace and love.
  14. theres allot of apney people who have negative views against the gurdwara - ive heard many people say bad stuff about the gurdwara just for a laugh - its not a laughing matter - u say something bad about the gurdwara and ur sayin something bad about the path to waheguru THIS IS NOT FOR A LAUGH. Its a valid point/question that i felt strongly about so i posted. If i say something bad about the gurdwara im sayin something bad about the path to Waheguru? Well I guess i am the ultimate sinner after my post. Gurwara is just a building for worship. The SGGS is the essence of the building. But if the Gurdwara is being run with corruption, is it really still the path of Waheguru. A building cannot be the paath of Waheguru. You DO NOT need to go to the Gurdwara to better yourself. It may help create an environment with the grace of a sangat. But like i say if that community is full of gossip, and directors who have no clue about sikhi then is this the path of waheguru? I am not inulsting Sikhi just the way it is run.
  15. No offense taken whatsoever, i know the reply was out to educate rather than demoralize. I have no objection in being told what is right and what is wrong. Its really up to the individual how they come across. And i dont think anyone on this site are trying to be an ass. Dont worry about the apologies.
  16. Well you are already arguing as to what meat is etc. There are a few contradictions for pro eating meat and some against it. In the Guru Granth sahib especially. But as far as the Dasam Granth is concerned it is not validated to be written by Guru Gobind singh, and so it is not a valid source. The Guru Granth sahib should be the source of wisdom, while i PERSONALLY feel that the dasam granth to be read as an interest. Essentially there is a case for medicinal purpose of nihangs using cannibis during war. But hey the word Khalsa is not mentioned in the SGGS except once, but not referring to the Khalsa we see present today. Neither are alot of things in Sikhi as of today, but the truth is that traditions including Sikh martial way, are passed on from generation to generation. So do as asking for your humble opinion Could you tell me where the attire of a Sikh is written in the SGGS?
  17. Well actually my younger brother took Amrit (after being clean shaven) after my mum took Amrit in 1999. My sisters and mum would always do prayer and simran, but i never used to do anything to better myself. I thought i had lost a brother when he took amrit, always bickered and mocked him for his beliefs. He was very fundamentalistic, which he has clamed down a lil. After i went to the US to study i found some sangat that was very open in the study of bani, and held a weekly simran section. I felt better about doing simran, and started to read some bani outside the sangat. I was pretty amazed by it. I am still clean shaven etc, but am slowly trying to better myself as much as i can with the time and efforts.
  18. Guy - You blew my mind with your response, absolute gem of a response. i was asking just for infomation.
  19. Please feel free to correct my text and language, thanks again.
  20. Yeah we could talk about the great things in the Gurdwara, but that will only help our community stagnate. We get change via fair criticism, and i personally believe what i said was to the point (maybe not the most choice words) but i get emotional. So please forgive me. As far as me knowing all the sakhis etc, i do not proclaim to know so, but when you try to question everything thirsting for knowledge you A) accept everything that you are being told, or try and find out yourself with Gurbani. So my point being that i heard a few Sakhis that are not mentioned in any of our text. And no i am totally laying blame on our Gurdwaras for our communal faults after all people who are usually broke due to a broken home. I was merely trygint to highlight the point that the Gurdwara should be a home away from home, a place where at least you can give your undivided attention to the Guru and Sangat. Yeah i go Gurdwara and try to do as much seva as i can. But as far as politics go i do not know enough Sikhi to help run such a valued place with full Sikhi values. My qualm really was that our community is going down the plug hole, as far as numbers. I know its about quality rather than quantity, but hey are we here to settle? please forgive my outspoken verse, i just get so frustrated seeing ignorance around me. I am so ignorant about Sikhi, but i thirst and read alone at home. I am new to the religion and and climbing slowly still. Just a downer to see the one place you value being disgraced day in day out.
  21. I hate poltics of Gurdwara. . All it is is packed full of gossiping old ladies, langar that is never served with affection, Granthis thinking they are the almighty, and merely yapping making up Sakhis that are unheard of. What is the Gurdawar scene coming to. We got supposed Sikhs running tha Gurdwaras thinking its the houses of Parliament, fighting for control over the money, in which they never invest in the community. Whatever happened to the message of the Guru. Youngsters dont know whats going on, even when they are forced to go on the Sunday. Youngsters need to learn as do the adults! Only the hidden pockets have Sangat, hard to find, and the rest are lost or losing the plot. What can be done?
  22. moderator, you worte about something quite magical, can i get a source about this war and the guy who predicted such events.
